Stoney & The Shine RDWC SCROG

i remember reading that somewhere.. might have been you that i read it from. 😁

i added another 4ml of h2o2 tonight.

it's crazy to me how fast the roots grow once they touch the water surface.. from thursday to today...

Cut the tips!!!!

It'll branch out faster

This I can confirm from my experiments, lol.

So r u thinking the same problem is existing w ur hydro? That sucks if so. I seem to b having herm issues. My last grow was looking good till I started my wet trim. Still better than the last herm issue

So r u thinking the same problem is existing w ur hydro?

yes sir, i saw it coming on a few days ago when they started looking sad. all numbers were in check and i was keeping up on the peroxide. it's not my water, not my nutes, not my lights.. i don't know maybe the first grow was just a fluke and the problem didn't show. no clue...

but hey good news is it looks like i get a veg cabinet back!!!! if i have time over the weekend i'm gonna cut the system out of the cabinet and patch the holes up and just pretend the whole last year never happened. fuck hydro!

I seem to b having herm issues. My last grow was looking good till I started my wet trim. Still better than the last herm issue

genetics maybe? any timer malfunctions at all?

Genetics is out of the scenario. The clones were graciously given to me by @MiGrampa who didn't have an issue w his. I did have a power outage issue one day for a few hrs, that may have been the culprit? Dunno, still pretty happy with the end results

thats right, they were the clones... hmm.. something you gotta keep your eye on next time for sure. seems odd but could just be coincidence maybe.

i had some nanners pop out at the end of my last soil run. they were stressed AF and i wasn't shocked at all that i saw some.. pleasantly surprised though thati can't fnd any seeds yet so thats a win.. i don't mind some here and there but man i hate those tiny little white seeds!! such a pita cleaning!!

i grew some Bohdi seeds in the past and a lot of them would spit nanners but never any pollen.. always had naners but never had seeds.. i mean this was for a couple years!! not kidding.. even to this day i'm a little numb to it and i don't really get shook over a hermi now and then. my squish press doesn't really care if the buds have sees or not so i'm only bothered when i wanna give some away and it has seeds..

so yeah i look at it like, as long as you're happy then the end result then it was a success and if you gained any knowledge along the way then it was a win/win!!

Most definitely a success as the genetics were far superior to my last plant and I've found 4-5 seeds thus far. Plus I'm probably looking at 2-3 lbs compared to the last harvest of 10 oz

Know this though, I'm gonna be watching for ur hydro grows. Don't give up on it, or do. I enjoy ur diaries as well as Bandit420 even though u all do soil. Still a lot I can take away from reading the posts, and I appreciate the humor, skip past all the Nascar stuff, otherwise enjoyable posts!

I'm not knocking Nascar, just not into it like u 2 r. My town has a small dirt track, and it is a good time to b had attending their events.

thats one hell of an improvement!!! can't ever sneeze at more than a pound!!! ya know man, those seeds are fems... you had no male pollen in your grow. if it was a stress related cause then it probably won't carry over to the seeds.

Know this though, I'm gonna be watching for ur hydro grows. Don't give up on it, or do.

i don't know man... i really wanna grow hydro and its so frustrating. i need to spend some time and re read my first hydro grow and look for clues. i'm willing to do a total reboot and use all the exact same things i did then for one last ditch effort. probably not the base nutes though. but the buffer, ph up and down, calmag, and anything else i can find that i changed along the way and give it one last hoorah.. i don't know i'll sleep on it.

I enjoy ur diaries as well as Bandit420 even though u all do soil.

he's a pretty cool cat ain't he?!?!! i met Bandit years ago on a forum that somebody told me about, i had gotten shafted on some shady led lights and some of the members of that forum also got screwed by the same guy so i just looked to see what people did about it and met Bandit in the process.. he went by el bandito back then i really didn't know if it was a joke or not at the time. he was a moderator at the site so i didn't wanna ask and insult anyone, haha i quickly learned what kind of dude he was, and we've been kickin it at forums ever since!

soil gets in your soul... there's a primal connection to it that i cannot explain.

Still a lot I can take away from reading the posts, and I appreciate the humor

i may whine and bitch but i ain't gonna cry over it so i gotta laugh somehow man!!!!! and ya know,,

skip past all the Nascar stuff,

what?!?!?!?! ;wedg nah... hahaha it's cool man!! i get a little obsessed sometimes!!! haha

he's a pretty cool cat ain't he?!

For sure, he had me at real chili doesn't have beans. Ppl up here put way too much beans in chili. One day I'm gonna do some Texas chili and probably never do beans again!

i don't know man... i really wanna grow hydro and its so frustrating

Well, u have done well w soil, so I imagine u can do hydro as well. I'm a newb and haven't had too much of problems, but then again I've had help from this community. I'd probably have ditch weed growing in a $5500 setup otherwise lol. I still wanna grab a page off ur using whatever board similar to my rasp 5 to setup real-time ph and ppm readings. May just wait for the new ph/ppm from ACI and get their AI controller as well.

Will be continuously trolling ur threads w great enthusiasm and respect.

Brother... no way.

I wish I had some sort of knowledge to share here, but damn. It seems like we've covered all the bases so this just doesn't make any sense.

I'm bummed for you, bro.

I, too, don't want to see you give it up, but I get it. I don't know if i would've lasted as long as you without throwing in the towel.

It's the white room right...?

yeah the white room... i need to wipe the stink off it somehow!! hahaha

so i've been reading back and that first auto grow was the only one where i didn't have this issue. i'm gonna give one last try in what i did then.

so i dropped new seeds last night and i'm going to drain/clean/flush/refill and i'm not going to use any of my homemade stuff.. no agsil mix, no ph up/down and i'll go back to bennies. the water i have is good and was at 100ppms of h2o2 not that long ago. so thats what i'm going to try.

i'm convinced it's not some weird thing or leaching or never heard of before.. this is got to be something simple i'm missing, no way it happens over and over with all the prevention taken in between,

tomorrow i will have gh up and down and will use the up as buffer and go back to the exact recipe Aquaman made for me on grow 1. also going back to the humbolt calmag versus the calimagic just because thats what i used then and no other reason. i don't believe there is anything wrong with the magic i just wanna shotgun this whole thing and change it all to what i used when i didn't have an issue.

only i will use the trio and not the nova.. it's cleaner and i truly believe that is not my issue.

thoughts? opinions? concerns? you? anyone?

I say go for it man. You're not hurting for weed so missing a two plant harvest won't hurt much more than your feelings.

yea it's just my feelers!! slows the soil grows a little bit but nothing major. and if i really needed the space i'd get a tent. i just hate failing in general!

Also... if this final go doesn’t work, I'm willing to come help trash the system with you in a fit of rage.

thought about that... but knowing me i will carefully slice the recirc line so i can put it all back together with a coupler if i needed. i got plenty of stuff not worth anything if i wanna smash stuff!!! hahaha

i took the plants out because it's not gonna improve.. i had two in soil that were "can't get rights" so i pulled them and put the hydro plants in soil, maybe they'll recover...

001.JPG002.JPG

so with no plants in i took out all my sensors and stuff and put in some bleach crystals and scrubbed it really good with my toilet brush and i'm leaving it circulate on high speed for an hour or so then i'll drain and shop vac/wipe it out with cloths.

005.JPG

i'll start the new solution tomorrow.

actually i'm gonna go one step further and after it's been drained/cleaned and dried i'm gonna zap it with UV, i'll hit the rz and each plant site individually...

006.JPG

you can see the UV going all the way through the recirc tube!!!

trying to leave no stone unturned here.. Oh yeah speaking of stones.. replacing those too, all brand new clay this round.

gonna try mini multi colored leca balls for fun!!!

I mean shit, man.. my feelers are hurting for ya too. This has been exhausting on the spectator side of the screen. I can't imagine being the one dealing with it. Makes my complaints about genetic drift almost a nothingburger.

I hacked out a plant that just wouldn't produce any nuggets. White hairs but still stretching while the other 3 plants are starting to pack on weight. I was anticipating a full tent harvest for once but I dashed those dreams to pieces yesterday. 3 plants is still gonna be a record for me, I suppose.

I'm a pretty big fan of the smaller hydroton I've been using. Aside from the little balls getting everywhere, they work great at filling in all the spaces around my gro-plugs. They're no fun to plant a knee on though.. that'll take you down quick.

LOL. They look like the chocolate Easter eggs my wife likes to get each year. First thing I thought of was how would they do for a practical joke? 🤣

Nah, we have enough problems. She’d probably loose a tooth followed by her knocking out one of mine. 🤦

it was from your comments that made me go for the mini's.. i like them a lot better so far. they're much heavier. don't seem as porous, almost look kiln fired. stepping or kneeling on one will be no bueno.. i must take extra care to not drop any. it's why i like that they're heavier. plus the heavier my lids are the less chance of a leak!!

plus they add whimsy!!!! haha like little gumballs!!!

you might be okay for joke... they don't feel like candy, i don't wanna say you'd have to be dumb to wanna bite one but yeah you'd have to be pretty dumb!!! hahaha

they're brighter than i expected, reviews had people complaining they were dull... i think people just like to complain sometimes, even when they're wrong.

002.JPG003.JPG

the basil is still kickin!!!!!! ;hd parsley is kinda small yet...

006.JPG

gonna mix some nutes up later tonight and check on the seeds... the victims, oops i mean subjects will be:

have an awesome holiday weekend everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see a bowl of cereal but no milk?😋

here we go again!!!! not without drama though.. i killed those seedlings last night, the bigger 6" netcups and those newer smooth lecca balls were not a good combo. those little balls don't hold moisture like the un-fired clay does. they were dead in a few hours, never even had a chance.

so i pulled an audible and put in two young plants a started a couple weeks ago in soil to test my rainwater. these are Purple Fritter from greenpoint. these roots are already out of the netcups to start and shouldn't have an issue getting moisture.

009.JPG010.JPG

016.JPG

so we got the left boob..

018.JPG

and the right boob...

019.JPG

C'mon Stoney, don't kill the boobs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

017.JPG

nutes:
50ml buffer
25ml calmag plus
25ml GH trio
3ml of H2O2 - once this reaches zero ppm i will add bennies.

i think it's about 190ppm, i had to add a couple gallons of water to bring the level up for the smaller netcups and haven't officially checked it yet. i will tonight yet just for record.

ph is 5.8

lights:
California Light Works SS550 V1 x2 - i'm gonna turn these up a bit in a couple days when they shake the change. these are not the same panels i've been using previously. these are the lights from my soil cabinet. these two plants have been growing under these led panel since seed. so new to room but not the plants. same spectrum settings as well, just turned the power down for the transplant.

020.JPG

this will give me a little more data to my issue... is it over?? does it always take a couple weeks?? does it happen quicker when the plants are older??... just should give me more info to work off of if it still does have issues.

to sum up i am not using any DIY products this time. both ph up and down are standard GH and buffer as well just GH up like the first round and no agsil16 this time.

I have followed along pretty much but I can't find if there is any chance that copper or brass fittings are being used at a point after nutrients have been added?...I read the nutrients and low ph can cause them to leach into the system? May not be a thing but......
Edit: I saw where you added an aquarium heater after the first run.....copper coils?

this is a great point Driver, thanks for lookin out!!! i'm not sure if it has any metals in it but i know it wasn't in there the first grow so last week i removed it and it has not touched this solution at all. i forgot to mention it. so the add this one into the possible culprits if the problem goes away.

no heater
no DIY ph up or down
no agsil16 buffer. (which is also a diy mix)

one thing that is different that will stay is the seal i put on the top of the bucket.

i have data that shows it isn't a leach of anything but i still want to cover as many bases as i can here.

i happy to know that it is not my water supply and i have a good grip on that now!!

i'm excited to see if this continues on established seedlings or not and if still takes a couple weeks to set in even on established seedlings. i haven't looked in on them yet today, lights don't come on for another couple hours yet. i probably won't be home so i'll check em out later today.
