A Turkey In The Hay 🦃

Dude you got to get over it! My late father-in-law hit a deer back in the city just outside of Boston, totaled his brand new car. The very next year he hit another one! 🤷🏻 totaled another new car

People don't hit deer back in the city, never mind two in a row. But it happens bro! Don't let it get to you
Its just a fun rant you all understand. I don't really want to brain bash deer, I just have an odd sense of humour. I hate to see animals in distress or injured and I want to avoid collisions with them at all costs. My car was a beauty with a full tank of gas, it just hurt when I lost it. 1 second slower and I'd have missed it. I'm not a hunter either there's no way in hell I could ever shoot one I don't have that in me. I'm just an old curmudgeon with a bad attitude and odd sense of humour.

I know you're having fun with it, and it is so frustrating! I see them wander into the road all the time; but at the same time it's also a very unsettling experience

I saw your video, that was equally as bad as my hit, and equally as dangerous to you, we both got lucky!

You can see my repair up the top, now I'm doing a 1 hour low burn to cure it and then over the next 2 hours I have to bring it up to 500° to harden it

The cracking was minor, I forced some into every crack and there was a little bit of a eroded fascia on one brick which I gave a good thick skim coat

Should have mentioned that that little fire is likely my
'seasonal fire' 🔥

My patch looks goooood!
Truth be told I was a burner tech in the '90s, I've built, repaired, installed (you name it) lots of fire chambers, but that was over a quarter of a century ago, so let me have this victory lap! 😅🏁

It has already started snowing here.
Again, seems like we have very similar forecast from our weather guessers.
Nice on the repair~!
I have been using grape or cherry water [ propel] in my bong. ;roc
Never thought to try beef bouillon~! ;slap

Wow! the beef bouillon was a shock 😵‍💫 I was standing there for a few seconds like what the hell happened to my ice cubes??? 🤣

Thanks, the repair went well, I followed the directions and it adhered well. I feel better now that it's done

Can you do me a favor and keep the snow there? 😕

Man I can't seem to wake up I slept through two nights of 2:00 a.m. Cafe not that anyone would notice because I'm the only one at the cafe 😂🤣😂 but all kidding aside I'm just getting up now, I can't seem to wake up but I got some things to do before the snow but I feel like going back to sleep if I'm honest

Sometimes I'll sleep just three or four hours a night total for days on end but then I'll hit a stretch like this where I sleep all day

If I get insomnia I can sometimes fix it by staying up super long and crashing at a normal hour. Doesn’t always work but it works enough I still try it when necessary. 🍀

Supposed to sleet tomorrow but it's going to hit 40°f, so probably split some wood

Below 40° manufacturer recommends changing the oil in the splitter to a thinner viscosity

I'm not dealing with that mess & bother believe me, I have a hatchet and a hammer if I need a few smaller splits

My weather is bottoming out starting next week so I won't need much kindling or smaller pieces anyway.

Plus I have fatwood this year, that stuff's 🔥

This snow was yesterday afternoon but it didn't amount to much

The object: get the mail

The problem: mom and the twins LOL

I check now because of what happened a few weeks ago when I walked right up on these three and one of them basically jumped over my head the other one ran the other way and Mom just stood there looking at me like "what"?

Going through wood pretty good on the hay farm 🫤 my new way of burning might not be working out, may be scrapping that idea 🤔

Don't matter anyway cuz single digit temps going forward, so I'll have to keep up w/ it 🥶❄️

That's☝🏻about 3 days worth on the deck

They got me at 4-7 or 5-8 depending which guesser.
Both pretty similar.
I expect to be on the high side~!

So it's not enough I have to go early to get my mail to avoid them 🤷🏻

Tonight I had to wait till they cleared the yard to go get my firewood 🤦🏻

The deer are taking over...20251201_160440.jpg

First thing in the morning before the blizzard I've got get out there with a rake and rake up any loose
bark and small chunks of wood around the front of the firewood block

I want to keep that area free of snow this year because I might need some wood delivered in the spring and I don't want to suck up a chunk of wood in the snow blower. I'm surprised how much wood I went through so far

As y'all know there's so much to do before the first storm! I did about 20 things in an hour this morning and then soon as I came in the blizzard started, right on schedule

But what's the one thing I forgot to do? Look around the wood pile for chunks of wood 😂🤣😂🤣 I ran back out into the blizzard in a bathrobe and got it done!

I've raked that area several times and it was clear but I just wanted to give a last look around

I slept in today and had to do the naked running man to the basement in time to close the tent at lights out. Going to have to set an alarm going forward. 🤣

We ended up with 7 inches here and 9.5 inches just a couple miles down the road.
First day of the season on the roof with snow.
Yea~!

Yikes that's about what we got here! I was just thinking about the roof 😡 I've got a new roof rake 24 ft. long so I don't have to go up on ladders anymore like with the other one that was just 12ft. or so, it broke anyway

I've got things to do but I don't have to do them today (that's the beauty of being retired) they haven't even plowed my hill yet, so if I get my driveway clear today I'll call it a win 🍾🥳🏆 and I'll worry about getting the mundane done another day

If it was the handle that broke, I have replaced mine with pool cleaner sticks.
They are much more heavy duty and expandable.
Fortunately, I will be working on a flat roof.
But today is really day 1 on a couple month long project [probably] at the base of the Berkshires.
Seems like it will be a long full winter whenever it gets here.
Stay warm it is getting frigid the next week or so..

No it was the blade, I got a nice heavy duty one now, a top of the line Vevor sno-rake 🤣 but now I get it you're thinking about a job you're on, I'm thinking about getting the damn snow off of this main room, the main room doesn't have the same pitch it's just a, you know a little... it's concerning 😞

Edit: but this was relatively light snow I'm not worried about it but it has to be done before the next storm

If I get the driveway cleaned and the roof scraped today, a cart or two of wood up on the deck I'm going to take the victory

I can reach over 3/4 of the roof from the ground, no more ladder! 🥳🍾20251203_070851.jpg

I'm trying to wake up enough to go water the plants, but so far as sleep is winning 😴💤
Everything's done, plants are beautiful🤌🏻🪴 I'll get a picture for this weekend's update

Tired, between Tuesdays getting ready for the storm and then cleaning the snow and bringing in wood 😓 I ended up making last night's dinner just now for breakfast 🤣

Today I've got to get ready for Sub-Zero temperatures (that means haul wood) LOL but first another nap! 😴

Edit: I just got up and it's snowing again lol nobody mentioned this? (well one of my weather apps did but I chose not to believe it🤣)

okay it's winter it's New England it's the first storm I'm over it all right, forget about the snow it's here for the next 5 months
