The ambient temperature in the room was almost 68°, so the low tent temperature didn't make senseThese are the temps I'm dealing with, 65°f is the grow tentView attachment 119966
I just turned the light from 400 to 600 watts, I meant to do it last night but Kitty and I were hunting a mouse all nighta successful hunt I might add
The temperature went up a degree in about 5 minutes! I do have reptile heaters but we'll see how this goes first
I'm hoping for 68°f, that's the best I can do during the coldest part of the night due to proximity to the heat source
Plants are still doing good, they seem happy! I'm happy, Kitty's happy, everyone's happy, so Merry Christmas!!!
View attachment 119965
btw I got to say Merry Christmas for the first time this year yesterday to the woman who works at the post office (she's also my neighbor) I realized I probably wouldn't see her again this year, so...
Edit: I have a new 25 ft of 6-in vent, I'm going to use it in the tents inlet and run it into the main room, it's black so I can put it behind furniture or what have you unnoticed, it will add a degree or two
Ya, cold doesn't help growth at all. If it was me I'd have the heat on asap to get it up 76-78f with lights on. Its the water in the pots I don't want cold, the soil doesn't dry fast enough and the roots sit in cold & damp too long. I've added scrap styrofoam pieces and a sleeping bag on top of my tent, it needs more but it helps keep the heat I get in the tent longer ( I hope) Good luck we've just started the BS, summer can't get here soon enough for my liking. Now that I think about it back at the beach house I had a thick styrofoam floor underneath the tents floor pan
I think I packed all that styrofoam, think I saw it up in the garage loft, I'll take a look if I remember later when I'm getting wood. It might add a bit more insulation
(This is basically a reminder to myself)![]()
Hey how you feeling, how are the headaches?Ya, cold doesn't help growth at all. If it was me I'd have the heat on asap to get it up 76-78f with lights on. ya when ever I get styrofoam sheets in packaging I put it on top, not the formed stuff with odd shapes, just flat squares or side package stuff. ...it was -10 c this am with a light dusting of snow. I have my 1250w oil filled heater running to keep flower tent 24-25c or 77-78f with lights on, it drops to about 67-68f at nightHey how you feeling, how are the headaches?
Best I can do is 68 to 74f, the last two grows were in that range and they did fine, and this one's doing fine too.
Wood heat is very dry, the humidity now is only 35% in the tent, 25% in the house and I have a lot of air movement, both high and low in there so they're happy!
I added a 60 watt reptile heater, I have another one but that one seems to be doing the trick, it's already 70 in there, if I can keep it above 68 during the dark daytime period I'll be happy with that
Edit: You mentioning styrofoam roof made me recall that I used to throw a thick blanket over the top of both tents at the beach house, thanks for mentioning that !!! I'm going to do that right now
Edit: Done!my Navajo blanket fit perfectly! (relax it's only a knockoff
)
Well I have these big I think they're 18" × 14" × 3/4" sheets and I had a perfect floor for the 5x5 and the 4x4 made from themya when ever I get styrofoam sheets in packaging I put it on top, not the formed stuff with odd shapes, just flat squares or side package stuff. ...it was -10 c this am with a light dusting of snow. Ya, its funny that we don't think of that when it comes to heating our tents. I've spoken to a few guys growing in garages that say it costs too much to heat in the winter and I suggest either framing in or just insulating the tent and its ;like a light goes off and wtf why didn't I think of that. Believe me I got that from another guy and it was like a head slap when he said insulate I looked left and saw my sleeping bags sitting on a bench, like wtf....lol.....Well I have these big I think they're 18" × 14" × 3/4" sheets and I had a perfect floor for the 5x5 and the 4x4 made from them
I'm pretty sure they're out in the garage and when I go out to get wood later I'm going to see if I can't find them, that'll give me another layer insulation on the floor. On the roof I now have a blanket, fits perfect too, thanks again for reminding me about that! My memory was never great and it's not getting any better
Edit: At 10° out, the tents holding at 67.6 / 36%rh![]()
Like me, I forgot about it till you mention it, then the little light bulb went onYa, its funny that we don't think of that when it comes to heating our tents. You have to watch those reptile heaters they melt anything close, I've 2 of them a 75w and a 150w I'll use 1 or the other or both when real cold in my veg tent. I have a fan dedicated to blowing over the top of them. It doesn't take much of a touch to burn skin. I've hit the back of my hand a few times now and just a touch burns and leaves an ouch markLike me, I forgot about it till you mention it, then the little light bulb went onI forgot a lot of stuff in the almost 4 years I was away
Anyway it just hit 68°f in tent with lights out, and it's 12° out with 14° for a high so it's going to work, and I can get it to probably 74° tonight at 0° out, with just 400 Watts with the reptile heater and other modifications

I meant "took away 200 watts of power" not 400Even better! And I'm back to 400watts too, added 60 watts of heat, took away 400 watts of power ...don't need 600 watts in a 4x4 tent, its overkill.
Maine has the highest increase in electrical prices in the nation, so if I can save a few watts here and there it don't hurt the home team!

I was vegging with a 74w spiderfarmer SF600 for a few years. it did great, I even used it as an end piece over flowering plants to extend my lights coverage, the buds under it grew as well as any. Its a bit too large length ways to fit in my 3x3 so it sits in a box now but 74w was ample in veg until I needed a larger foot print then I added a 100w burple.I meant "took away 200 watts of power" not 400

Thanks! Interesting you mentioned Hurricane, I was looking through my Amazon orders and I remembered an old hurricane that worked well for a long time, so that's what I bought. I take clip fans apart and clean and oil them once a month, it really helpsPlants look great.
Fans are one of the weak spots in equipment IMO.
I use Hurricane and only had 1 mishap that was probably my own fault.
None of my fans are little clip ons thought.
Well I have one little Hurricane but I rarely run the tent so don't use it enough to rate it.
It may be 3-4 years old and still working.

I use them all, I use GH bloom from the first time I feed through to the last. At 2- 6 weeks into flower I add KoolBloom liquid along with Bloom at week 6 -9 I switch to Koolbloom dry and still add reg Bloom. I've grown without the Koolblooms but I get bigger, harder & tighter buds using them than I did withoutI don't usually use 'bloom' formulas, I've grown many plants with Schultz 20 20 20 and a little Calimagic like the one pictured belowView attachment 120379
I've switched to 'bloom' with a month to go but I'm likely going to go back to the even mix, it's easier for me to mix it and imo I don't really believe there's a need for a 'bloom' mix
Plants don't care if I put in less of this and more of that, the plant is only going to take what it needs regardless what stage of growth it's in, and as long as it's all available the plant is happy.
They really do like this GH trio though, I remember they like it before but I stopped using it because it got pricey. I've been using Masterblend and Schultz 20/20/20 (5lbs. / $16) for the last six, seven years. I use Schultz on the tomatoes too, they love it!
I'll probably go back to the even 'transition to bloom' mix
I've noticed you have quite an array of products going on! Must be the minimalist in me but I find three ingredients a little muchI use them all, I use GH bloom from the first time I feed through to the last. Another product I like from GH in soil is Floralicious Plus, a potent little bottle of shit that helps my plants absorb the nutrients we give them. When I switch to the Autopots I switch to Diamond Nectar a cleaner version of the fulvic and humic acids in them that do the job of breaking down the nutes into the ions plants absorb. I noticed an improvement in my plants health & color after I started using the Floralicious Plus at 1ml/galI've noticed you have quite an array of products going on! I'm trying to decide if I'm coming down with the damn flu or notI've had a headache since last night.
I have Ivermectin in the house so if I still have the headache tonight I'm going to start a cycle
Just finished clearing the driveway, got to scrape the roof this afternoon so I hope not

I don't know anything about your TM7 I've never used anything except GH nutes. I use the Myco's in my veg mix but stopped using it in flower when I go heavier with nutes. Synthetic nutes and organics,ie: microbe's don't coexist with chemical nutes very well. What do you think of this product?
I found some in my still-packed boxes, it's very old but I'm sure it's still good.
Its humic and fulvic and several other ingredients, I watered it in once in awhile, maybe a couple times per growView attachment 120392

Edit: I just bought this, you guilt me into buying this stuff! Just kidding, I've used it for years!View attachment 120394
