First one of the four cauliflowers got infested with aphids so bad I just ripped out the plant. I didn’t check them for to days because of the weather and smoke. Seems that was all they needed. Never seen so many!

Using Safer’s soap has cleared out what was left. I’ll be checking each morning and night until I know they are gone. Need to spray at least once a week the next two weeks when eggs hatch.

This morning I found what I thought was a rabbit chewing the base of a tomato stalk. G$ thinks it’s probably a rat. Either way it’s got to be stopped. View attachment 132719View attachment 132720

Big bug problems here this year, not been bothered by them before, but this year we have been plagued with them, lost salad crops, cucumbers, a fruit tree looks like its on its way out too, its either spray some things to murder them, and risk eating the residue, or loose out, tried the various soaps with little change, slowed them down, but not enough for a victory, even neem failed.

I saved the remaining three cauliflower but I’ve sprayed once a week the last few weeks to make sure. Safer’s doesn’t always work but I have high success so far.

With all the rain this year a lot of bugs are rampant. Even in the city we fear going into the garden or yard after dark. Mosquitoes are bad and hungry.

Moths are a big pain this year. Laying eggs on leaves. Going to try putting up abet to stop them, birds and squirrels.

Found these on sale for $27. But they are no longer 107L now they are 85L. Might grab two more later.

I like SSM#4 better than ProMix.


Wifey loves blueberries so we grabbed two small bushes on sale. We’ll see if at least one survives the winter.

I still use this stuff. I bought 2 bags last November and I still have 3/4 of a bag left along with perlite and the clay balls on the bottom of the pots I'm not using as much soil

I went back and grabbed two more. Stores close and the best deal I’ve found so far.

The large bags I used to get for $32-$38 depending on location. But that was after Covid but before all this new BS. One store is gone the other iso line only now.

Now I can only find them at one store for $45. That’s too much and the store is further away

1 bag/bale is compressed the other lose. I used to buy the solid bales but the smaller bags are easier to handle. I can plant 4 plants in my 3.9 gal pots with perlite and bottom 2" in clay balls using a bit less than 1/2 a bag and Home Hardware carries it 2km away

Yeah that’s the only store I found and it says call for stock check but they will ship to store for pickup.

We finished the fence a few days ago but we added netting over the weekend.

The pollen got washed away by all the rain before the hairs had all come out. So I’m hoping we get a good amount of kernels.

Lots of cucumbers each week. And we have plenty of tomatoes but all green still.

Sugar baby watermelon and cauliflower got hit the hardest by the wildlife. They are still trying but I don’t think they have enough time to recover enough for any decent amount to harvest.

The cayenne pepper plant might actually be a Thai pepper.

Gorilla Blue #4 is coming along.


My son brought home two more 15L/4G jugs. I’ll use the clear one for feeding mixes and the stronger white one for rain water collection.


I did shorten the lights on period from 12/12 to 10.5/13.5 so my sons closing and opening the tent on his schedule. I also bumped the light from 60% to 70% intensity. We’ll keep an eye out for any leaf burn or canoeing.

The onions I let go to seed were harvested and dried a while ago. I just cut off the heads and put them into a paper bag.

Yesterday I had to manually open all the flowers and dig out the seeds. More effort than I was expecting but I’ve got plenty of seeds now.

Needed a smoke break.


No two seeds are the same size or shape. They are about the size of poppy seeds.

I’ll pop a few just to see what happens but the rest I’ll save for next February/March.

The Teddy Bear Sunflowers are doing well this year. Unfortunately that cold snap in May/June killed the rest of the seedlings.



The Blueberry bushes have been sprayed with Safer’s soap twice and left outside. I planted one before bed the other will get planted tonight when my wife picks the spot.

Just waiting for these peonies seed pods to mature and start drying before I cut them off.

Those onion seeds remind me when i used to collect my morning glory seeds every season, some for next year, some to try LSA, which i never did try to make lol, that methanol step scared me then

The woman who used to live here had a wild English garden. Full of color and medicinal plants. Little by little they have faded away. One was a real poppy plant. I was too chicken to ever do anything with it but it was big and had so many flowers. My second dog didn’t like it and kept peeing on it and my wife would run it over with the lawn mower each spring, so it’s gone now.

Love that sunflower!

Only the two I started first for the front porch survived. Half a dozen Mammoth Sunflowers and a few more Teddy Bear got zapped by the cold with or crazy spring this year.

If you’d like some seeds, garden or home made cannabis, let me know. I even have Bandits Haunted Banana. I’ll send them in a Christmas card.

Since my sons always wearing the hat when I see him I think if you often.

He’s dressed for the heatwave and humidity as the AC sucks at the pool hall.

20260813: Gorilla Blue #4


The first plant is looking good and hit its first top dressing on the 10th. The new one it trying to catch up and I feel is past the danger point.


Sons SB#22 & GG#4 are doing well since flip.


The lights are at 70% power and the lights been raised to match the stretch. About 10 more days before that’s over. I had my son do some bottom trimming and clear out the lower middle. He can finish trimming by the weekend. Small bites.
