Amateur Autoflower Attempt (First grow!)

Looking good! You got a place to dry them out ready to go? Tent in the garage wasn’t it?

At 85 days I’d be itching to chop. Are the bulk of trichomes cloudy?
Tent in the basement!

I would say the bulk of them are cloudy, maybe 10% still look a bit clear.

If 90% are cloudy and hardly any amber I’d chop now. It sounds like the perfect time unless you want a more couch lock experience.

Just make sure the dry and cure go well. Humidity is the big one, try to keep that under control. If temperature is on the cool side that’s fine, it will just go slower.

Look forward to your smoke report. 🍿💨

Orange Diesel #1 status update: Chopped, partly trimmed, and drying ;thup

Did a 3 part bud wash, shook off as much water as I could before hanging them up. Setting the exhaust fan speed a bit higher than usual + opened the higher air intake ports in the tent to get some direct air flow on the harvest for a couple hours to get rid of any extra moisture. After that I'll close the higher air intakes and open one of the lower ports for the remainder of the dry.

If humidity becomes a problem you can wet trim while it hangs. Just sweep up the leaves when done. Make sure you have the air circulating. I use a small clip fan I point at one wall and leave it on until I jar.

Week #13

Grapefruit Haze #1 Day 73
- Fattening up despite the recent issues. I think the yellowing has almost completely stopped now.
1786494961390.jpeg1786494988177.png

Grapefruit Haze #2 Day 73 - I initially thought the purple was just normal fade but now I'm thinking it might be something else. This plant doesn't seem to be bulking up much compared to GH #1.

The Beast #1 Day 72 - Chop time soon I'm thinking!

Orange Diesel #2 Day 84 - Not sure how long this one will go for after having stalled for so long. We'll see

Week #12

Grapefruit Haze #1 Day 67
- The browning/leaf issues continued for a few days before slowing down. I gave it a big watering recently to make sure everything was saturated. Not sure what the issue could be as GH #2 has gotten the exact same water/food/environment. Also notices a bunch of foxtails all around the plant. Probably from the same stress that caused the yellowing.

Grapefruit Haze #2 Day 67 - Added some support for the main stem

The Beast #1 Day 58 - Starting to stink up the neighbourhood

Orange Diesel #1 Day 85
- Not noticing anything getting bigger but I dont really see any amber through the loupe. Keeping her going and checking every day

Orange Diesel #2 Day 78 - Might be getting fatter than #1 at this point

Hey nice to meet you! Looking good

Thanks for checking out my grow!

Bad news unfortunately. I lost my second largest cola on GH #1 to rot. I accidentally left the plants out exposed to the rain a couple days ago and I think that's what did it (+ constant high humidity). Tried my best to dry them off right after by shaking them, using a leaf blower, and even a massage gun (which worked surprisingly well).

Keeping an eye out for more, now I'm paranoid 😅

I’ve lost a few myself to bud rot. Once inside and twice outside. Cut it off low and keep moving. I found it wasn’t worth trying to save anything from the infected colas. Just keep closer watch next time and cover from rain if you can. I don’t even do foliar sprays once stretch is over.

Week 14#

Found some more mold/rot on GH #1 the other day so I decided to chop The Beast to prevent any more. Slightly early but it was fairly cloudy @ 77 days total. Did a hefty wet trim to keep the humidity down. I spent quite a bit of time trying to get the excess water out after the wash (shaking, swinging, massage gunning) so I hope it works out. Praying for no mold 🙏

We all have bad luck. You’re taking it well. Don’t take any chances with any flower you even think might have mold/rot. Just toss it.

Looks like you’re on top of things. 👊

i agree with Zen. i know since you didn't get the bud from it you might not totally be happy about it but you did a great job and you have a harvest from your first grow. bigger and better than my first harvest thats for sure!!

i really hope you stick with it and grow again, i know i'd like to see a journal of it 100%!

can't wait to hear how that orange diesel tastes!!!

Thanks guys! I really appreciate you taking the time to check out my grow and give feedback.

I'm very happy with how things have gone so far and how much I've learned. Already thinking about my next grow, excited to use the tent for some indoor growing over the winter!

Indoor plan is soil or another grow type like hydro?

I love seeing people get into it, it's exciting,i love it, my friends just like smoking it lol

Soil for sure, still have quite a bit of organic nutes to use but I definitely want to try other methods eventually.

For the next grow I'd like to try some sort of bottom watering/wicking base, still looking into potential options that work well with soil and top fed nutes.

We’ve all been there. Helping others is part of the fun when you know what’s worked, or not, for you in the past. Best part is we don’t have any trolls to bash ideas.

Excellent!

Indoors different and has its bonuses and difficulties. For me environment is the biggest challenge. Temperature and humidity is at the mercy of the outside weather in part.

If you can see what challenges you’re going to face with the tents location now. Makes it easier to deal with in advance.

We’ll be here to help as we can. 👊

Indoor def has its nuances, i love it,i feel in control of every variable, but on the same hand that's more room for error.

Took me 3 years to finally put a dedicated AC for the grow room, i used to struggle with heat in flowering as my grow room is small. HUGE difference. Best goddamn dry/harvest i ever had after installing AC. Trichomes do not like heat, or so I've been told lol

Long story short have a dehumidifier ready if you are in a climate like mine in Virginia for sure. I only use a humidifier in winter for the first 3 weeks of a grow. Fyi
