What’s going on here?

So this is a Blue Dream planted in living soil that has cooked for a month. I planted it about a week ago and now I have this yellowing at the bottom. Is this a deficiency? I have several other plants of other strains that are closing great. Just this one plant has this going on.

There’s one for the myth buster - I’ve heard not to use spring water because of the inconsistent micros ? Bro science?

I use spring water exclusively for germinating seeds. Probably just depends on the spring and how it's fed. There are some brackish aquifers in areas feeding springs, I think Death Valley in California has a brackish spring, and drawing water deep from an aquifer can pull up brackish water where as the surface of that water flowing out a spring would be clean but for the most part spring water is some of the best sourced water around.

I’m at the point that I’m pretty sure next time round is liquid nutes again and leave the dry nutes for the garden, for now.

Remove the extra variables and stick with one brand again, get a little faster results. I also don’t want to end up fighting my solid nutrients if I have a deficiency again.

You know... you could make this a crowd source choice...if not this one another later...anything that you feel can be left to us to decide. Maybe be put together a few choices like bundles. Then ask us to pick a bundle. Or you say what the base is and then we steer the options?

Truth is I don't expect to have too many problems. I may not know dirt, but I think I kinda understand what the plants are going thru and can correct. Hopefully.

But your point is a good one and I can put some of these decisions up to the crew here.

I may be biased but I really think salt ferts in soil get a bad rap. I've never had issues of salt buildup or anything like that and, yes, it's WAY easier to steer your crops with immediately available nutrient rather than slow release. Nothing wrong with it but, IMO, I think powdered ferts are best left to outdoor grows. Not to say that people don't get great results indoors but, again, the steering thing is what keeps me on the bottle.

Also, Aquaman's breakdown of how nutrient ions break down confirmed a lot of what I thought as far as organic vs synthetic nutrients.

I've posted it before but I'll post it again. I use a very simple recipe with very few amendments and get decent results.

Advanced Nutrients Bud Candy a week before flip and I stop at the end of week 6.

The Bud Candy I'll probably eliminate and just raise Cal/Mag. After reading the active ingredients I realized it's mainly just more Mag with some carbs to feed the enzymes and bacteria.

My theory is that the nutrient feeds I give are more a supplement to the available soil nutrients present in the media.

Been thinking about this. I think I am going with jacks for some of them. I’d like to learn more about that.

I could do gh in some. I’m also considering @Shaded gia green method in some.

I’m going to use the duper duper platinum soil @MysticEpipedon recommended for some.

I got 12 seeds. I’m sure one way will be successful.

I’ll use the best one as the clone mom for ongoing testing.

I am thinking of doing 12 starts in 4 different methods. 3 fem seeds in each.

Get thru veg, and cull down to 8 plant sites in my 4x8. Light and environment will not be an issue, this will all be about the side by side responses to just the different grow media.

So each plant will have a 2x2 grow space. I do not intend to scrog so I can move plants as needed.

So I need to nail down the 4 grow methods, one of which being yours. This is going to be fun, and I'll finally get some dirt experience under by belt.

I like dirt. I am trying to get this living soil thing figured out. Mostly because I need the least amount of work possible for growing. I want it to all organic and as natural as possible because I consume so much of this plant. Good luck with your soil grow!

One thing I will say is this, I don’t think you get a true side by side comparison if it’s not all the same genetics. I have learned this with some of my “testing”.

One thing I will say is this, I don’t think you get a true side by side comparison if it’s not all the same genetics. I have learned this with some of my “testing”.

You are correct ma'am. As usual

My plan was to select the absolute best specimen out of these 12 seeds and clone it and put it on ice with Tissue Culture. I now have an endless supply of the best single plant I find. All subsequent testing will be based on that DNA.

I would then do an RDWC vs < insert best resulting soil grow method from this trial > using those genetics. That will be the real test. We could scrog that one, each getting 4x4.

Hydro or soil, which gives better smoke?

I would personally drive down with an unmarked test bud from each grow, and you can decide which is better. 100% legal for us to do so now.

I suppose I could start a poll on what genetics to run, but I was planning on doing Mac Dragon x BX1 by @dragonsflamegenetics

I chose that at the time specifically for hydro because of the massive vascularity and structure to hold big weight. It was destined to be my fogponics guest star. But I could be convinced to go with a more neutral genetic for this kind of test. Just gotta decide quick. I'm sure I can get cuts from many people like @Moshmen and @Anthem275

You are one of the guys that might benefit from THCp. It could break thru some tolerance issues. I've been trying to find it in plant form for a while to share with folks like you and its not really happening. I found THCv but this one is not as easy. I'd probably have to grow 1000 plants to find it. Feels like anyway.

Yeah I actually bought some THCP distillate and tried it. I just vaped it all but I didn’t have any effects from it. I felt really ripped off but who knows what I actually bought. It was hemp derived. I have been losing weight and laying off the RSO and my tolerance is slowly lowering. Weight loss is a big one as it is stored in your fat. I am also very interested in THCV but that sounds like a hard one to get. HOKU seeds regularly drops THCV strains but I haven’t tried any. If it is that hard to find a good phenotype I probably won’t mess with growing it.
