Back in the game, HLG Blackbird vs ABS and Phlizon FD-8000 vs GSK

Sup awesome BB peeps from far, near, and anywhere in between. Been out of the loop for a bit handlin some biz but am stoked to get back in the box. Already off to slightly rocky start but as my great Sensei@CannaGranny taught me not long ago, just relax and take a chill pill Bub I've tried to take that to heart the past couple grows and it has helped a lot. Without further ado, allow me to introduce the young ladies.

Tent 1 vs Phlizon FD-8000 - GSK(Grape Shugga Kookiez) from local AZ breeder Patience Genetics. (Slurricane x Platinum) x (Grape Stomper x Cherry Pie x Wedding Cake).

Tent 2 vs HLG Blackbird - ABD(Apple Banana Shugga) from Patience Genetics. (Slurricane x Platinum) x (White Runtz x Apples & Bananas)

Genetic make-up =
“Shhuga” hunted rare pheno of Sugar Cane from Inhouse Genetics- (Slurricane (Dosidos x Purple Punch) x Platinum. Pheno chosen has sugary, gassy, toffee like terp profile. Very potent, extreme trichome production, super short 45 day flowering time.
“Apple Banana” hunted pheno of White Apple Runtz from Starfire Genetix- (White Runtz Cut x Apples & Bananas Cut (Compound Genetics). Pheno chosen terp profile reminiscent of Apple and Banana Candy. Very potent, heavy trichome production, monstrous yields.
“Grape Cookiez” hunted pheno of Grape Cookiez from South Beach Genetics (rare) (Grape Stomper x Cherry Pie x Wedding Cake F4). With help of a fellow grower we have found that it is same strain going as “Grape Cake” by Seed Junky which I believe came later. Pheno chosen had strong Sweet Grape and slight cherry terp profile with added flavors of cookies/cake. Very potent, heavy trichomes, heavy yields.


This was 1st grow ever I skipped prior germination methods and went straight to soil. Even after looking up which end to place the seeds up or down, of course I fuckin botched it and listened to google when I already knew from friend @organic_cannabis_indoor that the opposite is actually true. So I planted pointy end down like and likely lost a day or 2 but was able to get 100% germination.

1st pic is 7 days from planting seed, 2nd and 3rd is 14 days, and 4th and 5th are day 22(yesterday when potted up to 5gs). Let me know what yall think and as always I am COMPLETELY open to any and all help or advice, criticism or critiquing, but tend to prefer the 1st 2

Yellowing of the leaves I believe was a result of either over-watering while in solos(only gave them 1/4 cup once, then 1/2 cup once, and ensured there was no run off left but I think I choked em out and stunted nute uptake. I am using soil from like the past 4 grows lol. What could go wrong. Hopefully I've picked up enough along the way that I was able to till and amend the soil sufficiently. Time will tell. Keep easy out there and make it a great weekend.

You got this. All that hard earned knowledge gets to be put to good use now. CG's a great coach and she taught you well.

Like I said before. Plants can read your feelings. If you come in chill and happy they're happy and will thrive but if you're always in a bad mood or scared they get weird too. Probably just me but that's what I've experienced.

Hell yeah man I live it and HLGs customer service is sick. I've called twice and they always answer and are willing to help. I've struggled to learn how to harness its power(rarely get near 75% power ever) but I save some electricity while trying. Has great coverage for a 4x4 and I bet would do well in a 5x5

My dimmer went bad and they next day aired me a new one ! Fully impressed

I decided to stick with a bit of copper wire on the top soil. I honestly believe some pests might "feel/sense" it and don't like it. Didn't seem to hurt last grow and also didn't see a single pest so what the hay and just reused the same wire.
Haven't been this excited about a strain till this grow. I watched this dude Ryan on fb from souther AZ make them over the course of a year. There is a grow-off on fb in his group and like 10-15 people are all growing both strains simultaneously for maybe 6-8 weeks now. My tents were still full when it started or I would have jumped in for hell of it. Been cool to see a bunch of strangers all growing it though and all of them look great so far. Only time will tell but I think if I can just get watering practices down I like my odds.

Hah I hear that. I do the same and also play "music for plants" through and Amazon dot while they sleep. You can just see how negative people constantly have negative shit happening and give off bad juju vibes. Think the same goes for the opposite so only makes sense there are plenty of beneficial energies to harness if one knows how.

It has been proven that Copper wire repels slugs and snails.What are the odds that those are the only 2 things on earth it repels? In my opinion a copper wire criss/cross "net" placed on the top soil, has a high likelihood of acting as a "No pass" zone for at least some pests.

They are my soil Guardians Some are 45+ years old
They are also how I know who is who in case I choose to clone. Momma hippo is GSK 4, her baby is GSK 3, marbles are 1s, etc.

That is soil from past 3+ grows. I spread it out then tilled and amended. Then I misted the soil with 4g of water to hydrate.

Yooooooo bro I'm doin aight bud thanks much for asking. I'm so out of the loop I can't see straight. I can't even update my own grow journal

yesterday was 7 weeks since seed to soil.
Week 5 I had preflowering on all 8
Yesterday I topdressed and watered
Planning to Flip next Thurs-Sat at 8 weeks from soil

Seems like the Phlizon fd-8000 literally pawns the HLG as far as growth goes. These 2 strains should be much closer to the same and the difference is obvious. Also having issues with "cupping" I believe from too high heat and too low RH but quite strange it occurs in the tent that is always 2-3 degrees cooler. They seem to be doing pretty good and when I look back at past grows, I am feeling like these genetics are pretty strong.

heyyyy brotha G. I'm alive. Naww I think I have a ways to go for sure. Saturday would be 4 weeks of flower. Did finally start gettin some terps though and whoa, again it hit me why it is all worth it. The smell of apple and banana runtz candies in one tent, and an orgy of grape makers in the other.

How about you? Anything cookin under the bright lights?

Seemed to go from triple digits to holy shit break out the heavy gear, overnight. Truly beautiful weather lately though for sure. This is why people live here.
