Zen’s Winter Run 2025

Sons better, wife’s miserable, and I’m just behind my wife a few days with this cold or bug. It’s like a sinus head cold with a chest cold added. Pain in parts of your limbs. Like arthritis or cramps in your extremities.

I was able to swap the dehumidifier tub/bucket at the store. Just by asking.

Testing the last day and a half has been great.

Lights out.


Still need to hang two pictures and do a final dusting and vacuuming but over all we are all happy with the rearrangement. Impressive since all three of us are sick.

Well it seems I can sleep for 3hrs, then up for 2 ad repeat.

So up at midnight and clones that needed trimming and water were taken care of. Water with a little 4:4:4.

Rooms all done with final dusting and vacuuming remaining. I’d like to say all the totes are organized but let’s just say they are off to a good start. I plan to use the cart to hold plants for trimming and such with the most often tools needed/used underneath. (I know, good luck with that.)









The plants are looking good and bulking up.

The new tub/bucket I swapped yesterday morning. Since then the dehumidifier has been working great. Fast enough I’ve dumped the bucket twice in 12hrs.

Nice to see things in a good place.

Okay enough on this. Rooms done. Back to it being all about the plants.

My helper is so tired. She has to follow me even if I’m up and down all night.

I hate when you break down and buy new only to find out that wasn’t the problem.

You ruled out the appliance being the issue and you know you have power.

That leaves the line, any junctions, boxes or panels.

I think you said it’s a straight run so either the wire/insulation, connections on either end or the panel. The fuse box is old. Can you kill the main to it so you can check the fuse block where it connects to the bus? Might have a short or be worn after all these years?

Feel your pain bud. Hope you find it soon. This weather we have is heading your way. You’re going to need a working dryer.

Yes, I’ve always got one or two dabs kicking around. Usually to free old/rusty nuts or hinges.

I’ll open up the motor later this month when I’m feeling better. Finding the refurbished 50 pint dehumidifier was almost perfect timing now that the ribs been replaced.

The old ones great and fast and all metal. If I can find the motor online I’ll see about that. My last parts store seems to carry a replacement motor that will work but not the same shaft connection.

GrumpAss was right that Amazon has options but $100+ is a last option.

We’ll see…

Agreed. Just different shaft connections. That stupid rubber fan blade connector must act like a clutch or something. Not sure. Might just have been cheaper than using a metal one.

Glad y'all are recovering from whatever that bug is. Ran through my house a few weeks back. Good times? Imagine the opposite, with joint pain.

On the verge of flipping to flower. Lots of work to do for cleanup pre-flip, but goal is to make this a hallmark run.

Moms are getting a haircut tonight. Think, bootcamp buzz cut. They're too big, and have no business being such. No one needs bushes for clones, when clones aren't needed.

The room is so strong it burns the eyes. Your nose runs. The different aromas hit you in layers.







Fed all the plants and watered it in. Trimmed a few more dead end branches. A few are real limp and thin so S hooks and yoyos were used. Any that had good size buds were saved.

Family has been in bed trying to sleep whenever possible. Heading to work today.

Dehumidifier is making a big difference compared to the couple of weeks without one.

Looking after the plants while sick sucked. Skipped one day so they got watered late. More than once I wasn’t sure if it was day or night. Lol

Tried to mail a package to the states Saturday. Seems the rules got changed in August. Now you need to DL an app that you need CC to use and pay a fee even if it’s still considered a duty free gift package. They give you a code that the post office now requires before they will ship to the US. Without this code they won’t take it.



We don’t use credit cards so I’m not sure how to proceed. Need to find a real post office rather than the drugstore one. Most have been gone for years.

I can also see if COD is still an option since there shouldn’t be any duty even after all the new changes.

Not liking this new world order.

Garden is looking happy and healthy there Zen!

Not sure if preloaded cc will work for you. I used those a long time ago when ordering seeds.
Shipping fees and duties seem to be a moving target in the USA.

The international shipping rates that I pay may or may not be enough with each package.
Filament from Spain for example. Shipping fees covered duties and I got my package. I could've overpaid but IDK for sure. If you over pay, they keep it.
The next package I order, I underpay the shipping rate and UPS then sends me a bill to pay what's left to cover duties or they won't deliver($28)

The Chinese have found a way to circumvent all of it. Look up the founder of the company GoFo if you wanna waste some time. He's an American born Chinese-American who started a shipping company that almost exclusively ships for Chinese companies like Temu inside US borders circumventing all duties and tariffs while also not needing to use any US based shipping service to do it.
Fun times for all us plebs in the world. The bureaucracy in it seems to double with each passing year especially with trade and America's current leadership

Playing with the 3D printer. I got a new phone for Christmas. Need to find a new pay as you go provider. But I was able to print a case that fits nicely. Also has a hex connection for accessories. So had to try a few. View attachment 122856View attachment 122857

Weathers crazy. 5* today and dripping after yesterday’s snow. It’s going to be 14* tomorrow. If the grounds actually frozen there’s going to be flooding.

I’ve got to call the PO and see what’s what. What my options are. Just think this border BS is making things worse for average people.

I don’t want/need an app knowing anymore of my business or who I associate with. Data has been the gold of the rich since banks and credit were invented.

It’s just adding to the time and hassle of trying to send a few friends a few silly stocking stuffers.

I’d rather they look in the box, see what’s being sent, and then either pass it or charge me for it right then and there.

I don’t mind it. It’s following the game pretty well. I like the actors from other things they’ve done in the past which helps. I enjoy seeing the old style new tech. Reminds me of things in the 70’s and the promise of jet packs and flying cars. Things like refrigerators and stoves having wings and chrome like the family car.

At one time our schools had duck and cover drills just like fire drills. Posters on the walls and short movies they’d play on projectors. Because we all know school desks were nuke proof protection.

20260121: GM & GGB#4 T-16

Still testing the dehumidifier. The swing from warm temps to cold has lowered the RH daily. I’ve set it up so the pump kicks on to drain the tub into a large 5-6 gallon jug. Over the last two days it’s filled the internal tub 2/3’s so I expect it should kick on tonight before lights on.

This should stop any auto shutoff. It will also show me that the pump works without any leaks.

Buds are still beefing up. I can’t remove the plants anymore as the branches fall over with their own weight.





After a chat with AI it’s believed I can go to a real post office and get them to make the ID and check the items for any possible duty.

Most real post offices are either gone or turned into sorting and holding areas. I did find one that’s less than 30 minutes away but I’ll be waiting for a little warmer temperatures before leaving the house.

How’s that saying go… No good deed goes unpunished?

-12* at the moment with -22* with wind chill.

Keep warm people. We still have about 65 more days of this before .

The pump works. Doesn’t empty the internal tub but removes about 20% in this test. But it means we are good the next time the humidity goes way up.

About an hour after lights on and the dehumidifier off.



Still putting things away in totes and containers. The layout is working out much better than I thought. Just a tight fit to do any real work in the tent. Watering isn’t too bad with the wand and stool.

No more yellow exercise ball, to big too fit. Trying to make the wheeled cart like a triage cart with most often used items. Keep the top clear to put plants on so I can work on them. Unfortunately the plastic drawers don’t fit together underneath.

The new tensioners are working nicely. They are a little bit in the way if I don’t pay attention. But much better than a bar and keep the fans clear when added.

Family is back to work and we’re about 80% better. On/off headache and occasional coughing fits.

Lots of yellow leaves mixed in with green and purple. Probably locked something out as the lowers are greener.

Less than two weeks from an average harvest date. Start scoping the trichomes next weekend.

Finished cleaning up the grow room. Put in a night light so the family can navigate in the dark and buddy can crash in here again if need be. Just need to find a place for two paintings.



Saturday morning when the snow started.

Sunday afternoon.

This morning the snow is a third of the way up the basement windows. Two feet high in the flats and much higher in the drift areas.

Got bored the other day. Had AI tweak a crappy pic of the dog just for fun. Had it remove me and give her Disney face.

I can’t see how this tech can be abused by people.

Saturday we had to cut shopping short. It was so cold the tires felt flat until we drove a bit. This was before the snow got worse. After the second store the power steering red LED came on. Driving home was worse than rack in pinion. Now I have to wait before I can even look things over. Hoping it’s a fuse but IDK. First time I’ve ever had this issue. Research shows KIA uses electric motor which has a known failure point. It’s also a huge PITA to get too and it’s not an outside winter job.

Did I mention we are DONE with winter already?

Some new things are good and welcome. Forgive me if I can't name one now, but some of this stuff is not very useful to me.
What they are doing with vehicles hopefully can be undone one day or improved upon enough not to be a liability to me.

I had no idea when I bought the car. I e babied it since day one with the expectation it would last. A few recall issues and early part failures has me rethinking our next car purchase.

I’d still be buying manual windows if I could. Power windows always fail at some point and was it really so hard to roll one down by hand?

I understand they are slowly getting rid of dip sticks and other fluid level check/top off points. They want more service calls rather than home maintenance or repairs.

Now that used cars cost what new ones used too and new cars are what small homes used to cost I don’t think I’ll be buying new anytime soon if at all.
