OK we posted at the same time.

I'm good with that as a side thing, but would prefer not to eliminate folks because they don't want to ship product. I think for this to work the best the judging has to come down to pictures.

I've tried to do this locally where we would meet and even that fell apart

The scroll bar with randomized entries is up on the main page now under the Patreon link. Might move that to the top if we don't get bandwidth complaints.
The pics in the scroll bar will link to your grow if voters want to see more.
We vote as a forum on the best pic***
Winners are awarded once a month.
Winners get the selected pic at the top of the forum for the next month.
We will have a discussion thread, as well as a voting only thread. Entries and votes only.
Continue this until everyone has had a chance to grow and cure the same strain, however they like.

I say we leave that up to the voter. Could be a bud porn shot, a whole plant, focus on the scrog, whatever.

Maybe there is a way to do some cannabis cup like judging but I'm thinking that would limit participation, especially with international folks.

I think if there is anyway of judging quality of product it would be a better contest over plant appearance. Would be a difficult contest to pull off I’m sure given we are all scattered about.

Same here. Small 1/8 grove bags. Lots of ways but like you said not everyone is probably willing to.

Yeah I'm not to worked about shipping weed anymore. I ship 50 cartridges a month to NC for my sister in law and her husband cause they get charged 60 a pop down there and I can get them 10 for 200. I've been doing this for a while now.
I mark the box as essential oils 😆
 
We could have a sub-contest of folks willing to ship product to a central judge(s). But judges can't compete. I'm out. Maybe the breeder we select could be a good arbitrary judge? If we had enough people willing to do that and have the cure done at the same time, it could merit it's own contest. Lots of moving parts there tho.

So what seeds are we running, what fits the most people? I figure something short for those with height limitations, and a fem seed to make it easy. I lean hard towards photo myself.

I think we can ship seeds for $5 or so in the US. Whatever the shipping is would be the entry fee. Probably send 3 seeds and grow 1 plant from them?
 
Make a central meeting place to meet(legal state),who ever shows up to enter is also a judge. Blind testing. If you can't make it mail it .if you can't mail it or show up you don't enter.

It might work if the schedule is somewhat flexible. Make the deadline JAN 1 2025 maybe?
 
I'll just throw up maybe we grow from 2 strains from different breeders. 🤷‍♂️
Let participants have a choice of which one of the two?
 
What about veg time.4-5 weeks should b plenty and a quick flowering strain for a fast turnaround so you could get 4-5 contests done in a yr
 
If you really wanna make everyone cry send out autos...

Jokes aside, having the breeder judge would be pretty cool. They know what the plant should be doing, would be awesome to see who can coax the best parts of the cultivar.
 
OK I think I got the flexible contest framework figured out. I'm gonna work on the forum side a bit and see how best to do this.

I'd really like a slider gallery with current entrants at the top, only issue is the bandwidth goes up. Trying to figure out how to make that optional but it looks like it's going to take a customization. Time to smoke a bowl and go dig thru 14,000 buttons on this damn forum lol

But we have to choose specific seeds. I'm going to need to make a mass buy and dole these out. Can we all agree on 1 thing that we wouldn't mind taking up a grow slot in the next 3 or 4 months?

I will ask the breeder if they would be willing to do a blind judging for those that want a cannabis cup as well.

I've had the original Maine Mother Of Berries, but never MOAB so I gotta try it lol.
 
Irie has mostly tall plants and 6-7 of those feminized have been discontinued.probably a few guys would struggle with height issues..I like some of his gear but..

I have Lemon Jeffery and The Maze from Irie in flower now, stretch is over and they're about 3 foot tall.

Lemon Jeffery looks very similar just wider.

I honestly haven't kept track so I'm not sure how long lol. Plus was kept in a solo cups for a few extra weeks.
I've been team Red Beard since the beginning so I'm cool with that lol.

Moe has tried the FFP and loved it. Biscotti Blond is my all time RB fav!
