Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this sunny, but chilly morning, hope your all well. As some of you folk know, its now a struggle to have a toke for me these days, so if I'm going to remain a stoner, then I'll have to change my path. Edibles are the way forward, that way I can carry on growing and getting high, but I'll have to modify my intake methods to suit my no smoke stance. I've decided to take the Green Dragon route, as this is as easy as it gets, I already have a stack of cannabis to get going, and I can scam all the bits I need from Santa for Christmas, making it a cheap start up for a change. The Everclear is here, so I can start by drowning some weed in jam jars and experiment a little.
I like the Green Dragon approach, as I can use it on its own, or drop it into some thing else, the spice of life and all that. I had a good swallow of the Everclear, and I have to say, it is fiery stuff, just like the poitin made in Ireland that we consumed as kids, which is a potato whisky, very different taste to the corn moonshine that everclear is, I can see why they use everclear to sterilise things in laboratories, because if you were a bug, you wouldn't stand a chance. I've started out with 9 grams of weed to 200ml of everclear, but this seems a lot of alcohol for that amount of weed, so I can see that being reduced in the future. The weed and alcohol are placed into a pound honey jar, this seems a good amount of space to shake the weed around in. Been advised by my buddy and now mentor for this project, that the jars need a good shake twice a day for a week, no great hardship. So the weed was scaled up to the required amount.
Five jars were filled, four were marked up with week 1 to week 4, this is how long they will be left until they are tested. One jar, which is just a tester to see if there is any difference between them all, and whether a couple of days or weeks makes any difference at all, because everyone you speak to has a different idea, and the net is awash with info, some fairly conflicting. So we'll see what how it goes.
The weed that was used in this project was some good weed I grew a while ago called The Church. Nice weed, but made me cough, so it was kicked to the side for other strains that didn't.
I was going to skip the weed prep part, but maybe this topic might help anther member walking the same path, so here's what I did. First off you have to bake the weed in the oven, I'll skip the science as you can look it up if you feel the need. I have a gas oven, so I warmed it up to gas mark one and a half, this is 250f or 121c for other types of ovens. The baking times will vary depending on your weed, mine was good and dry already, so ten minutes sorted mine just fine.
Before baking, you can see its green.
After baking, you can see its golden.
Golden is the aim of the game, then I just jar it up, mark the lids with the date, and that's it, let it get on with it, giving the jars a shake a couple of times a day.
I've made up four jars, which I aim to test one a week, then see which I think is the best for the length of time its in the jar. And that is where I am at the minute, later on today I'll be sticking my finger in the tester jar, purely for scientific reasons. I'll update you as the other four jars mature, and hopefully I'll have a propper result. So there you are, now you know what I'm up to. There was some other boring stuff I could have added, like washing the jars, but I've spared you that. So all that's left is to wish you all well for the coming week, until the next update, just keep toking folks.
