I tend to only do mods that have some practical use and believe utility has an aesthetic quality of it's own. My next one is going to be a Diamondback aluminium bed cover with some Yakima racks for our skis on it like this:

After that, I can start working on cargo/storage for tools etc since the bed will be lockable and secure.

They sure love to accessorize their vehicles!!!
 
I booked a nice suite at the resort for us on Christmas Eve, skiing Christmas day. My wife and son are coming over Sunday so we can get him outfitted with new ski gear for his big Christmas gift. Everyone is super excited and it will be awesome. Annual review was fun- bigg compensation adjustment and they want me there until I decide to retire, so I got that going for me. Been a good year.
 
Finally out of the Christmas and New Years stretch, super busy and had our first big test of the water system with the new automation. Everything worked great and we sailed through without issues. Good to have a breather to catch up on maintenance plus I've got a pile of Jeep stuff sitting in my garage to install. Hope all is well with everyone, hope to start a grow sometime soon and get back in the mix. Cheers!
 
Had a black 1988 Jeep YJ. Loved it until the wiper arm punched through the window frame. Twice. They only covered it under warranty once.

It was off-roading as much as on roads. I was up north every weekend during summer. Finding hidden lakes and streams to fish. Good times. Then we had kids and I had to get a family car.
 
Took a me day off to give my Jeep some love. The Diamondback bed cover is awesome. I also installed a set of Builtright molle bed panels to mount stuff up off the floor of the bed. I'll load them up this weekend when my hands aren't frozen lol.

Just for off road to the right places using the roads to get there.

If you can't keep your tools and equipment dry the bed of a truck is a rough space.

Not sure if you're aware or not, but I recently found out that anything in a link after the question mark is just tracking you and where you share. Data mining. I'm gonna double check though and try it out with the link you shared...

I had the bikini top but no half doors. Blow back on rainy days or damp roads sucked. Lol

They make a black metal box for behind the back seat. Stupid price. So I made one out of one side good plywood that had been oiled and used for concrete forms. I got enough grey carpet that matched the interior to blend in. Used a keyed door latch to lock it. Couldn’t get to it with the back closed and locked. Guy who bought the Jeep loved it.

I loved the half doors for crawling it because they made it easy to lean out and see what your wheels were running over. That rig came with the original CJ sport style roll bars but I swapped for the YJ family style bars seen in the pic since they had rear seat belt mounts and I also liked safari tops.
I also put YJ leaf springs in the front which were wider and slightly longer than CJ7 springs. Handled much better. Bigger heater blower motor from a Chevy blazer so even with the top down you could blast the heat and stay warm. Electric cooling fan. Upgraded a lot of electrical with relays and circuit breakers for safety. It was an awesome rig and I loved working on it.

I just left the doors and hard top off May 24th to our Thanksgiving if I could.

Funny, I swapped out the inside windshield plates and replaced them with the CJ ones that had the hand twist off bolts so you could put the windshield down and strap it to the hood. You had to leave the front side roll bars off though.

I bought after market springs that raised it 4-6 inches and made thick SS rear shackles that raised it a few more inches.

Only down side was it made the rear driveshaft ujoint go on a sharp angle. So I had to lower the transmission skid plate so the back was lower than the front. I used big long nuts for threaded rod. This made the driveshaft angle much better. Still broke a ujoint here and there but not often.

I was warned that the Jeeps heaters sucked but mine wasn’t bad. But the radiator fan was kind of crappy. Had a clutch or something in the front in a cast housing. I found out that a buddy had drilled his and put in a bolt to make it a stiff/solid fan that made his heating and cooling better. After looking into it I tried it. The drill bit broke off in the housing. But was big enough it acted like a bolt. It never came out and I never had another problem with heating. I had the Jeep from 1988 until I gave it to my daughter on her 16th birthday. Around 2009.

I added a 102” SS whip antennae, CB and power boost. Made a lot of custom stuff like a tube steel bumper to replace the two silly bumperetts.

Good times.

Wife and kids have been over to the mountain to ski every weekend, having so much fun. My daughter wanted to tackle Shockwave so we took it on together. She made it but I think once was enough for her lol. It's a beast of a trail. Can't wait for it to warm up just a little. Will be into March before we know it. Been loving my new tractor as well, makes me feel like a little kid playing in a sandbox every time I go push snow. Great machine. Cheers everyone!
