We used to do that at the cottage or camping. Don’t remember doing it at home.many moons ago when i worked in a kitchen they baked bacon on a bed of sliced bread, helped absorb the grease and also never stuck to the baking sheet. i would always stash a couple slices of that old bread for a lunch sandwich!!!
the bacon there was always perfect!!
KFC used to be Scott’s Chicken Villa up here. The Colonel got pissed at US taxes so moved to Canada, just outside Toronto in Mississauga. Back then they used to serve Grecian bread. It was fresh bread sliced and had melted butter and chicken fat on it. It was crazy good. (If I had know what it was as a kid I probably wouldn’t have eaten it.
