i still didn't get a chance to try it, i've been swamped for a couple weeks i actually have off this weekend so i need to get caught up on all kinds of chores around the house.

I like that racing ends for the holidays but I've been indoctrinated into football being played on Thanskgiving and Xmas. Those hoilidays are really just another day for us.
It's something we sign up for and for the most part, enjoy it.
Young people squirm and tend to not handle working a major holiday very well though.

i get what you're saying man, football families feed off of it i get that.. i also get the part about working holidays, clean rooms normally only shut down one day a year.. xmas. i've spent more than one xmas eve and xmas morning alone in a dallas hotel. it's what i signed up for and i accepted it. only cleanrooms aren't like football and my family hated it. it caused stress between us often.

so i get the football families and signing up for it, i worded it wrong in what i meant, my point was more aimed at the all the support jobs that go along with NFL that maybe their kids and wives never signed up for when they work security, or parking, or selling hotdogs but are kinda forced to miss out on xmas morning with their children over hotdog sales... just an example but there are all kinds of jobs that are not even related to sports the require hard working folks during games and i would think not all of them enjoy it on xmas morning.

i get both sides of it but honestly i makes no difference in what my opinion is, i have no skin in the game.

Depends on the controller but you have two sensors....the probe on the wire and one built in. So I think you can run that wire probe to a location but use it's trigger to turn on a device in a different location. That's how I plan to use mine. I think it's the 69Pro or something like that.
The AI controller has two wire probes plus the internal.

yeah i don't have that fancy ai model, mine have one remote sensor... it would be nice to be able to have 3 or 4 of them and let it take an average of the room. enough airflow and i guess i'm close enough, but you know us growers.. we're never satisfied with tech!!! hahaha

Mine have been working really well for me especially after the last firmware update. I've had zero issues, knock on wood.
I don't have the power outages you have though so I'm sure that's hell on these types of devices.

but that other controller i have in the hydro area has two outlets built in and i've never had a single issue with that thing ever. and i've even unplugged it a few times to move cords around and stuff and never once had a connection issue. i think i just have gremlins..

I'm having more fun this season with racing than any other man. I think next year could be better but yeah so much good happening every weekend it's gonna suck when it's over in a few weeks.
I'm well up over 11K point and calculated 14K if I hit everything. That missing 1K is gonna hurt if the garage experience is 15K but I'll still be able to get tix to both COTA and Texas if it falls thru.

One cool thing about working holidays for us is all the extra stuff that comes in. That's one thing clean rooms probably never have are fans bringing Y'all stuff like food and booze. I wont partake in the booze this year but it's pretty fun. The Thanksgiving game is an honor to play and we're trying to get it back on Turkey day. The Cowboys and Longhorns on Thanksgiving is insanely huge in Texas.
The Texas OU game is split 50/50 in the stadium so inside is equal and who knows outside. Roughly 200,000 people show up but only 80K or so actually go inside. It's the most insane gameday atmosphere probably in the country. It gets as loud as a jet taking off at full throttle.
We stopped going just because it's gotten nuts and mostly everybody is there for the first time so it's even more of a clusterfuck. Plus that 49-0 win a few years ago was a great mic drop game for us to say enough and give up our seats. Good 20+ year run but we're good now lol.

That coco mat is fairly thin..maybe 1/4" thick but I have it layered to be thicker.
It's also an option for airpots where you used those earplugs...I used it for that and also to close up the old style screens. Also as a mulch cover for earthboxes. It did great in pretty much every test idea I had for it.
It's low salt too so it's quick to rinse and load with a calmag soak.

I'll get into the ACI controller thing tomorrow and see what I got...I'm using two controllers but only one is the AI

i'm just gald i don't even need to use that plug anymore. it was being used as an intake fan but there was still a passive vent next to it going to the same area, the fan was to just "boost" the passive part. the mest up part man is since we've been talking about it, last night i looked up at it and it was connected and not failing!!! hahaha i'm like wtf i've ignored it for sooo long at here it's working!! hahaha

but now that i changed my venting setup i don't even use that fan anymore. in fact i'm s glad i did change it things have been so much more steady in both cabinets. so now what was my exhaust is now my intake from outside.

i hope i can continue this way through the winter. i didn't unhook or disconnect anything so if it doesn't work for me i just need to click a few buttons.

I forgot the Sunday update and how many days this grow has been active!
Just been busy and the world keeps spinning so anyways....
Full bloom is underway and I've got some monster fish on the line I'm trying to make sure I don't fuck up and land them in the boat.
Finished up the trellis and it did not go smooth at all. Broke some leaves of, bent some branches, knocked over a plant...it got bad but it's good to go now.

Running week 8 feed schedule which is pretty much just bloom and micro, finally cutting grow and calmag, and top offs are being mixed with Bembe.
Floods are difficult to do since the table needs to rise up and that sends colas into the lights so lights need to be shut off, tables raised, then the flood cycle can go.
Will try to align my schedule so I flood them during lights out from now.
When the table is lower than the surface of the water it siphons water back into the bed so that was something I wasn't expecting.
Plants are tall AF. Back rows are 6 and 7' tall and the runts up in front are 4-5 footers.



I don't think pics really convey what's happening here too well but here's one specimen that seems to wanna be the size of a small child.

yeah in couple weeks looking at the records nobody ever remembers how ugly or not!!! here's an ugly one for ya... so youtube tv has a feature with games when you first ckick on them you can join live, start from the beginning, or catch up with key plays.. so the other week the raiders actually won, i like wow let me check out the highlights... bro the ugly part.. the highlights for the entire game were one minute thirty one seconds long... and that was highlights for both teams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

is this the first grow you used the Bembe?

The Bembe was super impressive in trial use on outdoor plants. Had a freak that was lite and another haze on the lite side. A week after a Bembe soak they swole up nice and fat and everything got super stinky. In all sense of the phrase it was a true bloom booster.
It's use in hydro is in the top off between rez changes so it pretty much fit my routine like a glove....Set my rez then after every flood I need to replenish about 6 gallons...Those 6 gallons are what gets the Bembe then prolly towards the very end the last two rez loads will be Bembe and nothing else but maybe, possibly, another sweetener with sulfur.
I'm pretty sure Bembe is just Fox Farm Big Bloom with additives like molasses but BB is a Bat Guano tea. One of if not the best guano teas out there and we all know the awesome relationship guano has with cannabis so this is a really great fit.
It's outside the bounds of organics but I'm at the point where we can grow clean AF even if it's not 100% organic so I've let go of being 100% there.

Saw PSU fired their coach man. So did Florida and I think another 1 or 2. That time of year I suppose but I was shocked at the Franklin firing.
I'm not even sure coaches matter as much as they did in the past at the level of PSU and Florida.
Flagship schools like that at Texas, USC, OU, Michigan etc...we all have the same things and do the same thing.
The only difference really are the colors, mascots, and bands play different songs but we're all doing the exact same thing.
It's really more about roster building and how you spend on that roster more today than it was just 3 years ago.
So IDK if much of this is really about coaching more than it's on general managers not doing a good job building the rosters up. I know that's our issue right now. We have a few duds that came for the money and are not producing. Combined with recruits not meeting expectations, it's leaves a hole on the field. You can't coach that hole out of existense. You just need a good player to fill it up.

The vertical color change is the most wasteful and challenging but also most rewarding. Over 4000 filament changes and that's only 115mm tall!

If by a bit you mean around this time next month, I agree. I'm betting by Thanksgiving on this side of the border the next grow is started if not sooner.
Things don't grow slow 'round here + the weather has broke and my carport grow tent is back in play

I just flooded on my 3rd feed with this batch and plan on res change tomorrow. I'm not sure how many feeds I can get before it goes bad. Probably a learn as I go deal I'm sure...
It has been stable % numbers, am I to believe that as long as the res stays on its marks, it's business as usual?...

HHS says add base and pH and go, but does not decipher between switching out old and add new I'm assuming it's the beginning of a new res that they're talking about. I don't want to waste anymore that I have to....

If I could get in the ballpark on that that would be neat!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah so how often you flood will determine how often you change the rez.
I change mine every 7-8 days and I'm flooding once per day. If you're flooding only once every several days then you can stretch it further but personally I'd change every two weeks. Main things you dont wanna see is any foam or smell any foul odor. If you smell rot or sewer get rid of it and clean your barrel out.

Basically every time I flood my bed it keeps some of the water. Anywhere from 4-6 gallons every day is lost to the plants.
So before I can flood it again, those 4-6 gallons need to be replaced.
It's in that 4-6 gallons I add the supplements. I set their strength at 4-6 gallons too even though that 4-6 gallons will be dumped into and added to the other 24 gallons left in the rez. So don't set it for the whole 30 gallon rez and just set it for the 4-6 gallon top off amount.

Going from the top.....I've just emptied my rez and dumped the old nute solution on the landscape outside.
I've left 1-2 gallons of old rez water to carry over microbial life from one rez to the next.
I fill the rez with fresh water and set the nutes according to the feed chart, -5 gallons.
So if max strength calls for 700ppm for 30 gallons, I set 700ppm at 25 gallons then finish up with 5 gallons pure water.
This prevents any chance of over feeding burn and gives me room to play to bump one of the three parts or cal mag or a supplement.

Next, I flood the system.
After the flood I'm short on water because the plants kept that 4-6 gallons.
The supplement I add here depends on the stage of growth and if any supplement is needed.
Usually early on, the supplement is the micro part of 3 part nute or cal mag. You could also add in a supplement for roots at this stage. That's very popular too.
Later, the supplement can be one of any bloom boosters and finally a sweetener or flushing agent.
When everything is working a treat then maybe no supplement is needed and just plain water to top off will be fine.

Mine being a daily flood, I may supplement today but go pure water tomorrow. That's all decided by reading the plants and diagnosing anything extra they may need or anything they need to be cut off from.
But that's always been one of my tricks to managing hydro is not pile the nutes on top of each other by mixing your base then dropping supplements on top of that for it to all be consumed at once. That's how many growers burn up the garden with nutes. Nah...give them their food then supplement with the top offs

i do the exact same thing when mixing my batches of nutes. for kinda the same reason. i dont have the experience or notes to know exactly how much nutes to water mixture i need to get to my desired ppm. so i mix it hot in a smaller amount of water and then top off with water right at the end to bring it down to the ppm i want. i then ph and let it rip!! i don't always know what exact volume i'll get when i'm done but i always aim for a little extra volume overall and save it in another drum until needed.

Here's my add-on... question..

HSS has their recipe adding "golden tree" supposed to be at all in one additive... Got molasses in it. But it smells like rotten high hell.... Their recipe has me adding that first and then the base so apparently they want you to add that with their recipe.

So no foaming... I don't believe that's possible with this product.......I could take out a ait stone I suppose. I haven't really dialed in the aeration aspect of this little res yet. All I have is air bubbles I don't have any real circular swirly swirl swirl...

But yeah it pretty much foams immediately? And does have an aroma of strong aroma.....

After reading what you wrote the other day and what I read before everything kind of clicks as far as adding and and retopping and whatnot.
I am wondering about this golden tree additive

it has organics in it so smell and foam might happen with it.. my flurlicious is similar and that das a strong odor and foam... the smell Bandit is referring to is a sour smell. not an organic smell but a rotten wants to turn your nose away kind of rancid.

airstone is fine, no swirly swrl needed. it does help when mixing but nothing else.

and i honesty think you cod top off a little water on top just like we do. we're not going 50/50 or anything.. we're topping off like five gallon or so just to dial it in perfect. with you using new nutes and not knowing exactly what ppms' of that ration mix your plants like then you're playing a close enough game anyway.. start low like everybody says and climb from there if needed.

but the nutes are just lookig for enough water to fully blend in and you can add more later to get it closer if ya want. just dont dump all the nutes made for 30 gallons in a one gallon jug and top off 29 gallons of water is all.. within reason kinda thing...

I don't have any experience with those nutes or Golden Tree product. When I used soil in the system like yours I went with pure water in the barrel and never added nutes to it. The gola was to keep the water as clean as possible since it was pretty much recycled irrigation water.

The feeding happened at the plant sites one of two ways.
My fave was to load the soil up with dry nutes. Stuff like Fox farm Happy Frog all purpose or Roots Uprising Bloom. The soil loaded hot like that was pretty much a gas tank set for 10 weeks of food and the flood and drain kept it irrigated.
This was really a method of growing as old as Earth. Think of rich fertile valleys being flooded by clean mountain rains. Same exact thing happens there.

The second way is pretty much the same but instead of a hot soil with dry nutes, liquid nutes in mild soil are used and applied to not run off but mildly soak the soil every week or two weeks with food and then gets water all other times.

Adding in nutes and especially a microbial and a molasses (the microbial could also be extracted from the soil) you're pretty much on the path to making a compost tea more than a hydroponic nute solution.
I'd be concerned about any slime or snots, stuff on the surface, and it's not full on suds but it does look like a foam is starting to build but hard to tell in a still shot.
I'd change the water and clean the barrel then use an enzyme additive.
Later if you want, a UV filter or simple carbon aquarium filter will help keep the water clean between floods.

We're on a slightly different course here in how we're using the flood and drain but here's a video of the action in my rez.
It's not a perfect rez but it's alive and thriving.
There's a few things I wanna see...The bubbles burst almost as fast as they get to the surface. Don't wanna see any kind of film that binds them and keeps them on the surface in a precursor to foam which is microbial digestion.
Don't wanna see any slime on anything and while salt is my pet peeve, accumulation is really not all that bad where water has receded so there's lite white grime on stuff like the rim and pump power cord.
I like to see clear water and part of that comes with my choice in nutes using super concentrated and refined salt base with no humic or molasses. Staining and grime will happen, it's agriculture after all, but I don't wanna see it swampy or murky

Here's a couple two flavor bottle jobs I make often. When I use a sideline cup, I dust the top with tajin as if it's salt on a margarita.
When I'm at the nutrition station, I become a fucking bartender making concoctions for players so now I have to teach some interns how to make these for the players lol

Yeah we're a gatorade program but dude I don't like any of them for the most part. At least not the stuff in bottles.
The best gatorade is the powder version and you mix yourself. Like the stuff they dump on coaches after a big win.
Then put that stuff in a slushee machine.
I almost bought one this Summer for the home but it's pretty big and would take up a ton of counter space.
You could put powerade in these things too. Beware though because once you have it in slushee mode then the bottled drink will always disappoint

Stumbled into a cool little display of physics that's allowed me to stop needing to raise the table as long as I run the rez a mere two inches below the rim.
So instead of needing to come up to around 12", the tables can flood & drain at only 8" off the floor

Flood tables at 8" feels like it needs a song to celebrate....
