Clip Fan Recommendations

I used to get these 6ā€ for $25 out the door. The oscillating gear is a softer plastic so it is forgiving but can wear easy if it gets trapped. Luckily they are easy to open up and fix, until too stripped. Mine have lasted 3 years with one to two repairs a year. Printing corner protectors has stopped the trapping issue but I find them a little strong for the 3x3 but highly recommend for a cheaper option.

As the fancy AC Infinity fans are twice as much up here than in the US I picked up a couple of Costco Woohoo 180* fans. So far, so good, but it’s still first grow testing. šŸ¤ž

I’ve heard nothing but disappointment from most that have the fancy ones from ACI or Vivosun. But no personal experience. At least ACI has good warranty service.

Wow I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger on that fan, thanks for the input!

I have a small 9" high output fan for the floor but it's too powerful even on low pointed almost straight down; I might be able to use it when they get tied up

The clip fan I have is very old and weak, I need something new

Maybe I'll just buy a classic clip fan & forget about the oscillation 🫤

I’d still go with oscillating, it just seems to do a better job.

I’ve had leaf burn on lowers when the oscillating fails and I try to point it in a direction that defuses it. Not a big deal but annoying.

Hey, Black Friday is coming up and they usually have some discount. I bought 3 on a deal last year buy 2 get 1 free. I though that meant buy 1 get 1 but oh no I had to go through Mars when only 2 showed up and I was charged for 2. They had some convoluted explanation but after some back and forth they shipped me another fan. I'd kinda expected 4 when I bought 2.

I remember that…

I thought about buying a pair and having a pair as backup. But then you posted how it was NOT buy one get one free like the ad said.

I never understood why you had to fight to get even one free when you bought two. Whole thing stunk so I didn’t bother.

They work well when working, good speed control and good osculation. One may have jammed against my intake air duct and burned out or stripped the gear. The other had a funky noise from the start when it when back and forth but the other 3 work fine. I put one of the broken in my 3x3 veg tent and the other in my flower tent down low over the pots

Looking for a new clip fan, has to move a lot of air and clip vertically like the one in the picture, any recommendations?

Anyone familiar with this one?

I have that one..was 100 bucks..working well so far but like all of them ,this one mentions in the instructions that the oscillating will wear out the fan quicker…just make sure whatever you buy has a warrantee so you can get another if it stops working.I’ll b giving the oscilating a break soon..they have like 5 fan speeds or so and same with the oscillation.

I’ve had about 20 of those ones Zen in your picture .2 have burnt through the cord and nearly caught my room on fire..

I’ve had these at least three years now. Oscillating has stopped once or twice each year until I 3D printed the corner protector. Stops the tend from closing around the fan. Since then I haven’t had any more issues. Just wish I’d had the protectors sooner so the gears were in better shape.

Cords look fine still. IMG_7784.jpeg

They are exactly the same ones too.use to get 3 for under 50 bucks.the cords broke right where it goes into the fan where that black grommet is..

You will probably b right seem you fixed it.mine were buggering from the big wheel that turn the shaft.if they weren’t oscilating they wouldn’t of broke..

I try to leave slack so it doesn’t keep bending the cord. I tried an elastic early on but the lights rot them too fast. I suppose a twist tie would work next time I hook them up.

Really hoping the Woohoo fans last. They are great for circulation with the way the head goes in all directions. Just wish I had a better way of placing them. I’m planning on moving them before flip to the front left side for easier access and more floor space.

That’s what I started doing and taping the cord to the pole.when they were high up I had to use an extension cord and I’d tape the plug to the pole with some slack..if I didn’t the weight of the plug would put a strain on it when oscilating..the damn thing still broke anyway.the wires are pretty thin to them under the plastic coating on them..

Does your Woohoo stay on 24/7?
Mine doesn't so I have to turn it on each day if needed but I'm not sure if I can press a button to make it go 24/7 yet.
All I've done is plug it in and placed then started hitting buttons on the remote until it turned on then started the 360 swivel.. I also have it set to variable speed so it speeds up and slows down thru it's motions.
Pretty sure I did not activate the timer on it so I'm thinking it's a safety feature and turns off on it's own after 8-12 hours or so

Yes, it’s on 24/7 since I put it in the tent. About 6 weeks so far. Testing showed it came back on when loss of power but now we have had two or three outages where they stayed off. Before the idiot lights just came back on for a while before going off again so I put on a tape flap that hides the lights but let’s me access the buttons if needed.

So far it’s been fine and I can use the remote if I need to change things.

Testing allowed the setting to be remembered at on/off but I’m thinking loss of power means I have to reset my settings. Lights off, lowest power for now, and full 180* or 360* motion reset. (These smaller ones don’t have the same motion as the big free standing one.) These table fans only do 90* left/right and 90* up/down so I call them 180*. Still good for the tent.

Is yours from Costco? All mine are and they are the only ones I’ve seen. But I can 100% say they do NOT turn off on their own. (Maybe once when I forgot and did a foliar and it got wet… The remote was in my pocket of crap so it could have been that too. It’s never happened again and I’ve not gotten water on it since using the watering wand.)

I don’t mind test/trying things for you if you want.

My only real issue so far is space. I’ll be moving them to the front left of the tent as I get more space for the plants this way. Originally I didn’t have a long enough cord to go any further. Attached an extension cord a while ago so I can move it around now.

Hope that helps answer a few things bud.

Just realized the one in the grow room is from Target and my wife has the one from Costco. I had to look up the order history to remember which I had returned...I took the second one back to Costco and got the one from Target. Target was the one with 360 so I kept it.
The Target version is as big as the pedestal version from costco but on a base and the timer seems to be an energy saver feature, only letting it run for 7 hours max time before it needs to be turned on again or the timer can be set to run it for either 1 or 4 hours. I think it's more for an office like space and use time and not a grow space šŸ™ƒ
