Why is my Bunn doing this? It's not every time and it's not every bag, but it drives me NUTS when it happens. I get so tired of rinsing that tray out every time I want a pot.

Do I need taller filters?
I grind it as fine as I can and have gradually reduced the amount of beans. Any less and I might as well brew some tea...

wtf?!!?.. man i don't know.. is it maybe your water spitting out violently or something to throw it up like that?

i've been grinding mine on the finest setting and never get it like that.. just use standard filters.. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MQ23HDX

Any chance it's a quality control issue with the filters? Like, are you catching an extra thick one, occasionally?

I don't know if it would address your issue, but I've switched to a reusable filter that I just wash out after each pot. Before I went to this, I thought I might not like having to wash it out, but it hasn't been an issue and i like not having to buy and filters. I haven't thought about it much, but I also haven't considered returning to filters. So, I must like it, lol.
I've seen those but never wanted to rinse them... now I rinse this anyway.

Might try one out.

Yeah i don't know. It'd be different if it was every pot but it's just random as hell... been driving me nuts.

One of the main reasons a coffee filter might overflow is due to the coffee grind size and the amount of ground coffee used. If the grind size is too fine, it can make it harder for water to pass through the grounds, leading to overflow. On the other hand, if too much ground coffee is used, it can block the filter and cause a similar result. To prevent this issue, it's essential to use the correct amount of coffee and grind size suitable for automatic drip coffee makers.

They have solutions/explanations here. https://majestycoffee.com/blogs/posts/why-does-my-coffee-filter-overflow

if it's only random then it's not grounds too fine or the filter or any of that part. gotta be in that water line. i'd try to blow it out or something see if maybe somethings getting clogged in there causing it to shoot out at a higher pressure.

it reminds me of when i forget to turn off my power switch and then the next day i plug it in empty not realizing the switch is on, fill it with grounds and then when i dump the water in it's already hot temp and spits out that tube like crazy causing it to shoot the grounds all up the sides like that.

just makes me thing your water is coming from the tube faster than a drip to cause that.

If not already I'd also check that little rubber part to see if it's getting stuck and not letting water pass or sometimes the pot below doesn't push the nipple up high enough to let it the coffee drip.

Haven't had any brewing issues with my latest score.;melt

Noah Gragson would love my drink fridge though. They call it coffee but I'm pretty sure it's ice cold, liquid cocaine

So it's not the grind size. Made three pots today. More coarse of a grind, same amount of beans, overflowed. Same grind again with 2/3 the beans, overflowed. Even more coarse of a grind, halfway on my grinder, same 2/3 amount of beans, overflowed.... coffee maker almost got hucked off the front porch!

I did just start a new stack of filters and I use the unbleached Great Value brand. I bought a box of Bunn branded filters and also one of those wire reusable filters @BlueCollarBob mentioned.

I'm hoping for a quality control issue and figured I better start with the cheapest solution.

This could be.. I did pull off the spray head and it's clean as hell so if it's a cloggin' somewhere, it'd be in the machine.

My Bunn always stores hot water. Pour the cold in top, shut the lid and it sprays your coffee with yesterdays water. Only issue is there is a small window you have to wait if you want consecutive pots.

If not already I'd also check that little rubber part to see if it's getting stuck and not letting water pass or sometimes the pot below doesn't push the nipple up high enough to let it the coffee drip.
No little spring-loaded dilly.. it's just the cup that slides in and out and is held above the pot. Free flowing. That and... if you pull the cup out, mid pot, it just sprays all over. No safety and that shit is HOT lmao.

Mesh filter boiled over but these Bunn branded filters kept the grounds out of the pot. They're a little taller, though. Almost boiled over also.

I liked BRC before I started grinding beans. Not that I don't like it now, I just looked around and now I'm currently treading water in the sea of choices.

Don’t the filters usually fill the container? Can you get larger/taller ones? When the family all switched to pods I kept my French press. Really enjoy it with fresh beans.

Nope I refus

I've been using these cheapo filters for years. The new ones I bought are a  little bit taller. Seems to be working for now.

it's gotta be something broken or clogged if it didn't do it before and you didn't change anything... maybe run some descale solution or vinegar through a few times..

just curious if you tamp your grounds down before you brew? i started doing this a couple weeks ago and i swear it makes it taste better. i know the gurus say never do that but what do they know!

nothing picky or anything i just use the bottom of my cup and pack it tight...

Clogging would mean slower flow, right? Slower flow is what I need, or fast flow through the filter.

I have tamped when I was first going through this again but it boiled over just the same.

It would make sense though, tasting better. Seems like the water and coffee would mix for longer, giving you more coffee flavor, right?

I'll tamp tomorrow morning's pot.

This one here has a great flavor to it if you're not a dark roast kind of coffee drinker. Subtle sweetness, somewhat on the cocoa side. Not much on the fruitiness. It seems closer to a black tea than a coffee, though. I'm normally a "dark roast or die" kind of guy but I enjoyed the fruitiness of the last bag (Simba's Sumatra, dark roast) so I thought I'd give another fruity bag a try. I wouldn't say disappointed, but it's not at the top of my list.

I'm baaaack, Did you miss me?✌🏻🤣

Sometimes I need to get away from the internet for a while, or at least aspects of it

Thought I'd drop in and say hello to the Coffee Club ☕🐸 Hope all is well !View attachment 116924
Just a little, 🤣.

I even had to buy coffee to bump the thread. 😝

I’ve bought this a few times. It’s bold and dark. IMG_7197.jpeg

awe shoot ain't they cute, no I mean, Awe SHOOT, they ain't cute, Get em before they multiply, fenerbendingtickpackingbrownbasatrds.
I can't swing a cat by the tail without hitting a deer! Hunting season starts soon so there'll be a lot less of them and everybody's freezers will be full for the winter!

As close as they come I can never get good pictures, they're either moving so fast that it's blurry or their heads are down eating

Gmorning, I have kind of a allergy to coffee, if I drink it too early I get clammy, heart races a bit, sweaty pits and I'm jittery but if I have a breakfast and a smoke coffee is coffee and I can drink it all day up to 9pm at night with no issues. We drink basic cheap stuff Costco Dark roast in pods. about .40 cents a pod I'll drink 6-7 a day my wife 3-4 call it 6 & 3 = 9 x .40 =$3.60/daily = $108/month that's enough for bitter flavored hot water......lol

Holy wow. Here i was thinking the $40 a month I spend was worth questioning. Sounds like I'm getting an absolute steal, considering it's a lot better than some bitter flavored water 🤣

You could get a nice grinder and a bag of beans for a lot less than $108. You could surely cut your monthly costs in half or more by grinding your own beans. Worth a try. It does wonders on the flavor, too.

The single cup in 2 min is nice that's what sold me on the pods. We used to perk and I got tiered of that taste. We've tried more expensive brands but after a bit it all taste the same. Don't get me wrong I love a good cup of coffee but its too expensive for every day drinking. I like the French press way of making coffee and it maybe our next go to when this Kureg machine packs it in.

I have a French press I save for when we don't have power because I've noticed in all the power outages the one thing I missed the most was coffee 😵‍💫 I damn near lit the bbq grill just to perk up a pot during the last blackout! I can pop the French Press right in the wood stove for a few minutes and heat it right up (takes forever on top)

I looked that company up and I like what they do, they even had a link to recommend a rescue and I recommended Black Cat Rescue in Boston, a no-kill shelter that's been doing good things for decades. Even though my freezer's packed with coffee now I'm going to make a purchase Before Christmas! Thanks for posting that

Yeah they're my new subscription service and I look forward to trying a bunch of their roasts.

I buy the 2lb bags and that feed a kitty for 2 weeks.
