This is a question type thread and every reader has a vote, up or down. Lets group source the best way to build an online contest.

We have all seen the Picture Of The Month type contests. POTM has it's ups and downs.

The biggest issue is that the people competing cheat. It has spoiled what should have been a cool thing many times that I am aware of.
Maybe its worth it. Take the bad with the good?

Please post your best idea on how this 2nd contest should be run. The one with the good prizes @TSD mentioned.

As for the first one - who has the best idea here? Highest voted idea gets something good, just not sure what yet ;)

This is off topic but what if we had a section called BETA? This could be where gear vendors can offer their products for "BETA testing" and a real world review could be offered in return. A header of sorts stating the mission so that vendors know that those viewing that section realize there is no marketing BS involved so 100% honesty.

Not sure how it would go over with vendors but I thought it might be a good way for vendors to market their product without marketing it and we could offer up great raffle and POTM prizes increasing site traffic increasing brand exposure for those "honest" vendors willing to put their balls on the chopping block.
I think we're talking about two different scenarios. Yours is a buy in type of raffle as mine is a free to join type. Yours involves member financing and mine moves that responsibility to the vendor. Both are completely doable in my eyes. Maybe the higher ticket items that vendors aren't so willing to give up could be done buy in style and the lower end items could be done on a free to join basis? Maybe a part of the raffle proceeds on the higher end prizes could be used to support site operations if the contestant inputs go beyond the purchase price? Not sure but lots of options........
Agreed and I see the misunderstanding. We're on the same page.

I like this idea a lot. I know id be down to get in on a raffle as long as it wasnt over like 30-40 bucks an entry. I have an issue with gambling so i never go to casinos or anything but ill gamble on a good raffle lol.

Man don't even mention casinos to me. The moment I hear people yelling at a craps table I'll neck snap like smelling weed out in the open.

The last time I played I was in Laughlin. Rolled for around 90 minutes and hit the multiplier twice. I was smart enough that time to not give it back to the casino!! :ROFLMAO:

I've set up a system where when I feel like I can't lose? STOP. Take your money and go have a drink(or smoke). It ain't fool proof because when you're hot you're fucking Superman and after a few boilermakers you throw caution to the wind!! 😄

Sometimes other players get mad at me because I'll be rocking the table and when that feeling comes I'll tell the dealer all my bets are off and seven out on the next roll. They get mad and say I jinxed the run. I tell them I ain't there to make them rich besides my prediction saved all the profit I had on the table so, honestly, ain't my problem you didn't follow the shooters intuition.

I've had sessions where after a good run all the players will toss me quarter chips. I was getting pretty good at setting dice due to my having made a quarter table practice rig. I even replicated the bounce the real tables have with the correct felt and underfelt padding along with a rubber diamond backwall to simulate playing conditions as closely as possible.

I got good at putting together hard way groups and set pairs like sixes and eights, fives and nines, fours and tens.

I got banned from the Bellagio for setting dice.

reminds me of some of the blackjack hustlers i've watched on youtube. a few have been banned from the casinos in WA state (be cautious if you're about it -- casinos share a database of "hustlers") due to dialing in their game so well they could take the house anywhere here. still doesn't stop me from wanting to go in with a roll and see if i can perform better in a night than my stock holding have done in the past two years.

Have you tried playing options....

my employer is so generous to give me the opportunity to buy options as part of my compensation package. i don't have the bankroll to cover options, and i'm not down with playing with other people's money.

Edit: i'm not good with fucking around with margin. shit scares tf outta me.

I played for a while on a cash account. Hit it pretty big a couple times with 200% wins. Had one run up over a grand positive in a couple minutes, sold it, then watched it run up over 120k. That was a kick in the nuts but it was wild to watch and I at least made a cool G. Overall I'm net negative and quit playing. I was making payscale wages at the time so I had some money to burn.

That's sweet that they let you buy options with your comp package. I'd probably get myself in trouble with that.

Selling them.
I was just gambling on the premiums. Buying and hoping to sell quickly for a nice gain. Lots of smaller wins and a couple larger losses. It was fun and if I had disposable income, I'd keep doing it. Plus I've had a baby since then. She gets all my extra bread now.

If I had the shares, covered calls can make some pretty easy money, til it doesn't 🤣

you speak like i've been for the past year lol i'm getting deeper into the market. having kids too, though, so i'm very cautious. been long on a few blue chips for a while because my first dive into scalping went terribly bad on a micro account, so doing the crypto hodl move on some bluechips that pay out dividends. figure if imma lose money, they can pay me for losing that money lol

jeff was rocking the wheel method on options for a minute, think he pulled out though.

as for my employer giving me the opportunity to buy options in a private company, i'm rubbed kind of sideways about that. i get taxed at the time of purchase, and i get taxed when something good or bad happens with the company. it's not like working for a FAANG where they give you equity. nope, i gotta drop five figures to get these options and they're not even prime options. and i pay tax on the purchase. fuck, i'll just save my money and put it into the market with companies that are trading well and make chips, especially when the company i'm with is on hella unsteady ground now.

Edit: my 401(k) is fairly aggressive though and i've made a solid low end five figures post covid, so not grumpy. SPX, QQQ, VTX ftw

Playing it smart, for sure. I was strictly gambling on Apple and Spy back in 2021-22.

It'd be really difficult to scalp premiums on a private stock though.

yeah, my broker account doesn't even have access to private equity, so i can only do whatever's IPOed. but, i've been long on DIS, GOOG, and OXY for a year now. 1k spread across the three, lost ~$80 in terms of holdings but dividends have paid out $150, so while the charts dived I still made something. I mean, 15% return for holding ain't bad. Not the boilers the youtube personalities hype up but it's steady. Headlines should boost GOOG in the next couple days and I'm coming up on my year holding it. Plan is to dump it to avoid short term gains tax since I held for a year and move those funds into SPY. Lesson learned -- ETFs are where real money is made.

Man, you guys have a lot of patience. I trade options but in currency pairs. Stocks are too slow and returns are too volatile vs risk for me. Stocks are good for retirement but I already have a portfolio set up for that with REIT's, ETF's and other instruments along with a few BC stocks. I do 5 second sniper trades. Just logged onto my broker and increased my account by $175 while I wrote up this post. Doesn't mean I don't have bad days but so far I've been able to keep it in the black.

Easiest way to make a dollar is to take the dime 10 times

I stopped "training" to set dice as it was really mostly for fun but I know what you're talking about. I was on a tear at the Wynn and had a couple pit bosses take me aside afterword and tell me they know who I am. Not threatening or anything but I knew what they meant.

From what I saw I don't think they care as long as you're not taking them for tens of thousands. If I dropped 10 racks on the table to color up they would probably ban me but if I'm racking a couple hundred for my bankroll they don't really care.
