I find no mention of of purple “green crack” and really have no experience or documentation about Apple Gelato”, but both are showing signs of good color.

Is that just genetic chance? Anyone have experience with either of these two strains turning purple?IMG_3689.jpegIMG_3688.jpegIMG_3682.jpegIMG_3683.jpegIMG_3690.jpegIMG_3681.jpegIMG_3679.jpegIMG_3677.jpegIMG_3678.jpegIMG_3676.jpegIMG_3684.jpeg

Are you having cold nights? I've had my best color through winter grows when nights get down to mid 60's

The area has been having cold nights, I have my shed/lung room set with a heater to turn on in the mid 60s.

Daytime temps have been mid 70s with only 2 hours popping up into the 80s (solar heating without AC).
humidity has been hanging in around 40% - 45% day and night. There is a short period of time when it hits about 50% about 30 min after lights out. That only lasts a short time, then back down to low 40s RH.

My curiosity is that cool temps will only encourage purple if the plant is genetically predisposed to such color.
I can’t find any indication that either of these has any purple tendencies.

Just curious! Looking forward to some colorful buds, they seem to be changing, deeper colors by the day at this point. Still a few weeks to go!

RO & or Distilled water will fade and color my leaves pretty fast. It seems to deplete any remaining nutrients from the leaves and yellow/red them up like a fall drop off. I did that a few times while running hps for kicks, not something I do on purpose now.

There used to be a saying its hard to weed the red head out of a family, They just keep popping up every now and then. This could be the case with your stuff, just a link in a long train......???

Interesting, I’ve been watering with rain water for the past four weeks.
I have been adding either ca-mag/iron (earlier flowering period) or epsom salt (late flowering period). But the water begins with about 7 to 9 ppm. PH of 7 even!

It’s amazing how fast the green is fading away.
By harvest time I expect they will have some awesome fall colors.
Time will tell!

I use this graph for my feed guide in flower ( I've probably shown you this before but grey matter and all) , I don't start Cal/mag until week 3 and carry it all the way through tapering off at the end. I add the Epsom salts through veg while under led lights. I didn't need that under hps but without it I got leaf fade bad early and real ugly leaves at the end. My leaves are healthy now until I drop off all nutes

edit I stretch to 10 weeks for my purposes

I guess I need to add the ca-mag/iron back, at least once more.
I was hoping the extra sulfur from the Epsom would assist with trichomes, taste and aroma.

I wonder if that “redhead gene” might produce some other good things like a monster buzz, amazing taste and aroma to die for!

One can always hope!

its just a graph so what ever works but it gives me a guide to what and when I like the taper off aspect as shown but I stretch it. That maybe for the highest THC range because we swap a small % of thc for bulking. THC is supposed to peak at 8 weeks then slowly degrade. I cut at 11 weeks fk the rest of the bs....11 weeks done. no looking at trich's chop and dry, if they ain't done fkem they is getting smoked.....lol

I have had a good amount of purples in my grows.
Some may be genetic but I do believe that night time temp can induce it even without genetics.
I have also had plants that were supposed to go purple that did not when grown indoors under my control but did outdoors with much cooler nights.
I have one buddy that just swears it is a deficiency no matter what~!;slap

I actually sorta believe this!
I think the VPD chart isn’t thorough enough, it doesn’t contain enough axis!

I think the x=temp and y=RH needs to be joined by a “Z” to differentiate between VPD=1.0 that is possible at nearly every temp (above about 55 or 60), simply by managing RH.

I think the low lights out temps are slowing or stopping something, maybe a cleanup process that a warmer plant might do properly.

Just a guess! But the deficiency issue has come to my mind as well!
