Movies/Documentaries (general TV programs)

saw this just came on netflix, i'll give it a go..

My wife has been keeping secrets. I asked if she'd heard of The Lioness. She said, "Yeah, it's a great show. I love it!" So, she's been watching this one without me 🤪.

the same thing happen to me with the new cobra kai just released... found out today that i'll be watching it solo!!! haha

I watched season one a while back but never bothered with season two.

i've tried to watch this multiple times and can never get past the first episode.. sucks cuz i want to like it and can't... loved 1883 though!! 1923 sucked.. not harrison fords best work there.

I got into this after everything had dropped so I started with 1883 and 1923 then got into the 5 season series.
Episode one is almost an introductory to characters and it takes a few episodes to get into all the players and what's happening.
In a weird way, I kinda compare it to The Godfather saga but with Montana cattle ranchers and cowboys.
Once I understood "Take him to the train station" and what that meant, along with Rip's character, I was hooked.

I enjoyed The Penguin. Farrell's make-up made him unrecognizable and he did a great job in this role.

This one finally dropped it's final episode so I can binge it. All I've heard are good things about it.

Just binge watched season 6 of CK and feeling disappointed again. One they still haven't dropped the final episode and two the acting is as bad as ever. Kinda feeling like it peaked at season 3 and shoulda been over after 4.
Johnny is the only one who keeps me coming back to give it a chance but even he can't save it at this point.

We just finished this last night. If you like shows at the end of an episode you’re like what the fuck is happening?! This is one for you.

I would but I hear there's a Kelce in it and I'm boycotting everything Travis and Jason Kelse since the media and national advertisers seem to think it's cool to jam those two jackasses down my throat at every turn.

If you're not into football then you've been spared. You're lucky in those regards. But if you are into football and especially the NFL, you know what I'm ranting about 😋

I’ve been sparred I have no clue what you’re talking about lol

I’m so out of touch with shit like that. I just learned what the hawk tuah girl was a couple weeks ago. I got rid of all my socials a few years ago with just having a couple forums, YT account and no cable just streaming platforms. I don’t see a lot, Ignorance is bliss sometimes. 🤣

I can only wish I'd never heard of Hawk Tuah girl but TBH, she's done some pretty cool things with her 15 minutes of fame and money.

Social media is the downfall of human society IMO. There's no way in Hell I'd ever have a facebook page, twitter handle, or worst of all make content for TikTok. Just thinking about that made me throw up in my mouth a little.
What bugs me is when content from those platforms make mainstream news outlets and that's usually how I hear of them.

I just finished a series on Netflix...Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial
This is a really well done breakdown of the Nuremberg Trials which has always been a very deep dive.
Like watergate hearings or trying to read the Warren Report, they're very long with only a few surprise or ah-ha moments. This docuseries does a great job making it a watch every moment type deal.
It's extremely graphic with actual footage and photos and using admitted evidence and actual testimony dubbed over actors who have no dialogue and just give the watcher a picture to digest.
If y'all are into WWII docs I'd put this one up as a must watch

I've been watching High Potential with my wife, its ok I guess. Decent filler TV.
Started The Day of the Jackal last night but didn't even finish episode 1.
So I'll be getting back into that later.

Rewatched resident alien cause that shot was hilarious and still is!

TV is all on pause at the moment it seems

Geology anyone?
It's a really good documentary about the history of Geology and how we come to understand deep time and continental drift.
There's 3 parts 3x 1hr of great documentary.

Well now that the annual Xmas movie fest is over it's onto another tradition in my home.
The 4th annual Quentin Tarantino Dec 26th Film Festival because nobody is as violently hilarious at eviscerating some of the worst people in world history. Love his movies!
Whether it's nazis, slave driving racist and murdering fuck plantation owners, the Manson family, LAPD, rapists, and more...Nobody makes killing them as fun to watch as QT.
I mean...I could watch nazis being killed in various ways all day long if I had the time so for '24 I'm kicking it off with Inglorious Basterds. It's like celebrating Christmas twice watching this movie

i thought natural born killers was good back in the day, even bought the soundtrack... the rest of Tarantinos movies are not for me.. tried watching them all, as i'll always try watching a movie before i say i don't like it. and i've tried them all.. don't like em.. dajango wasn't bad but i wouldn't watch it again.

on my radar for the weekend,,,

the new gladiator..

the order...

and the new season 2 of squid games...

Watching new Squid games.
Did watch the first season.

season 1 is rated 8/10.. i would have given it a 5.5 maybe a 6. enough that i'll give the second season a try!!

i also wanna start watching the new star wars series this weekend..

and i still have a few episodes of the second season of tulsa kings to watch yet.

Well I was gonna transition into a Robert Rodriguez film fest to keep the Austin movie maker theme rolling with such greats like Machete 1&2, Desperado, Once Upon A Time In Mexico, and Dusk Till Dawn but I'll postpone that until tomorrow for today, I will feast on the blood of enemies

I just started watching Agatha All Along and so far so good. It's a marvel spinoff of Wandavision

The finale of Star Wars Skeleton Crew is tonight so I'll try to binge watch the series tomorrow. It looks like it's for kids mostly but I'll give it a chance

I just happened to decide to try Skelton Crew over the weekend. I had no idea the finale was coming up (I honestly thought it was already over) but basically started one night & ended up binging the entire thing up to the finale. I was actually pleasantly surprised. Yes it's more of a "kids story" but it was really well done, just a fun not overly serious adventure. If you haven't watched it yet I would highly recommend it.

I think I've got about 2-3 episodes left and yeah it's not bad. Definitely has the Disney stamp on it compared to other Star Wars series. Kinda like the final season of Mandalorian started leaning heavy into the kiddo audience but ya know...shit I got into ESB in 3rd grade and still love it 40 years later.

I also realized I never got thru all of The Acolyte and am catching up on it. And I think I read another season of Andor is on the way. They've done well with the origin stories IMO.

Yep #8 is the last one for Skeleton Crew.

I need to rewatch the last 3 of Acolyte because I had it on but was going back and forth between living room and grow room. A jedi wookie was pretty cool.

The new Gladiator will be on Paramount + on the 21st. Been looking forward to that one but waited for it to come up on one of my streams.
Kinda done with going to the movies since people seem to be going to be assholes taking reserved seats or putting phones on speaker thru the films. Not sure if it's just a thing in my city or a tiktok challenge but it's keeping me out of theaters.
I damn near rented it on prime but decided to wait and I've only had to wait 3 weeks lol.

Happy!

Downloaded this a few years ago. Great show. Funny, nutty and a little crazy. Whole family liked it. Not for young children.

Superb Time Machine AKA A Complete Unknown movie took me back in time. The scene where Al Kooper sits down to play the organ introduction sent chills down my spine. Most deserved of Oscar, Joan Baez was superbly portrayed. FYI, I once washed her windows and made dinner for Joan Sr. before I left town.

Happened to see this in the list of comedies. Haven’t watched it yet but downloaded for later.

Added it to my watchlist buddy! Thanks for the rec!

I've had this one in my que for a while but haven't got the nerve to watch it yet

I've also been getting into some DC stuff....
The animated Harley Quinn show is about as naughty as it gets and a really fun watch.

The newer movies that got bad reviews and online hate....The Batman w/ Robert Pattinson, Joker, and Joker part deux.
I enjoyed all the three TBH and DGAF about the reviews or opinion infulencers trying to take these movies down. They got it wrong.
The Batman was probably the best since The Dark Knight and the two Joker movies are really good IMO. They're all dark and gritty origin story type movies. Raw and unhinged and not cartoonish at all

Poltergeist on roids...if you wanna scare the fuck outta your kids or nieces and nephews grandkids whatever...this is that movie that'll haunt them into adulthood. No lie, glad I didn't see this one as a kid ...not to be confused with "beyond the darkness" which is also decent but this one has like everything scary you ever imagined as a kid
