I am a relatively new grower myself, learning nutrition, lighting, and grow schedule for best yield. It a Journey, enjoy the learning and relax. we have "Time" I believe. Cheers SSgrower

Any updates on the plants since you stripped them @Observer ?
Stripped 2plants one night, and then the others the next or day after, this will the 2/3rd night after stripping of new flower plants.

"I think they are still recovering a little, but they are perking to the light and even turned it back up after turning it down for the strip, been having colder weather but now I got the temps back up.

Looks like a bunch of new little nodes are trying to grow

I'll have the ENV at 80sF/70s RH tonight

Making veg solution mix, 20th I should be switching to bloom ratio, after stretch.

Thank you

👊

the only time i've used a wetting agent for watering in anything has been in peat based media when it dries out. the only reason i did then is because peat becomes hydrophobic when it gets dry and the only real effective way to get it to knock its shit off is with a water wetter. gotta break the surface of those molecules to make the shit accept it again.

i've seen a lot of mention about using aloe extract for that exact purpose as well, though from a sterility standup i wouldn't put anything organic in a reservoir. just too much risk of sugars or other living shit you don't want in it.

is using them in a mixture a good practice, "one of those fine details" for little improvements?

worth it?

it depends on the end goal. like i said, i use that specific surfactant when applying things like glyphosate and mesotrione to weeds outdoors. I noticed a HUGE increase in effectiveness when doing so vs not using a surfactant. The non-ionic part is important in terms of that chemistry but i don't know exactly how or why -- @Dirtbag might be able to explain better.

If one is having issues in peat based soils, sure i could see adding a water wetter as having a benefit. I'm not sure what the implications would be for air to water ratios in the media would be, but it's helped me recover some pretty neglected medias in the past in a one-time application.

In hydro? you might see some different things occur like ability to decrease input EC or even worry less about DO levels. However, you could see the opposite too. I've never really thought out it, to be honest. Experiment! Run one plant with it and see what the results are at the root level and topside after a week to a month. Worst case you kill a plant, best case you just unlocked some new method that could have practical applications.

My hypothesis says it's something that may have isolated and targeted use cases, eg combating pathogens or overcoming lockout due to salt build up. I am probably completely wrong though.

Thanks man.
Experiment
i could do that when i get the "veg" tent emptied out.
good little experiment to have.

I only used wetting agents regularly when using pro-mix or other peat based media like tobh mentioned. Peat is naturally somewhat hydrophobic and doesn't absorb water that great which is why it comes pre charged with surfactant. I'd add it to the res once a month or so to make the nutrient flow through the peat media better and hold on to more solution, eliminate dry pockets or channeling etc. I did use it with rockwool but only when I gave the blocks their first soak, and it honestly probably wasn't necessary.
Basically, its beneficial in peat mixes, kinda pointless in anything else.

gotcha, appreciate the Info.

ill just pursue potassium silicate for now, to add to the base.

to me, it definitely seems to visually make a difference in/ Veg.

besides flower, which i dont think id want to use it in flower.

Light is closer, and 100%

They perkin

Removed more leas here and there

veg - maximize growth parameters/maximize nP = Net Photosynthesis, leafs for days

Flower - open up the canopy to focus on buds - stripping - allows the LEDs to "penetrate" down more through the canopy - can also allow easier RH control - lets say the strip is a stress-or and also "promotes" growth
also, less to trim come harvest can make this a lot longer detail post but this seems to be the gist of it.

Continuously removing any leafs blocking the lower/inner-canopy

They are growing back quickly now and new growth is growing out moreso.

For the plants that haven't started to flower yet, it would be a good idea to hold off pulling any more leaves until the buds are set, 2-3 weeks of just letting them regrow through the stretch. Once the stretch is done, get in there and pull some more.
It's best if you let them just do their thing for a little while with no added stress.

Smacking them down is good, but you gotta let them get back up too.

Gotcha.

Forgot that little detail, wait till after stretch.

Thanks man.

13$ from DHgate.

Got another piece coming tomorrow.
Other piece, I paid 32$ for.

......

Walk into a shop and bet they'd ask 100+ for it
Wanted the lighter color one, green or a pink/purpleish as I like to see the smoke travel through it.

This one may be the 5th one or so I've bought, broken the other ones, they hit soooo smooth.

Gotta figure out the 5x5

Rearrange and setup run off collection, the drip system, the net.

Wil have to put the few that are flowering ahead somewhere else or say fuck it and chop em
