That my good SIRS' is a bobcataronias AKA ...Links....100%....

Google bobcat takes down deer how many videos you find Google bobcat takes down mule deer try that one....
💯
Agree, I also think that's a big ass bobcat. Went looking on Facebook for the picture I saw earlier today but it wasn't on our Town's web page so I couldn't find it

Have discussed that same topic about Bobcat taking down deer more than once, and seen the pictures. I remember being surprised how small the cat prints were next to the deer's.

Badass little hunters no doubt...that is a big one. If you really look at the rear leg with the spots on the inside and the long body tells me it's an adult. Can't really see the feet, but it's adult

That was a point of contention on the original article, some people saw a tail others saw a leg.

This picture was from a trail cam in an adjacent town. I saw it a couple days ago but forgot about it

There was a big debate whether it was a bobcat or a mountain lion, what do you think it is?

I saw another similar picture today in another Maine town (not sure where it is), although they are not supposed to be here a lot of post said that they've also seen cougars out hunting or on trail cams

The cat prints chasing the jumping deer in my story above were smaller than the size I would expect from a mountain lion

To me I see a cougar/mountain lion. Same animal.IMG_5575.jpeg

Bobcats look like a fuzzy leopard with no tail.IMG_5574.jpeg

Any opinions what this track is? That's my boot on the right for size comparison, it was about as big as my fist View attachment 109754View attachment 109756
Only cat I know that doesn’t retract its claws when walking/running is a cheetah. They are more dog like.

If the tracks are older and in the sun they are going to be bigger and distorted.

You’ll need a real hunter to help identify these, or at least more knowledgeable than me.

Thanks for the reply, I've posted this before and most people think it's a bear because of the unretractable claws, a few people thought it was a cat, and others have mentioned that it might be appearing bigger than original due to the Distortion you mentioned

this was last November near my back stair and there was a lot more on the other side of the garage that appeared to be the same print

Still not sure, from what I could see online I think it might have been a small bear but I can't say for sure

Bear came to mind when I saw the claw marks but your foot is much bigger. Wouldn’t think a small cub would be out on its own in November.

ibk you'd think bear even a smaller one would leave claw marks of some kind. But you did show us a pic of a small bear crossing the road before.
And they do Snoop around at peoples houses out in nowhere, but Black Bears should be sleeping.
Gonna say doggy family? Maybe?
Or Sasquatch Sasquatch family?

Had some odd tracks one winter.
They went right along in the back yard and went right up to my dog door that is fortunately blocked closed.
We are betting a bobcat even though none have been spotted.
I am still saying bobcat for you as well.

I looked it up and agree that bears should be hibernating by then.

I suppose it could be a dog although to see a dog around here would be odd , more likely coyote or even wolf

there were a lot of tracks over on the other side of the garage, these are them

I'm starting to feel a lot better thinking these are canine 😄

yep sasquatch!! definitely sasquatch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha

seriously though i love to read tracks in the snow.. gotta be fresh though, melted tracks are tough to determine size and weight.

maybe this winter we should play a game of "name that track"!!! i don't know, if Granny gets another shot of her poor cat dragging his balls in the snow again that might be the winner of the winter!! haha

.

i'm pretty sure that other photo is bobcat... the nose it too short to be lion, and that tail is bob'd and black tipped... the white is it's junk, and the leg is behind... we can even see the matching dark fur under both legs. gotta be a leg and a short tail.

we have bobcats here, i've seen them. a family over the next hollar raised them and sold them for decades, they say none ever escaped but i always wondered if thats what started the population here. the timing sure lines up!! hehe

There's a problem here with deer numbers with them not having any predators, there's literally 10,000s of people happy to control the numbers but without written permission and a firearms cert it's illegal, there's a minority group wanting to re introduce wolfs (populated areas) to control the numbers so I'm wondering what the reality is when wolfs and people meet?
Jfc that's unarmed people.

Random pic for the week it's a braw colour 😍

Funny you mentioned Sasquatch, very few sightings up here compared to the Northwest but there's a woman not too far away who claims to have had a very up close, personal and frightening experience with one just about 10 years ago! she wrote a book and she tours and talks about it so she's either crazy or there's more going on than we're aware of 🤔 I forgot her name I'll try to Google it when I'm back in the house and put up a link, I'd want to know more about it, might even buy her book if it's not too pricey I enjoy reading anyway

Doesn't surprise me, anytime I hear someone say 'we're from the government and we're here to help' I run the other way! 😡
