Stoney grows Honey Fried Bananas in RDWC SCROG

They look fantastic and I think it's official...Congrats on your first hydro haul Dude!!!;parti
So happy you finally get to experience this!
Any plans for another round and expansion?

IDK much about the flush either. The products to do it are kinda weird...like mine is just yucca extract and I think floarkleen is sugar water. Plain water is probably good too.
I forgot to check before and after but current running ppm for maybe the past 12-15 days has been less than 200 and base from the tap is 150. My max was 1150.
I think it's mostly a way to get them to eat up the rest of what's mobile in their system before they get the chop.

Yours stayed pretty well uniform........ Well done on the harvest buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm getting excited for the harvest!! last night i drained it all out and put in zero ppm water with florakleen. nothing left to do except wait it out now.

the rez is really clear without any nutes in it!!!! thats full to the top with water!!! you can just see a tiny bit where the heater cord comes out of the water and thats it!! haha

Thanks man, it feels freakin awesome!!!! and it stinks in all the right ways!!!!!!! man is this a pungent girl!!! i reached under there the other night to sweep up some debris and man it made me gag a little, had to step back and take a breath!!

i'm not quite sure about any expansion yet. my plan was to take a look at these roots when i harvest and if there's some room in the buckets yet and the roots aren't packed the shape of a bucket i'm going to let it ride. i'm hoping i don't have to change them out!!! but if they're packed solid i might upgrade to eight gallon plant sites.

hoping these buckets are fine and i can just move forward with the next round. for that i took cuttings of the five biggest plants i have in soil right now. i took two cuttings of each plant and figured i would just pick two that i really liked. i was kinda hoping i'd see more flowering by now and a little bud formation to help me pick as well. good thing is i have at least a week now till i harvest this plant now so maybe by next weekend i'll see something that tells me "yeah, these two!!" haha

but all the cuttings have roots and are ready to go whenever i am... guess it kinda makes em all clones now.. the clonex gel i bought was the only bottle i ever bought and has to be well over ten years old.. still works!!! hehe

one set is of the plant for my neighbor.. not sure when he'll take it or if he even will really, he changes his mind often and there's the clock we all live by and then there's Jim time!!!! hahahaha i love him like family though!!!!!!! he's a fuckin super awesome next door neighbor!!! i happen to have three super awesome neighbors!!! not many people live around me so it's like 95% of all people here are great!!! hahaha

i'll keep it till it don't fit in the tent no more... hahaha

004.JPG

other than that no real plans for anything different. i learned a ton on how not to waste nutes and additives.. it's really the additives that are pricey. i know people say they're not even needed for the most part and that will be where i play around a little more by pulling back on the extras. i'll still use the trio, it costs me like $20 for the two plants in nutes from start to finish so i'm not worried about those at all. and i learned i don't need to add bennies every single time so that will save me a bunch right there alone!!!

i think for this next round i might pull the chiller stuff out of the rez and flush it clean and store it for next summer. it will be time for heat soon.

still gonna go with the smaller leca balls and the trix flavor for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! def not changing that part up!! i am going to put less of them in this next round though, once the trunks get big ot pushed some out onto the floor.. i'm gonna leave room next time!!

i'm pretty much on cruise control though from here on out.. top off has over five gallons in it and she's only using a gallon every couple days. the ph doser is keeping things steady and all i have to do is carry down my folding table because i want to do the harvest right there next to the cabinet. i plan to pull the branches off and give them a quick trim with the electrics and then in the bowl trimmer for the touch up. i don't see many dead leaves or any bugs at all so every scrap of trim will be used!!!

Game Time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clones are looking quite ready!

I hear ya on the nutes. I'd say in regards to any negatives doing flood and drain is a large amount of waste by doing weekly changes on a volume 3x the size of the actual grow bed. I think I may use up about 40-60% of the rez vitality before changing but that leaves a lot of food being wasted. Luckily, some outdoor potted plants love that stuff so all is not lost.

Something I stumbled into has my tail wagging.
I pretty much followed instructions of Cultivation Nation and even though some things left me questioning what I was doing, I still did it because maybe they knew better than I did.
One biggie, was pushing the grow nutes, veg nutes, well into flower. It wasn't until 3 weeks into flower it actually called for switching to bloom nutes.
The transition after flip is in inevitable. You can feed veg nutes but at some point the pistils will pop and they will go into flower.
But I saw plants continue to veg for 3-4 weeks after flip because those nutes were still pushing veg.
In soil, I had everything tilted to flower from the start and usually saw pistils 5-10 days after flip. This grow using veg nutes in flower delayed pistils up to almost 30 days.
This, I believe, is the key to unlocking what's possible in a no veg grow, specifically sativas.
I will repeat it the next grow to understand it more but it really seems to me that I can flip a plant to 12/12 and it will continue to veg as if it's on 18/6 as long as it's food is kept tilted to veg and only after I see pistils do I finally switch to the bloom nutes.

I don't see myself expanding either. First thing is repeat what I just did and if I can do it again then go from there. I would like to add in an earthbox though.

yes they are!! in fact they lead the timing.. if anything starts to go funky with them i am harvesting on emergency and putting them in the system. i don't really want to do it but i bet i could have the plant out, system flushed, cleaned, and refilled ready for clones in an hour. not that i want to but i bet i could. i'm kinda prepared for just about anything at this point..

i have some of that clonex food so i'm gonna give them some tonight, they only need to hang on a few more days...

and who we kidding here on the chosen ones.. i have roswell code, fruity pebbles, and great white shark... C'mon.. with the artwork i have, it's gotta be great white shark!!! it's gonna be the clones of my neighbors plant i'm pretty sure.

thats exactly it man, you get it!! it's not that i must use it or it works better with it, i don't mind using products. i mind dumping them out into the yard just because the plant outgrew the strength or ratio. minimum 25 gallons for me. i can be a real shmo sometimes but a wasteful person i am not.

that could be useful for a scrog too.. if i could have gotten some more growth after the flip i would have more yield right now. also prolongs the waste of the veg nutes and more importantly it shortens the flower nute schedule and i could eliminate that part that spikes the nitrogen in the middle of flower. i'd run early flower and late flower schedules on the chart and that would also equal one less change out and one less waste!!

i'm all ears man!!!! i can already see from the soil side this great white shark is not stretching for the moon so they might be a good candidate.. or "great white" candidate!! hahaha

I don't see myself expanding either. First thing is repeat what I just did and if I can do it again then go from there. I would like to add in an earthbox though.

ok, i got one thing in the works... i'm using your idea of your power tables and making my scrog table motorized!!!!!!

thats's right man, power squashing at flip time!! hahaha no really the reason is for adjustability. i moved my table up and down four times this grow before i actually flipped. thats two screws per bracket times four brackets moved four times thats sixty four times i was bent over screwing around!!! literally!!!!!!! not to mentions getting out, setting up, and putting away my laser level each time!! PITA!!

so i bought two eighteen inch actuators and a dual remote control... one mounted on the wall and one hand held for while i'm bending the branches for the squash. and now instead of having one hand on the table lowering and one to move branches, now i'll be able to use both hands and still use the remote!!!

harvest is finished!!!!!

001.JPG

got a box of buds, box of chopped trim, and a box of sticks n junk!! the only tools i used were a pair of snips, a BB edition bud bucker, and a bowl trimmer. took about a whole fifteen minutes and maybe another fifteen for clean up.. no trim jail for me, hell there wasn't even enough time to get booked in at county!!!! hahahaha

once it's all dry i'll post some final numbers and in the mean time keep an eye out for a Great White Shark Attack!!!!!

Record breaking trim time~!
Not even enough time to stop and toke. ;clp
Hope you get the good paranoid buzz from the early harvest.
Looks like maybe the bigger buckets would be a good thing.
All that brown could be from lack of flow down low where the roots packed in?
That's a lot of roots~!
Nice grow buddy~!;budi
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Record breaking trim time~!

it really was.. i almost didn't believe it. i started by just snipping a few branches, i originally planned on cutting them all from the bottom and then separating from there. but i started just lifting the edges and cutting from the top, i cut maybe six or seven.. only took a few seconds, i had the table set up right in front of the cabinet so there wasn't much walking. i cut a few branches and actually thought about just leaving them dry on the branch. the screen really does make for some perfect individual hangers!!! but the buds were kinda small and it felt weird to hang them traditional so i stripped those branches in the bowl trimmer, gave it a spin and went hmmm.. looks good enough for me!!! thats when i thought about the bucker.. i ran back upstairs and looked at the clock it 11:52 i remember going damn where did the night go??? (watching survivor and amazing race is where it went!! haha) i went back down there and just started snipping and setting them in a box.. when the box was heaping i took it to the bowl and bucked them right into it and spun and dumped right there.. like an assembly line!! i was so focused on task at hand i never paid attention to time just kept going because it was working so well. next thing i knew i was down to the last box full.. i looked up at the light controller clock and it was at five after twelve!!!! i was like what??? thats when i kinda put the brakes on realizing i had plenty of time to clean up and finish.

then i fucked around a while getting the system bleached scrubbed and drained.. even filled up the mixing barrel ready for the new mix, i wasn't planning on doing any of that till today so i'm ahead of the game a little right now. i still need to clean the netcup lids yet, but thats about it!

Hope you get the good paranoid buzz from the early harvest.

i don't normally scope because i can find trics of all stages at any given time on any given bud so i always felt scoping trics was hokum, i can skew the shot to be whatever i want to trics to be. move over a few trics and it read something totally different.

but i happen to have a new scope that i bought for bugs and i thought i'd give it try.. ehhh.. i saw clear, i saw cloudy, and i saw amber.

hoping for the good head buzz though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like maybe the bigger buckets would be a good thing.

yes sir, i agree... some pretty packed and shaped roots on the bottom there.. something i need to look into and shop for, i'll continue on with the next round but something i need to think about for sure!!!

All that brown could be from lack of flow down low where the roots packed in?

there for sure had to be some sort of circulation issue. when i lifted the roots from the bucket i didn't do it all in one motion. i lifted and then stopped and grabbed another bucket and lifted a few more times with the ir stone eaten up and the tube getting caught. once i got them all out that plant site was absolutely gross and not clear like the rez!! by time i went to add bleach the water was very murky!!

not sure if i need to turn the pump up or something or maybe it was just the fact of too compacted roots.

Nice grow buddy~!;budi
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

same to you my friend!!! hope you had a nice relaxing day with lots of laughs and great food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great job homie!

thanks man!!!! now the real pressure is on because now i have no excuse not to perform and i'm not testing or practicing anymore!!!!

its about time too right?!?!? man after a whole year and four title changes we finally have a product!!!

it smells fantastic and i hope the flavor comes through as well!!!

i am a bit worried on how the roots weren't clean i wonder if that five day flush even really did anything at all. i wonder if maybe right before i did the flush change out i should have pumped the lids up and down to agitate the roots and get some of that gunk out of them and then fill it back up. maybe even let it drain a little longer to let the solution drip from them first. i don't wanna say i messed up the end but i think there are a few things i can do better there.

i have a whole bunch of mental notes i can use for the next round. i'm pretty excited to get the next two candidates in place and see what can happen. so these honey fried bananas were the smallest two plants out of that last round i grew, the new great white shark clones are from the biggest plant i grew this round!!! i'm excited to see just how much genetics plays a role because other than operation nothing is changing this next round.. same nutes, same extras.. same same same.. new plants!!

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks outstanding and congrats once again on your first hydro haul!
Let's get down to business now!
How's the early comparisons vs your soil grown?

thanks so much man, i hope to take what i learned and improve on it from here..

so i really went at this totally bias.. in my head i said, organics are the best no hydro can compete.. i tried and early doob of it, now i'm not a flower guy but i know if something is off.. nothing was off, not a single foul taste and even burned a clean ash and wasn't totally dry yet and zero cure. i was a bit blown away and also not believing myself. so in my head again i said, the squish will be the test, i'll know for sure when i melt the goo!! left it cure for about five days maybe. man i can't tell the difference. for real man, not even a single thing. i've even forgotten that it was hydro and started picking apart the terps and just hitting it for the smooth goodness that my squish normally brings.

i can't tell the difference.. if it wasn't written on the jar i wouldn't know.

and man i so wanted it to be noticeable and me not like it, i'm going to get other opinions for sure but for me personally i can't taste a difference.

the squish has been curing itself over a couple days and has gotten pretty dry out in open air. and it's a low 28% in here...

016.JPG

but i know how you like the michael bubbly action so this clip's for you!!!
melted honey fried bananas!!!

tastes even better than it did on tuesday... no tickle, no cough, the flavor isn't too far off from the name. so if you pull a banana from a bunch, one that is perfect and not overripe and mushy. and quickly smell the stem, thats what this tastes like to me.. that flavor profile right there!!!!!

but bro no metal taste, no "i taste cal/mag" or anything even the slightest bit detectable that would even suggest in any way that it wasn't my normal herb! summbitch!!!

i still get to say i'm a soil grower that has a hydro setup on the side!!! haha

That's really great to read!
I started to post my thoughts then deleted it so I could see what you said first.
I agree 100% and TBH, my 'dro may taste and hits even cleaner than my organic.
There are some aspects to organics that put far more metal into our weed than synthetics...I'd say synthetic is just enough while organic can be gluttonous in that context. This is one of the things that moved me into not being so set on it being organic. Clean is most important to me, not organics.
But yeah, I totally agree with everything you said. Even getting better by the day and the reaction to cure.
I feel like maybe the flush or running at less than 200ppm for the final month helped a lot in the smoke being cleaned up, IDK, but I am so so so very happy with the results I pulled off too.
