Vegetable gardens are doing well, still slow but healthy.









Cucumbers are doing great. We decided to have this one as our first of the year.

Cayenne peppers are coming in strong. Over 50 peppers started.

20260715: Gorilla Blue

Heat and humidity have been horrid. Air quality is very poor. The smoke from northern fires is visible and you can smell it. It’s sort of like fog or pollution haze.

Yesterday at 5pm the wind picked up and brought the humidity down until after dinner.


Sons clones have been setup in the one tent. I added the GB seedlings this morning. The one with the small tail hasn’t come up yet. If nothing by tomorrow I’ll pop another.

These were in the window the last few days. I’m hoping they do better down here.

As long as they’ve got water the gardens seem to be loving the heat and humidity. Cucumbers are going nuts. Tomatoes are taking off. Watermelons and corn are trying, looking real healthy.

Hoping the fires up north and in the west don’t cause issues like a couple years ago. Blocking sunlight and adding to the humidity. At 9am it’s already too hot.

Smoke is bad here no sun today sky has yellow tinge to it and dark like dusk. No wind today to move it up your way but you can sure taste the smoke.

We're good here we've had some very nice days with just a small breeze to keep the bugs away. We have our cats out around 7pm -8pm when we get shade in the front yard. They love it out on the grass on the line. 28C@60% with a bit of a haze might get thunder showers tonight

Monday and tuesday 35C here hard to breath air is heavy worse today with all that smoke moving in. All windows closed running central air been a hot month cant wait for hydro bill running central air and 2 dehumidifers 24/7 but well worth the expense for comfort.

I take my 2 dogs everyday year round for a two hour run than take them to the lake spring to fall to cool off it takes the edge off them there nice and quiet and content for the rest of the day. There not happy with me today im not taking them in all that smoke bad for my health bad for the dogs also.

Willow hasn’t had many walks the last two weeks. Most being later evening or early morning. From 6am until maybe 9am she’s with me in the yard. Lots of shade but still high humidity and air quality issues.

I’m not a Ford fan, even before the Ford government decreased Ontario's emergency forest firefighting budget $30 million for the second year in a row. He’s our version of Trump.

20260715: Gorilla Blue

One didn’t come up so I’ll have to pop another. The other is looking okay so far.

Garden was looking great until yesterday.

First one of the four cauliflowers got infested with aphids so bad I just ripped out the plant. I didn’t check them for to days because of the weather and smoke. Seems that was all they needed. Never seen so many!


Using Safer’s soap has cleared out what was left. I’ll be checking each morning and night until I know they are gone. Need to spray at least once a week the next two weeks when eggs hatch.

This morning I found what I thought was a rabbit chewing the base of a tomato stalk. G$ thinks it’s probably a rat. Either way it’s got to be stopped.

On the bright side the cucumbers are giving us one to eat once a week so far.

The rest is coming along nicely if I can keep the wild life off them.

I can’t upload the 20 second movie I made but it basically saves you interrupting your practice shots by letting you use your cue to place the balls in the same spot over and over again until you’re ready to do another place.

Saturday is our next possible chance for rain. Your further north than most I talk with but from weather reports I’ve watched you should be getting something. How much I don’t know. Hope you and the dogs get through okay.

I’m dreading the hydro bill. Two months of non stop AC and a dehumidifier running is going to be pricey. But suffering if you don’t have too isn’t worth it.

20260721: Gorilla Blue

One seed never came up so o dig it up. It’s brown but not squishy so I put it in a shotglass with water and h2o2. I also started a new seed which just popped.

The first to pop is doing fine. But I found this poor yellow seedling growing in the worm bin. I tossed it into a shot glass just to see what it is. Could be a cucumber, melon, strawberry or even cannabis?

So one auto is fine, ones pending, and another’s almost ready to plant.

Made a cue extension for my sons cue. He’ll need a proper bullet head screw but otherwise it’s a good size and fit compared to my real one.

20260723: Gorilla Blue

I fished out the one seed that stalled. It’s now in a shot glass with H2O2 water. If it comes back I’ll try again.

It’s replacement was planted yesterday.

I found a sickly sprout in the older worm bin. I was hoping it was strawberry but I suspect it’s cannabis. It turned green after two days. After a few it’s looking okay.

So now we have three I’m watching and one in a shotglass that’s pending.

The worm bin is still going strong. I’ve been getting juice daily this month. Great for foliar spray or adding to the water.

I’ve been collecting kief the last 24hrs. Going to bake some hash soon.

Dealing with the wildlife on the outside vegetable garden still. Made some domes to protect the bases and I’m trying to start new roots. I’ll post that stuff later.

Made hash with the trim kief. The GG#4 & Sherbanger #22 made it super sticky. Kind of wish I saved more of the leaves.

Added more triple mix to the garden beds yesterday then I put water bottle tops around the chewed tomato stems. Added soil and rooting powder to try and keep them alive.

The rest of the garden is doing okay now that the aphids have been removed from the cauliflower.





We have three cucumbers that will be ready by the weekend. I’m pretty much resigned to setting up the one smaller live trap to see if I can catch either the rat or rabbit that’s been chewing on things. Snap trap if that fails, but only for the rat.
