Early signs of light/heat stress?

300w light has been at 100% for Twin1 for over a week. And Solo is at higher LUX but not 100% for 450w.

Twin1: This is a few inches below top canopy.


This is the same above leaf. Has a bronze mark.


Top down. Burnt tips tonight. Not just yellow but black and crispy. Some of the fingers have burnt side points burnt too.


A few leaves at the outside look like this.


Solo is not showing anything but typical burnt tips. She’s further from the light.

Humidity and temp have been higher than I like but less than 55% RH & 28c. Lowest in the same week 36% RH & 22c.

Both plants seem to be getting the dark shadows on the leaves that signals purple is coming. IMO.

This would be week 5 now, 30 days after 12/12 flip.

I disagree with trying to show all deficiencies on a single leaf. Plus different levels of deficiencies have slight different looks as they progress. The position on the plant also indicates and supports or excludes diagnosis. To me thats just to over simplified to be reliable.

Each leaflet represents one individual deficiency imo its a good overall reference.

I have Base, Grow, Bloom, Karma & Sweet Tea. Next feeding is Flower Week 5.
(2ml/3.5L Pro Cal 0-0-2 was added once on June 12th feeding.)

Water is tap that sits for at least 24hrs.

Just after flip when I got clones gifted I sprayed 15ml sulphur in 1.2L water. It was left over from spraying clones. So now I have white spots that almost look like WPM.

Twin1 just got fed on the 17th. Solo on the 18th. They get the same mix.

That’s good sadly. Dehumidifier is running and grow room doors are closed.

Lights on the temps try for 30*c but I keep around 27/28*c. Humidity can be 38 to 58 in the same day. RH 43% is current target.

Other than the bronzing and burnt tips i think humidity is my biggest issue.

I have the Canna tri-fold leaf deficiency chart in the tent pouch. I’ll get that out when lights come on.

Starting with Zone 2, which is pre-Veg, I seem to see this type of deficiency with bronzing and Manganese type symptoms. This is the 3rd or fourth time, and second time this grow for Twin1.

Very frustrating. Bad timing as well. Going to be offline for two weeks starting on the 24th. So I have about 3 nights I can try to resolve this before I’m on my own.

Twin1 isn’t showing any further signs of stress but I’m still not sure what caused it.


Only other top leaf with a brown spot. The finger beside the bud.


I’ll try to post a few pics before my two week absence.

It will be interesting to see the jump from week 5 to 8.

I will look into adding 3ml/3.5L ProCal next feed. Haven’t used epsom since GNick told me to leave it out.

Garden wise I haven’t been able to pop some old sunflower seeds. (To be fair it’s 10 year old wild bird seed from dads farm but I’ve seen the dam things sprout under the feeder FFS.)

The old lettuce seeds popped, but putting them in soil hasn’t helped any. They get another week before moving on.

30 minutes to make a post...now can I save it?

I think your humidity is to low brother. Usually K is a watering issue but think here it’s environmental. If you go by that chart you also cutting N a bit to soon

I was going to add ProCal 2-0-0 next feed at 3ml or 4ml per 3.5L. Just haven’t looked up yet to see if that’s good.

Crazy start to my day.

Twin1 was a bit droopy last night but still had a day to go by meter. But this morning I saw this 25 minutes before lights out.


Just managed to feed and take out runoff as lights went out. So much for a slow feed. Usually get 500ml runoff. Got 1.5Lthis time.

Then outside we had a new visitor move in. Probably from the food factory. I’m thinking rat. No chipmunks around here and I haven’t seen a red squirrel in a while. (Raptors moved into the area over Covid.)

Found a lot of dirt and a hole at the bottom steps.


Then I saw something has tried to eat the plants bark through the cage.


Don’t think rabbits can squeeze through but I know a rat could. Argh. Always something.

Garden is okay I think.

Solo: Seems okay but found a bronze spot last night. Turned down light just a tad.


Twin1:


To many of Twin1 bottom leaves are turning yellow or striped. IMO.

Twin1 healthy leaves on left and Solo is on right. Colour is much richer on Solo.

Pretty sure Twin1 has more than just a N issue but I suck at this.

Looks like I was at least partly right about the light stress. (Sorry Moe I know it’s wrong but you know what I mean. )

Solo: The bronze mark doesn’t go under the upper leaf. Not exactly a smoking gun but good enough for now.

(I think the microscope glitched when the fan blew on the leaf. Shifted.)

She’s looks a bit more purple to me and starting to swell. A few pistils look dark now.


I hope she keeps improving.


Twin1: She’s enjoying the higher temps and humidity today. (Solo seemed happier too but Twin1... you judge.

One or two fingers with little burn marks but that’s it. So far. And not on the highest leaves. Otherwise she’s rocking it. All leaves pretty much horizontal top to bottom. Glad I got this on film, so to speak.

After this I’ll either BBQ at least one plant or have a last minute deficiency kick in. Probably started by overwatering. (As I’m learning to feed the plants when they say, not the meter.) Leaves really tell you a lot when healthy. Harder to read when unhealthy.

Wifey wanted to try the cucumber before she left. Just in case wildlife comes for it.

About 4.5” long and 2.5” diameter.


As promised it tasted great!

Almost forgot. I made this today. Had the idea a while ago but wasn’t sure if it would fly. It’s basically a weighted net. About 6’x4’ to go over Twin2. I think it can work but it’s the leftover cheap nylon 6” square holes net. Raining so It will have to wait.


Sounds like I’ll be able to check back one more time in the morning.

Week 8 Flower Day 52:

For the last two weeks I switched to ProMix 3-6-12. The Botanicare KIND nutes didn’t seem to fit what I was hoping to do. Tossed in ProCal 2-0-0 last feed to help Twin1.

Humidity and temps have been high, especially in night mode.

Each day of the heat wave was a fight with each night only bringing minor relief.

Surprisingly temperatures in the 28-32 Celsius range didn’t cook things as long as the humidity was between 40-50 percent. Or so it seems.

Bumping the SCROG light above the 300w LUX seems to have improved bud production but also started bleaching/burning of leaves and pistols after a few days. I put it up and down from day to day depending on the tent and room temperatures.

I have noticed that the heatwave killed or at least slowed the purple onset of color. Solo has more purple but not like usual. I’m assuming it’s due to the higher lights out and on temperatures.

Both are getting yellow washed out leaves but Solo looks good. Twin1 seems to always have a few yellow every lights on. While Solo is more weekly.

Had to move things around. Twin1 is about 6’ at the top three branches. Also made some rabbit changes and solar night lights.

Finally getting enough rain to call a watering. Took most of the day just making humidity. No different working in the rain or when it stopped. Just as damp.

Cooler temps coming. Can’t wait.

Can’t sleep so pics in the rain. Miss having a porch. Gazebo is close but not quite the same.

Riding, bike or motorcycle, was also cool some nights in the rain.

I’d walk Willow but she’s not a fan. Hard enough getting her to pee in the rain.

Basement humidity is up to 80% with the all day rain. Tents fighting to stay at 55%.

Think tomorrow is going to be worse. More rain. More humidity but cooler temps start.

Same problem as me. When I was trimming this run I ran out of jars so I had to go raid the pantry for empty spaghetti sauce and pickle jars.
