Watering and weeding the gardens started at 5am and finished at 7am. It was 28* in the shade by then but the slight wind helped with the humidity.

Thunderstorms are expected but we’ve heard that for months with only one or two short showers occurring. Two 50g barrels are at the bottom line.

At least we haven’t had to cut the grass more than once a month.

I’ll take once a month for lawn care over once or twice a week that it’s been here. When I run out of water I’ll drag the hose around and fill the well, lol.

Hose is at the opposite side, pita to setup. No sun in that yard or we’d grow there. We also have reason not to use the house water if at all possible for outside things.

We have four 50g barrels. It usually sees us through to the next rain storm. Just getting further apart the last few years.

I brought it to work for coworkers. My mom's cooking and sharing really rubbed off on me, i love bringing food for others

It turned out amazing!!!

My wife used to make cookies, banana bread and other stuff I’d take in. It stopped after a few years when people started getting greedy. Not leaving a few for others. One guy told me what he wanted me to bring in next time. And he was serious like this was part of my job.

I remember looking over one time when i needed to get blood tests with multiple vials and blood was just squirting in the air to the beat of my pulse....
I have zero stomach for that, so now i stare in the opposite direction until they say they are done lol

i accidentally kneeled on a yellow jackets nest today... only one got me but i learned i can still run!! haven't been chased in a really long time!! haha

Thanks Granny, i didn't know that trick!! i'll remember it for next time.. this one got me right in the middle of the shin so not bad at all.. much better than a knuckle or joint!!

had one go up my shorts one time driving down the road... now that is a place you do not want to be stung!!!! trust me!!! hahaha

I know it's wrong but to me they are all bees lol I'm not a fan. Yes yellow jackets are my #1 enemy, ER visit as a kid for playing around their nest, 20+ stings from yellow jackets on my first exposure. Every time i get stung the reaction is increasingly worse from the last time. Thankfully i don't work landscaping anymore.... Scary days but for real

I don't think I've been stung by a simple bee, only yellow jackets for some reason... Been over a decade since last one thank God

Still remember my dad telling me he had to pick some of them out of by hand on my leg cause they were stuck with the stinger in my leg.... They think cause of how severe that first attack was why i became allergic, not sure if true or not

I saw this documentary where someone purposely stung themselves in the hands to alleviate arthritis, nope not me, count me out lol

Glad it cooled off for you all! Summer is already basically over here weather wise, if this is like the previous three summers I've been here I'll be pulling the air conditioner out of the window in less than 2 weeks...

While I miss the ocean very much I'm not complaining, we have some really nice Falls here, the trees are beautiful. I don't always notice them because I'm in the middle of them, but when I'm up at the top of our road I can see some of the mountains (or arguably hills) and they're absolutely stunning! I can see why people drive to New England for the foliage

We will be running AC here until about mid October. Then we will run heat at night and air during the day! The past three weeks have been the hottest so far, I mean miserable! This morning is gorgeous. It’s 70* and cloudy, unusual but I’ll take it!
It’s also nice to open up the house and allow some fresh air in. My grow appreciates it too!

This was for blood work. Third attempt. Last month they were so busy it was standing room only. I don’t wait long so I left, twice. Back to normal yesterday with only three people ahead of me.

I used to give blood when I worked downtown. Haven’t since I retired. Do they take old people blood?

Windows open all night. Cool breezes lasting even up to this morning. Had a bit of rain the other night so we could water the plants and vegetables. Humidity is gone or low for now.

Didn’t even break a sweat this morning. Wife had a hoodie on and said she was cold.

We had tea but I try not to smoke until after noon. So wife asks me every 30 minutes until I cave.

Been lucky and no stings in years. Yellow jackets are the usual suspects. A few years ago they started building a nest on the car door frame. Centre post that the back door hinges on. That was a surprise.

Bees are cool. Only sting if threatened. For them it’s a death sentence. All the rest get to keep on stinging.

If I see they have a nest around I leave it unless we have a real good reason to remove it.

Yep. Bald face hornets. That’s the nest we got. It’s also why I’m waiting until we have the right night to deal with them.

So far they only hit and bounce off us working in the yard. At least a few times each day. But the nest is getting bigger fast.

Edit: Stupid thing keeps swapping nest for best.

Never used it on a spider bite. My Granny taught me that one. It immediately neutralizes the venom and the burning quits fast! We have a lot of spiders here. Thankfully I’ve never been bit.

We turn off the AC if outside is good enough to open windows. Airing out the basement helps with humidity too.

We just prefer open windows and breezes to AC. I can count on one hand how many times we used the AC in the last two cars.

I just got used to it as a kid. No AC until I was in my 20’s. I still remember huge box fans in windows.

We had a lot of trees that shaded the house too. Trade off was hardly any grass in the back yard under the canopy but we used the space daily until winter.

My wife likes her comforts but the increase to house bills just ticks her off. Rates keep climbing at an unjustified amount.

We are at the point where we can use it when we need too, but prefer to wait until then.

If I’d made it to living up north like I’d planned I’d suffer through just for the freedom and surroundings. Then start saving for the luxuries.

You’re blessed. I’m sure you’ve worked hard for what you have. These are the years you should be enjoying it.
