So turns out Friday was the 18th6am Friday 4/17 is the flipI'll grab a pic in the am

Your getting pretty good at this..you lookin for work?First tick of the year today so there's something else I have to watch out for
won't be long till the tiny black flies are around, I call them mayflies cuz they're here in May till the first part of June but I don't know what they're really called
Stacking a new way now, going to be quicker & easier for me, I'll add up to 6 skids total (if needed) then build more stacks on the other end like bookends
Eventually I'll throw a tarp over the top of it and that plus the three 18' x 5' ft rows I have in the garage will be enough seasoned wood for next winterView attachment 98404

I got alot of this still laying around needs to be cut/split and thrown in the shed...
Your getting petty good. I'd pay well for skilled labor??
Edit...no TICKS

Lmao is that real man...really?...thanks but half the time I'm out there swearing at my wood, I don't need to swear at anyone else's!
If you'd ever like a quick but enjoyable read I found this book interesting, although I didn't get my new stacking idea out of it

Idk...is that a circle the wagons thing? Could be they just light it up??It is, it's about building one of those round wood piles and you build the roof out of wood too, I thought I'd give it a try, but once I saw how involved it was it became just another interesting readView attachment 98420

As much as Maine is lacking in certain infrastructure services the CMP electric crews are amazing! Is this the time to say I told you so?
Monday noted , Thursday down, Friday cleaned up and repaired hopefully.
Good week.

Why fix it before it becomes a problem, right?Sitting at the bar by the back window yesterday afternoon when I heard a buzzing noise, looked over and three or four huge arcs of fire shot up in the air about one second apart as my electricity strobed and then went out
called the town's volunteer fire department, no one answered ...welcome to Maine
4 hours later they had it cut up, the road cleared & power restored
So we continue forward, through the fog

I can't believe they just left something that dangerous! Why fix it before it becomes a problem, right?![]()
My mom was driving down the dump road. A large branch dropped. On her hood and window. Almost went into the cab. She watches now.I can't believe they just left something that dangerous!
Say what you want about Massachusetts (and there's a lot to say about it) but in no Massachusetts city that I've lived in would they have left a tree dangling across a road like that
Four murders in my general area in less than a month
One in my town, elderly woman, no arrests
police say 'no known threat to the public' but they give no other information
A lot of folks think there's a serial killer in the area
i'm not sure what the murder rate is in my general area, but i know the po dunk town i live in last had one about twelve years ago. none that i can remember since. 1/2 hour away and i bet there was one last week! and less than an hour from philly and i bet there was one an hour ago.. sad!
Very few people here, very uncharacteristic of this area.i'm not sure what the murder rate is in my general area, but i know the po dunk town i live in last had one about twelve years ago. none that i can remember since. 1/2 hour away and i bet there was one last week! and less than an hour from philly and i bet there was one an hour ago.. sad!
I had heard about a fight at a bar and one person was charged with the murder I think maybe even convicted, but then somehow they found out that that's exactly what happened to the dead guy, he wandered away fell in a river and drowned. I bet that happens a lot more than people think, I fell in a river once camping in New Hampshire so it does happen, it's easy to do on a few brews"Rainey Street Ripper" is apparently a serial killer living in my city whacking young fellas and dumping them in the river.
However, Rainey St. is a bar scene and what's fantasized about to be a serial killer by online sleuths and what not, are drunk dudes getting too close to the edge of the water to pee, falling in, and unable to beat the current so they drown.
About every other day it seem there's also a report of a homeless person killing another homeless person.
Usually we hit around 75 homicides per year. Road rage, domestic violence, and homeless on fenty or whatever else they shoot up seem to always be the issue
Dad has a horse hobby farm. Rents out the fields. But they have a few emu and deer farms in his area. Both have very high fences. I know deer and jump very high but I guess emu do too. You're not going to believe this one
I was up my neighbors today and he had recently gotten a horse
Told me his emu took one look at the horse and ran off into the woods and hasn't come back for several days
Told me earlier this morning the local animal control officer had paid him a visit
It seems that another neighbor looked out their window and saw what he initially thought was an ostrich running through his back yard and called animal control
...unfortunately the emu remains missing![]()

I have no idea how to catch an emu and his owner wasn't sure either, he was afraid that if he did get it lassoed that he'd struggle and break his neck, so maybe it's just as well we didn't catch himDad has a horse hobby farm. He’s told a few stories how the critters have gotten out and had to be brought home. Coyote were a problem at one point too in the early 2000’s.
I was going to ask if it's a good a neighbor and suggest setting a trap, if not. @stonemason, or someone on here, mentioned emu dung being great cannabis fertilizer, lol. Sounds like a good neighbor and a smart emu. Hope the emu gets home safe.Well now I've seen everything!
I was passing through the house into the kitchen and I saw this coming out of my garage
I never thought I'd be trying to corral and lasso an emu, but that's just Maine for ya, I guess
Called my neighbor he came down with a big yellow tow strap, I put some cat food down shook the bag he put the tow strap loop around the bag and we had one shot at it
But emu's are not only fast they're smart too, so Ricky the emu has gone off into the woods again, neighbor says he belongs to the neighborhood now View attachment 100368
The continuing adventures of Ricky the emu...I was going to ask if it's a good a neighbor and suggest setting a trap, if not. @stonemason, or someone on here, mentioned emu dung being great cannabis fertilizer, lol. Sounds like a good neighbor and a smart emu. Hope the emu gets home safe.
