3D printers and the things growers and stoners can make with them

Hey grower printers,

Show me how you store your spools. I had an avalanche last night because I had shit stacked on top of shit, need to come up with a better way.

Ideas?

Big amazon boxes at first but now I use the biggest tote they sell at walmart and keep it under the printer desk. I think it's a 60 gallon tote with lid

i've been wanting to build a wall rack for them... or maybe even something simple like this,,,

This is nothing more than a cheap shoe rack imo.
Prolly could buy the shoe rack for less than itd cost to build one from PVC
What I really want is one of those wire holder thjngys like at home depot when you buy wire by the foot. Otherwise I'll need a ladder to get to this stuff. If I sleep enough times the solution will come to me. Showers are good for thinkin' too. Maybe I'll take a shower nap.

I was thinking a metal rod to slide them all on but then itd be a PITA/project to get the colors in the middle lol.

Precisely, that's a no go for me. That rod would get really heavy too with 20KG of spools on it.
I like the wire spool idea, just how to execute it to where its 100% functionable lol.

If you put it up above your printer station in the right location you wouldnt even need to pull them off lol.

I've never had a plastic problem using hatchbox or prusa. Even with no bag. But my printers are in my lungroom airspace so it's pretty controlled.

I was reaching for a spool near the bottom and a bunch fell on me. Ruined a print in process. Finally pissed me off enough to raise to the top of the to do list to fix this. Just haven't figured out how to use that space up there except building some shelves. Need more thinking smoke. I can fix that rn.

Yeah that’s the kind of thing I was thinking about.

Here is my mess

That's a really sweet setup man!!!!!

you could just run a couple steel tubes (or wood) across the entire shelf and set the spools in. you could always put in a second set of poles for a second shelf above and even a set of bars behind the first row for overstock of the same rolls.

kind of like this but longer and not wall mounted...

i've often wondered if keeping the rolls in a bag or box really mattered. i guess not.... i think i want to make a wall shelf like that^^

:)

saw this one too.... a little more involved at first but once in place it could be sweet...

My printer bed has me feeling all....

giphy.gif

today.
My love/hate relationship with the tempered glass so called "upgrade" is leaning more towards hate right now.🤬
I've seen my last warp and have had enough. IDK if I've abused it or just not cared for it properly so I'm replacing it and also adding a PEI sheet to the new bed.

Pei for pla all the way.

Powder coat texture for PETG.

Both will be here tomorrow. 😉
I think my issue has been old fashioned neglectful care. Never cleaned it other than scraping it and I can see residue from past prints that won't come up.
Prints are coming out fine but initial layers look bad. Skirts and brims are very wonky. I've been thinking it's the leveling but after doing a fresh level before every print and getting the same result I think it's the bed and my lack of care for it.

Sounds like it. I’ve had awesome luck with these

Top is pei bottom is powder coat.

That white part is the top part of a twist lock system in PETG

If it warps I can’t use it. I can predictably print these one after another. My printers have been running non stop for several days now.

@GoodShit97 if that print is pla I can give you some some advice.

Clean your plate with acetone.
If you decide to get your printer going I’ll walk you thru the rest.

With those smaller net pots, do you still keep the water level a inch below the net pots?
I ran 6" last time and this round I've got a 4" in there. I'm still keeping it an inch under the pot. I can't close the gap without leaking where my plumbing enters.

Are you thinking a larger air gap would be better?

I have not decided yet.

On past grows, I would put an airstone under the net pot and run the water high. The bubbles and splashing is enough to keep a small netpot moist for seedlings. Not needed when the roots hit the water, and I would lower it down at that point.

This time is different. No airstones. We will see. Just got the O2 plumbed in and water testing going on.

Larger volumes of water amd solutions are more stable than smaller volumes
