A new dawn.

Yes it all makes sense. Like the lady, I don't want to ingest the Everclear, and find the hot coffee evaporates most of it. I have looked into reclaiming the alcohol, but for the small amount I need, its one machine less to buy and store. And if the Ethanol works it will quarter the cost. I currently evaporate on the house radiators. :)
Nice I bet those radiators work perfect.nice and slow

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this dark and very rainy morning, hope your all well. :) The results on the two alcohols are in, both tested by a group of fearless buddies over the past week. ( guinea pigs ) 😁

The Jars. Both jars were made up at the same time, and both spent a month in the fridge part of the fridge freezer, the part you keep your milk, that way when ever you open and close the door the jars get a shake, saves having to stir them, easy life or what. 😁
20251101_172855.jpg

First up is the Ethanol jar. Still using the Muslin cloth as a filter as I think its streets ahead of the coffee filters, the coffee filters seem to soak up the stuff we want to keep, where as the Muslin doesn't soak up as much of the alcohol when first pored into the filter, my thinking is that the stuff we want to keep is in that first pour as its been released from the bud, and is heavier than the alcohol, so is sat at the bottom of the jar rather than floating around suspended in the alcohol. And I've also had a better hit from the Muslin strained jars. I came to this conclusion after straining two identical jars, one strained through a coffee filter and the other through the Muslin. (y)

20251101_173239.jpg

One difference between the two jars, was the greenness of the Ethanol compared to the Everclear. You would think that the Ethanol being a higher octane, that it would be a darker brown liquid like the Everclear straight from the jar, but as you can see from the pics, it came out filtered a more green colour, this as it was evaporated down to the four dropper bottles I use to store and meter out my chosen dose, became the brown coloured liquid I'm accustomed too. :)

20251101_173438.jpg

Next up, the Everclear jar. You can see the browner colour in the filter jar compared to the Ethanol based liquid.
20251101_174337.jpg

I wasn't put off by the colour, as I drop my green dragon into a cup of hot coffee, which cooks every thing and evaporates a fair bit of the alcohol off, if not all. Feed back from the guinea pigs said there was no difference in hit, and that the Ethanol had a cleaner less harsh taste when added to a good quality coffee, which I agree with. (y) From an evaporating point, the Ethanol evaporated twice as fast as the Everclear, which is a handy thing to know, don't know if it will help anyone, but if it speeds up the evaporating process, then its a good thing, (y) Further experimentation has been asked for by the guinea pigs, with the two jar experiment being run with the Do Si Do I grew with the Pineapple just to see if there is any difference. 🀣 I like folk that are keen. 😁 So I'll set up a couple of jars with the Do Si Do, jeeze I pamper my guinea pigs. I won't put it up on here as I think you have had enough of alcohol jars by now. 🀣 I don't know if these posts will help anyone other than the guinea pigs getting battered for free, or myself, but if it helps just one person who is on the edge of having to give up our beloved cannabis due to lung problems, then it is worth posting, and its an easy method with little or no out lay if you have jars laying about, and if you race cars, then you most likely have gallons of Ethanol sat in your garage. 🀣 So it looks like the Do Si Do is getting the dragon treatment next, and we'll see what the testers think of that.😁 I'm hoping to get a grow going soon, havn't a clue when. Cleaned out the grow room, got the seeds chosen, just need the time to fire it up. And that's where the cannabis world of Chemistry is at the moment, so until next time, just keep tokin folks. (y)

I follow along weekly. As I don’t have the fancy equipment some do pressing and dabs are out for me but new tumbler and your posts have offered new possibilities for me. 🍻

I built a keif tumbler from bits knocking around in my shed, used an old Mercades Benz windscreen motor to power it, I loved the hash I could produce from it, I even grew six old style indicas so I could make some really nice black hash. Thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings. (y)

No seeds, length of time it took to flower was a stoner mistake on my part, while cleaning my fan I knocked in four segments of my light timer right in the middle of twelve off, so this added a mass of time onto my flowering stage and confused the plants. 😁 Smells lovely, I think you'll enjoy it. πŸ‘
You will know nxt time when you see foxtailing and new growth happening.i hate those peg timers πŸ™‚.love the look of the do si dos .just beautiful mate..some nice coneheads too Chem 😁what you gonna run nxt…

Don't know what to run next Max, I want to run a Chocolate Skunk by zero zero, but its a really old seed, and there is only one left, so will it pop, the other three I keep changing my mind. Aurora Indica I want to pop, so just got to make my mind about the other two and I'm off. :)

I grew out aura indica on my very first grow and that got huuge..vegged it 8 weeks but.was a beautiful looking plant and great morphology and she wasn’t a light hugger πŸ˜€. Bandits growing the chocolate skunk I think..

The Aurora was the first plant I grew in a tent before I built the grow room, hoping this plant will be as good as that one. The choc skunk seed I have is over six years old, so may not pop, or my grow freaky, fingers crossed. (y) Could do with out another light hugger. 🀣

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this wet rainy morning, hope your all well. :) I didn't have a post for today, until I discovered a white pot, this is the white pot I kept all my home made hash in, and due to not being able to smoke it all before my lungs gave up, I had shelved it until I got cured, but as any one who follows my grow log knows, I didn't get to finish the job. πŸ™ Well, while having a tidy out I found the pot in amongst my hap hazard seed collection, Mmmm I thought as I popped the lid, and another experiment started to unfold. 😁 So what was inside the pot? Looked to be over a quarter of tumbled trykes ready to be molded into a nice hash, this was from the Amnesia Lemon I grew a while ago, which was a nice hit. πŸ‘

20251122_100523.jpg

A quick rifle through the pot revealed a sixteenth of fine black I had produced, can't remember when or what it plant it came from, so if anyone with a better memory than mine can remember, feel free to chip in. πŸ€”

20251122_100544.jpg

There's not enough black for me to do anything with, so its been given to a good buddy that's helped me out on a few jobs, enjoy bud. 🀘 On the scales with out the black, not the best of pics, there was 9.1 grams of unsorted hash discounting the bit of black.

20251122_100706.jpg

Back to the experiment. I decided to use a quarter of the unfinished hash to produce some green dragon for coffee use. πŸ‘
20251122_100848.jpg

So what do drop it into? Everclear or Ehanol? I went for Ethanol due to I have a near litre of it, and only 200ml of Everclear, yes I know, very scientific approach. 😁
20251122_101551.jpg

Added the Ethanol, not as much colour as I thought.
20251122_101654.jpg

So I gave it a shake, think I preferred the unshaken jar, good job it has a month in the fridge to sort its self out. 🀣
20251122_101755.jpg

So there you are ,what will happen to the quarter, will it melt into the alcohol, we will have to see over the next month, should be done three days before Christmas day, nice. 😊 Hope to get some seeds planted today, or maybe not, and as you all know, planting seeds is the easy part, but having the time over the next four months to grow them out is the hard part. 😊 Right, I'm off, chores to get on with, I'll keep shaking, you keep baking, and I'll post a couple of pics of the jar next week, until then, just keep tokin folks. πŸ‘

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this seriously dark rainy morning, hope your all well. :) Late writing this as I had to help out a buddy for a couple of hours this morning, so a little bit behind. :) Starting with the quarter of keif in the cold jar, its not a pretty sight, if it was a coffee some one had made for you, you would tip it into the nearest plant pot while nobody was looking, poor plant, perhaps that's why people that make crap or cheap coffee always have sick looking house plants, so if your house plants look ill, then treat your guests to better quality coffee. 😁 There is a silt in the bottom of the jar, so maybe dust from the shaking process or keif that's not broken down yet, time will tell. (y)

The Jar straight from the fridge.
20251129_094609.jpg

You can see the silt in the bottom of the jar.
20251129_094800.jpg

Only one thing to do, and that's give it a shake, you can now see that coffee in the house plant look about it. 😊
20251129_094816.jpg

On to some thing else. Finally got some seeds sorted out, and these are the seeds I'm going to run for this next grow. (y)
First up is the Aurora Indica from Nirvana, a nice all round smoke, good hit, nice taste if you toke it, an all time favourite of mine over the years, and if you've not ran it before, then give it a go. (y)
S0 (1).jpg

S0 (5).jpg

Chocolate Skunk is next in the line up, first grew this in 2019, so a bit of old seed. First grew it along side Moshman when we were on the farm, he grew the Autoflower version of it, and I grew the photo. :)
S0 (2).jpg

S0 (6).jpg

Gorilla Glue is my next choice, another legend that needs no introduction. πŸ‘Œ Think it was a freebee, or gifted by a buddy.🀘 I remember this strain when it was cutting only option, back in the days of Mr Tight, a major inspiration to a wave of new indoor growers, don't know if he's still growing, hope he's fit and still at it. :)
S0 (3).jpg

S0 (7).jpg

Sweet Valley Kush. This is another old seed of about the same age as the Choc Skunk, so may also bomb out. 🀞
S0 (4).jpg

S0 (8).jpg

So we are off, seeds planted, not all are of an age quality and may not pop, but it won't be the first time I had to add lib, and we know it won't be the last, because that's just how I grow. 😁 There are people a lot more dedicated than myself, but after the best part of 20 years posting online on various sites and forums, I now treat it as a bit of fun, done the technical, scientific, and a whole bunch of fads and theories in the past, still interested in new tech and forms of growing, but now I just grow to amuse my self using the plant it and hope method, and find it less of a stress and more enjoyable. :) That's where team Chemistry is at the minute, first gear, and on the move. 😁 So will the stuff in the jar melt away? Will any of these older seeds pop, or even the newer seeds, well, you'll just have to nip back next week and find out, until then, just keep tokin folks. (y)

Pretty sure chocolate skunk from that breeder was one of the first things I grew when I got back into it in 15, unfortunately I can't remember it, hope it pops!

It was very popular around then, zero zero had some good strains, I remember it being a nice toke, nice taste too, can't remember what it looked like flowered out, don't know if I've any pics, if I can find one I'll post it. Did you rate the plant?

Found this pic, not the best, think its 2019, as I only used the camera for grow pics to stop my phone getting sticky, so all the pics show a 2015 date stamp, may have been earlier.

I don't remember it at all if I'm honest, when I came back after quitting in 97 I was looking for real Skunk #1 which I had been growing previously, so I bought a lot of Skunk #1 and Skunk variants from various breeders and I'm pretty sure that was one of them

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this dull foggy December morning, hope your all well. :) Well, all the seeds have popped, even the Chocolate Skunk, which, as I said, I have no idea when I bought these seeds, they are old, so I'm impressed that it has popped, a very good start on this strain. πŸ‘ The other seeds have also popped and are pushing towards the sun. β˜€οΈ So all are off to a good start. The cold jar with the quarter of kief in it is still the same colour with the same amount of sediment in the bottom. I've attacked it twice with the coffee frother to stop it sticking to the bottom of the jar, don't know if this is better than stirring it the old fashioned way with a spoon, but if the tech is there, then we may as well use it. 😁 I'm not a big fan of rock wool, as it takes an age to compost, and as a gardener I like things that can be returned to the soil and vanish into nutrients, to feed either my outdoor garden or the local wildlife. πŸ‘Œ But I was given these by a buddy who had them kicking around his green house, so we are growing in rock cubes this run. I've found rockwool to be brilliant for cuttings, but no so good for seeds, as I've had seeds sprout and get tangled in the wool, to the detriment of the seedlings.

I like to start my seeds in a cloche, keeps them damp. πŸ‘ As you can see in the pic, the seeds are growing at a different rate to each other, the Aurora and Gorilla are the newest seeds of the four, in age, the Gorilla is the newest, followed by the Aurora, then the Sweet Valley Kush, and lastly the Chocolate Skunk, so we may have a seed age experiment to follow, some thing different I suppose. 😁 Granted, some people will have state of the art seed storage rooms, so their seeds won't suffer the same fate as mine, but I don't, mine are stored in a black tub with a plastic bag round it, and that is as high tech as I go. πŸ‘

The cloche. I was asked by a buddy why I grow in a vat of clay pellets. This is purely for drainage and to hold the pots upright when the plants become tree's. (y)

The Cold Jar. Not a lot to look at, still looks the same as last week, hope its a better hitter than a looker. 😁 This is the settled liquid. (y)
W3.jpg

The seedlings have popped, and the cold jar is still doing its thing in the fridge, two more weeks and I'll assemble the buddies (guinea pigs) for another testing session, and we will see how it turns out, don't you just love having willing buddies. 🀣 And that is what's happening in this patch of the world, for another update, and to find out which seedling is top dawg, you'll have to be here next Saturday to find out, until then, just keep tokin folks.(y)

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this cold but very sunny Saturday morning, hope your all well. 😎 The seedlings have gone on a growth spurt this week, so much so that they are have been planted into their permanent homes. The Chocolate Skunk has not grown any at all, don't think it will make it unless it starts to make some sort of leaf growth. πŸ™ The other three are doing really well and are on their way to becoming the tree's we all desire. 🀘 The Cold Jar has not changed since last week visually, still looks like a jar of stale coffee, 😁 So I won't bore you with another pic of it. 🀣 Next week will see the jar strained anyway, and that's its month in the fridge done, that went fast, looking forward to testing it, just in time for Christmas. :) Lets check out this weeks pics. :)

Chocolate Skunk. Doesn't look to have changed since last week, and definitely not keeping up with the other seedlings, the outlook is grim for this little popper. Don't know why its struggling, as normally if they pop the rock.

While I was giving the Cold Jar a shake, it struck me that the sediment in the bottom of the jar may not be trykes, and may be sediment from dust or powdered leaf, and might not dissolve even if left for another month. We will have a firckle round in the sievings next week and see, I don't expect sieved trykes to be pure trykes, as there must be dust molecules the same size as the trykes that will pass through the sieve, next week we will see, might even drag out the microscope and have a look at the debris if I have the time. πŸ§‘β€πŸ”¬ Short and sweet this week. πŸ™‚ If you fancy a firckle round in the sievings of the latest cold jar of green dragon currently living in my fridge, then you'll have to pop back next week and have a look. Also, will the Chocolate Skunk bring its self to push out a leaf, who knows, I will endeavour to bring you the answers. until then, just keep tokin folks. πŸ‘

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this dull foggy morning, hope your all well. :) This is the third week for the seedlings since they sprouted from seed, and on the whole they all look ok, apart from the Chocolate Skunk which has remained the same, not dead, but no further growth, I thought it would have produced a leaf by now, however minor, but no, not grown a millimetre in three weeks, still green though, so may still be in with a chance, you never know. :) The second struggler is the Sweet Valley Kush, still a bit squirrely, but it seems to be turning its self around. πŸ‘ The Aroura Indica and the Gorilla Glue are doing well, both seem strong seedlings, stronger than the other two from the older seed from 2019'ish. If I've learnt anything from this grow, its that my seeds only last a couple of years in my storage facility (black bag in a plastic container with snap on lid)😁 I've strained the Amnesia Lemon in the cold jar, came out a quite clear liquid compared to the past jars with the bud in it, maybe using just the trykes over the bud is a cleaner way to go about making green dragon, quite a bit more messing about the achieve the same result, is it worth it? If you suffer stomach upsets due to the green element, then I would say it is, but for me maybe not, unless its a better hit, then I'm all over it. 🀣 We will see. This weeks pics. πŸ™‚

20251220_085033.jpg

The liquid was a little bit murky after the sieve.
20251219_091623.jpg

So I left it for a hour to settle, much clearer, to the point where you can see through it. πŸ‘Œ
20251220_091641.jpg

And that is as far as I have got with the jar at the moment, I'll get the loupe or the microscope out and have a look at the dust from the sieve, just wondering what it consists of. πŸ§‘β€πŸ”¬ That's the plants and the jar updated. Will the Chocolate Skunk produce a leaf and strive to become a tree like its pot mates, I don't know, but I'll find out this week, and as soon as I do, I'll let you know. Got some buddies coming round to test the new jar of Amnesia Lemon this evening, so we'll find out if its any good buzz wise, got plenty of munchies in, and enough beer to float a medium sized boat. Want to know more, you know the score, until next week, just keep tokin folks. πŸ‘

How did the test go last night?

Test went well, really well, every one that took part were well and truly battered, my self included. 😁 The dragon was twice as strong as the bud made tincture, which was a bit of a shock, as I thought it would only be a shade more intoxicating than the bud, but it blew me away, in a nice way, couldn't stop eating. 🀣 I'm already wondering what half an ounce of hash will hit like, next time maybe. 🀣

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this cold rainy December morning, hope your all well. :) Did you all have a wonderful Christmas day with the ones you hold dear, and ate and drank to much, I hope so. πŸ‘ The plants are heading towards becoming trees, so next week we will stop calling them seedlings and head into week one of veg. πŸ‘ I have to say, I'm starting to lose faith in the Chocolate Skunk, as it just has not grown any at all, don't know why as I thought it had turned a corner, but no, its still the same size, good colour green, but still no leaves, can't see how it can survive much longer as a seed leaved sprout, surely it will die off at some stage, if I had another grow space I would throw it into flower just to see if it would go for it, but I don't so it could be on borrowed time, shame, as I was looking forward to growing this strain. πŸ™‚ The other three, Gorilla, Aurora, and the Kush are loving life, so not a total disaster. 😁 So lets look at the pics and see how last week panned out for these bud busters. 😊

The Aurora Indica. Could have done with a bit more care in this busy run up to Christmas, but it will get better. 😁

Sweet Valley Kush. Starting to throw off its squirrelyness. πŸ™‚
S4 (2).jpg

Gorilla Glue. Looking good.
S4 (4).jpg

Chocolate Skunk. Slightly behind the other seedlings, but still in with a shout, or a whisper. πŸ™‚
S4 (6).jpg

Other things. I managed to find time to get the microscope out, bought it cheap at a yard sale on a whim, its not top notch, and is not very powerful, but it does the job, after a fashion. 😁 So I put the sievings from the cold jar under it, and this is what we found. πŸ™‚ Took images at 10x, 20x, and 60x, no triches are visible in any of the images, so that means the alcohol did its job and dissolved all the triches, job done. All that's visible in the images is plant debris, bare in mind this debris is dust molecule sized particles, so the alcohol does its job very efficiently indeed, mini science lesson ended. πŸ‘

Next weeks update will see us enter the new year, so if you want to know if the Choc Skunk make it into 2026, then join us next week and find out, until then, just keep tokin folks. πŸ‘

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this chilly snowy morning, hope your all well. πŸ™‚ Plants are doing well, all except the Chocolate Skunk, I wondered how long it could feed on its seed leaves, and now we know. The seed leaves went yellow, and with no other leaves to support it, there was only one out come, deceased. More room for the other three to grow on I suppose. πŸ™‚ On to the three that are left, which are all going for it and looking green and mean, with no problems I can see, not to say there isn't one lurking there some were, just that I can't see it. 😁 I was looking at the Gorilla Glue which looks to have a massive lean towards a Sativa, and after looking at other past pics, which don't, I'm wondering if this is a potential light hugger, judging by the amount of Sativa in its make up, it might be a good idea to tune up the garden strimmer and sharpen the machete, or at least top it a couple of times, we'll find out in a couple of weeks when it goes for it. πŸ‘ The Aurora Indica is more of how it should be, indica. πŸ‘Œ The Sweet Valley Kush has a nice kush look about its leaves, so should grow into a nice plant. So it seems I have one of each this time around, a Sativa, Indica, and a Kush. I'm having a quite short veg period, can't see the point in vegging for a long period, as the plants become to big for my grow space, outdoors I would set them free, but indoors I don't have the luxury of a seven by seven foot space for each plant, so compact they have to be. πŸ™‚ Pics.

What a difference a week makes, compared to last week the plants have doubled in size, this means they should double again in the coming week. Feeding will be upped with a dash of calmag now the plants are making a dash for the sun, think they need it to keep them on point. And that is where my garden is at the moment, shame about the Choc Skunk, it made a nice plant the last time I grew them, a favourite even. Just goes to show, its a skill in its self storing your best seeds, one I don't seem to have mastered, so in future I'll just have to buy less seeds in, or grow faster and not hog my favourites, another lesson learnt in this vast discipline we call growing. No cliff hangers this week, only that I think the Gorilla is going to take over, quite fast. 😁 Until next week, just keep tokin folks. πŸ‘

Good morning tokers and growers, how are you all on this snowing at the minute, cold frosty snowy morning, hope your all well. πŸ™‚ Plants are getting a bit straggly, this week may see them get a slight trim round just to keep them in shape, or you know what happens, rain forest arrives in your grow room. 😊 The Sweet Valley Kush is the smallest of the three plants, followed by the Aurora Indica, and then the Gorilla Glue being the tallest, the Gorilla is definitely the biggest plant in the trio, and I think this will become a candidate for light hugger of this run, think I'll top this one with in an inch of its life due to its sativaness. 😁 All three plants are looking a nice green, with big leaves, so feeding must be ok, went a bit shady at first, just before Christmas, but it looks like we are back on form. πŸ‘ Pics.

Gorilla Glue. Middle shoot topped.

The Sweet Valley Kush. Also topped to encourage more branching, as it seems to want to grow only a single stem. Still a bit squirrely in its look.

Full team on display. You can see the size difference between them, the Gorilla is going to be a big monkey when it flowered out. 😁

And that's where we are here in my grow space, made a couple more jars from the Pineapple I grew last time, but I've documented that to death already, so no point in posting the results from that, again, think you've seen enough of jars. 🀣 So enjoy your weekend, what ever your up to, even if your snowed in. 🀣 Until next week, just keep tokin folks. πŸ‘
