A Turkey In The Hay 🦃

Speaking of deer.... 😕

I figured it would happen eventually it's almost happened three times before, but it happened Saturday

I hit a deer at highway speed, causing massive damage to the bumper, headlight, front quarter panel, both passenger side doors and rear panel also involved

Hunting season started that very morning, so not sure if it was being chased or where it came from, I never saw it before impact.

She hit my bumper so hard it swerved my car a little to the left, and then I started hearing car parts rubbing on my front tire, and air coming in the passenger door

I decided to try to make it home the last 4 miles. Although severe body damage the car was/is still drivable but I think I'm going to buy a truck with a big push bar because the friggin' deer are everywhere here and they come out of nowhere in a heartbeat, I almost hit an albino a couple months back and that wasn't the first time.

I'm just thankful to God it didn't come through the windshield and kill me because it was a big deer north of 200 lb.
I whack one the end of July, totaled my nice little 2013 Nissan, all paid for, all fixed up new tires, shock, windshield motor, wheel bearings and a fkin full tank of gas. Then with insurance coverage on a rental I had to buy another vehicle within 5 days of the accident or no more rental car...on their dime.

Sorry to hear that PC, glad you're ok. yeah my car is old too and there's a good chance it's going to be totaled

I don't want a new car with all that electronic crap in it, I know how to back up without a camera, but I think that's what's going to happen 😕

shiit ..no good mate.main thing your okay.over the years here they are breeding up and now encroaching towns and suburbs in my neck of the woods..problem is not enough shooters plus can only take one stag and a doe or 2 does.they are doing aerial shooting in some places using thermal imaging to get them under control.my brother hasn’t hit one but many kangaroos and they are just wrecking the front of his car.he was sick of it…he now has a 4wd with bullbar.still cant do much about them hitting the side of the vehicle though.his misses has like whistlers on the front grille of her 4wd to scare animals off..I beep the horn non stop going to his joint..
I'm on the same page Max, I'm likely going to get a 4×4 p/u truck with a big push bar on the front because they're everywhere up here, the abundance of game is why I moved here, for when these warmongers start the third world war I'll have fishing 150 yards in front of me and I can open my window and have venison for dinner.

I think I know what you mean about them running into you, this thing hit me like a linebacker, hit me so hard the front of my car swerved left

I have four of those whistlers on the front, so far I don't know if they really work, didn't help this time

Man bum deal hitting the deer.
I used to drive a larger pick up and only feared expense of incident.
Now I drive a smaller 4 cylinder ' mini van' to work and have a healthy respect for the dark.
No fan of Daylight savings time but man driving in the morning here was rough.
I feel your pain not wanting what is new in vehicles today.
Few understand completely what I don't want it means.
Most recent purchase was a 2000 Plymouth~! Newest vehicle is 2011~!

11/7/24

So this is now, still a little too damp to water, I'll get em' tonight at lights on

The mutant (back right) is coming around, as is that washed out one next to it (back left) with a twisty leaf and a brown spot, didn't know what was wrong with it but it had the same treatment as everything else, so I figured it would work itself out eventually.

This will be my fourth year heating with wood and my first year growing cannabis with wood heat.

The humidity drops to extremely low levels, I've had it as low as 11%, so while I'm not expecting to have to deal with septoria, WPM etc associated with high humidity it will be interesting to see what effect such low humidity has, I reckon the most noticeable effect will be more frequent watering

About to light the fire now, nothing like a wood fire! 😊

I split mine the first year and that was enough of that LOL I'm too old for that, so I've been buying it split

I go through about four and a half cords a season, got some black cherry in one delivery, saving it for the smoker!

What does cords mean..I go through bout 8 ton a year.

Haha..it’s knackers me too man.specially when you get a bit where a limb was thats hard to bust.I’ve had the block buster (axe) bounce off it and near hits me in the head 😂.I’m like .I ain’t doing this haha.

Here in Maine a cord of wood is 8 ft long × 4 ft high × 4 ft wide, and the splits are 16-in long

I still split a few here and there but yeah that's enough of that, I recently bought an electric splitter, haven't used it yet tho, maybe this weekend

Update: 11/11/24

Looking good, probably top soon
IMG_20241110_172006~2.jpg

Watered last night (or this morning) for the first time since transplanting w/ Masterblend @ 400 PPM / 6.8 pH

Been away a while but I remember I used to feed twice and then plain water flush on the 3rd watering and I would record the readings, so that's what I'm going to do now.

I grew in straight Pro-mix for a couple years so I'm not too worried about it, I'm more worried about what I'm hearing about Greenpoint seeds mutants and Hermes!?

I read that whole GPS thread over the weekend so I've been warned, and I'll keep an eye on the warning signs going forward

Next grow will probably be White Rhino, one of my favorite smokes, or maybe Exodus Cheese

Eventually I'm planning on growing more landraces, probably hash plants, if anyone has any land race recommendations I'd love to hear them!

Update:

1st Topping 11/14/24

These are some lack-luster genetics, there's only one that I would consider average at this point.

Next run I'm gonna give Heisenbeans a try if I can figure out how to order, cuz I don't use any of those cash app things.

Hey, You and I are on a similar schedule and in the same green pots too..lol... for some reason they are my favorite pots, even though there's only drainage holes on the bottom there's been something about them that has given me great starters plants to get into flower. I have a few lime green pots a bit smaller that don't seem to do as well, Maybe its the size but these 3/4 gal pots are great.

I just fed my 25 day old plants for the first time. I'm in Promix, Azomite,Gypsom, and Myco's mix in 50/50 ish Promix/perlite. If I'd have stayed in solo cups I'd of had to feed after about 10 days but after I transplanted they brightened up and didn't need any more liquid until I fed at 25 days. That's a bit longer than normal for me but that starter charge in the Promix is nice to count on.

I just took this, they are under an sf600 28 days old topped twice, all but the one that has leaves like a cabbage ...lol, she's only been topped once. I used far red on them for 1 week before I had to shut it off because of too much stretch

Those are way bigger than what I'm growing, what are they?

I had great luck with GPS back when they had their cowboy-theme line going few years back, but not impressed with these

I know they advertise here so I'm not trying to bag on them, but for me it's not working out

I'm going to let these finish cuz I've got a month into them but I'm going to go somewhere else on my next run

They are 3 Ice Cream cake and 3 All gas OG. They are taller I think because of 1 week far red were on for 15 min at lights out.new crop far red stretch 2.JPGnew crop far red stretch.JPG. There's one segment that stretched through that week that has given them the height.

You can bag on them.
Although he is truly advertising which we are working on he is not an endorsed breeder by any stretch here at Bud Builders.
Many here are growing GPS because we jumped all over his reverse auctions. Most agree he has issues with his genetics and many feel it is his timing and lack of a plan beside cross everything.
You know FAFO. No real breeding strategy beyond breed sell.
We got a whole thread for it.
Got to really wonder if you think Hiesenbeans [ is this his breeder/ partner?] could off better genetics.

you're not the only one that feels this way. newer crosses are less than spectacular and ones like texas butter were some of their best.

it's okay, you can be honest. greenpoint is not an approved vendor here at budbuilders. a few folks here grow them but no ties in any way.

trustworthy vendors will have this tag under their name:

I don’t think he advertised here with permission. I know he’s not endorsed.

A bunch of us just bought cheap seeds with high hopes. We got less than we paid for regardless the prices.

I was aware that Heisenbean worked for him at some point, but I thought he was out on his own?

This was taken a few minutes ago, I'm going to flip them as early as I can and finish them ASAP IMG_20241114_183615~2.jpg

What I really want to talk about is my new wood splitter, tried it out today for the first time, I think I'm in love! I'm officially retiring my maul!

they're getting along again and working together in Gu's new facility in florida. not sure if heisen is selling on his own or what their agreement is on that. don't really care either! HA!

I didn't know he wasn't a paid advertiser, in that case I think his genetics that I'm growing are weak, and I'm not buying anything from GPS again

I did read that whole GPS thread last weekend, and I'll be watching out for Hermes in bloom, but before I saw that I was already having trouble with them

I'm glad I didn't pay a lot for them, I reverse auctioned a couple of strains that sounded interesting, it's the waste of time that really pisses me off

welcome to the club! 😆

i've grown a lot of them and still have more to grow and will at some point, taking a break from them for a little while to compare. i never had herms that i saw but my last couple rounds have has some seeds! they wern't all GPS in those rounds so i can't say for sure since i never saw anything. i'm not taking a break because f that, i just feel some of the newer crosses from say 2023 on have felt watered down and not that punch of potency i had liked in previous crosses.

I'm glad I didn't pay a lot for them, I reverse auctioned a couple of strains that sounded interesting is all, it's the waste of time that really pisses me off

that is the attraction and the marketing sale that got them on the map, i expect to see even more attractive sales from them as the newer crosses come out, not sure how many of the genetics are the same cuts but i sure hope they cleaned the residual pollen out from their fan blades because that how most of the purple punch crosses felt to me.

I am in same boat also.
My plan is grow only a few GPS at a time so I don't lose all if all hell breaks loose and can keep track of them.

That makes sense, I hope you have the best of luck with it cuz there's definitely some good in there with the bad

Myself I'm not growing anymore GPS, I got a hankering for White Rhino, that's one of my favorites, also thinking of some Exodus Cheese, another fave haven't had in a while

Thinking of doing a couple of each side by side because they're both shorties and have similar growth patterns

Now that I think of it I've got some Romberry seeds from the years I kept that running, that's an honest smoke too, maybe I'll see if I can't crack some of those next up

Plants looked much better today but I can't get up to get a picture right now!😓

Too sore from 2 days of splitting wood, I've been dragging the biggest chunks over trying to get rid of a big pile of 'too big to burn' pieces I've accrued over the three years I've been here, perhaps a bit too ambitious, but it's so much fun!

The pile was taller than the stacks when I started, now it's half what's in the picture ☺️

Today will be spent lying flat on my back, only getting up to take occasional bong rips 🥱😴IMG_20241114_125218_01.jpg
