Awesome man! Didn't know you were close to there, the wife and i visited two years ago. We went there and to Sequoia Park, we liked the latter more as it was much less crowded. Both beautiful
 
My eastern residence (GF’s home) is close to Sonora, Ca. We can drive to Yosemite in a couple hours. Sequoia and Kings are a few more hours south of that for us, but the only time we were both ready to go, we couldn’t for some reason that my stoner brain cannot recall any longer.

I want to go to Death Valley and Mt. Whitney too. All in my backyard and I’ve never been. But I did eat mushrooms in Joshua Tree at sunset (back in the 70s), so I’ve been around! Heh!

For some reason, that was the most memorable sunset of my entire life! Honest engine!
 
Fucking positive for lyme disease... I don't know how, but that's what the tests show. Got me on new antibiotics and already feeling much better, crazy. Ain't been hiking all year, haven't had a visible tick on me in years, just crazy. No bullseye rash, no visible tick or bite, crazy

Wow I don't think I would have guessed that.
I got a couple buddies that have had Lyme [always from ticks for them] and it took them almost a miracle to be diagnosed.
Hate to say that here in NY it is not that rare and major reason I stopped growing in the woods or walking/hiking on some of my favorite trails.
I hope the antibiotics work for you and you end up with minimal or no lasting effects.

wow man!! glad they at least got it diagnosed!!! like Steam says, hope ya don't get any weird flare ups later!!!

my neighbor just had a fat bullseye last year.. he's over 70 in great shape and thank goodness it worked for him. he was feeling back to himself in less than two weeks. hope you have the same luck man!!!!

My Dr told me when I was tested that even a positive test doesn't mean you have lyme disease. I was sick as a dog, no bullseye either. I live in down town tick central fkers are everywhere. You may need to be retested as the test can give false positives. Were you tested close to the hospital where the tests get done? if not the travel time between taking the sample and having it tested can effect the results. My Dr said to get my tests in the hospital or testing facility. We have satellite offices where they take samples then hours later get them to the testing facility. In most cases its fine but some tests are time sensitive and delays can effect the tests

Thank you everyone. Just talked to Doctor this morning about the blot test results, yep 100 positive, and it shows it's new, not old. Fucking crazy, i am baffled on when and where i got bit.

Yes, I'm super thankful it got diagnosed, as the lyme test was a hail Mary, added at the last minute to a round of other tests. Doctor says since we got it right at onset, i shouldn't have any life long symptoms after antibiotics.

On a positive note i did see Bush in concert yesterday, amazing! And this band I've never seen, Mammoth who really shredded it

Definitely positive, yes you are right the first test is not conclusive, but the follow up test, the Western blot is. Which i just got results yesterday. It's a weird one but doctor says 💯 Lyme's. It was done at a hospital.

That's a tough one then, I was getting these re occurring illnesses every 6 months or so. I got antibiotics each time but I was tested negative even though I had a similar illness, its been about 1.5 years now so what ever. I keep expecting another bout any time now the last one kicked the shit out of me, I think that's when aging happens each time we get so sick it makes our bodies older... faster.

Man this medicine is fucking me up, just looked up side effects.. I'm having all of them, will except for yeast infections lol, but i get it, no pain no gain. My throat was crazy painful last night, now i see i have to remain upright after taking it for some time.

I hear a lot of complaining about electric prices also yet my cable bill beats my electric bill by $75 each month.
US has to get its shit together and focus on real issues.
Got decent temps here finally just seems like it might rain 4 out of 5 days this week~!

I'm getting there! Side effects from New medicine aren't hitting me as hard anymore. Still a night fever, hoping will clear up this week. Appetite came back, thank God. Doctor recommended some probiotics, something I've never taken, to help counter the Antibiotics ruining my gut, and they seem to be helping.

I Been meaning to threaten my Internet company with leaving, i hate my bill... Used to be $60 for same exact service two years ago, now 120... They got the monopoly where i live so it's hard to threaten them with switching to shitty DSL or something, they know they got me.

Just Internet, i own my own modem, and fucking 120 for cable Internet, no other services. But i have zero options for anything else decent

They do that hear too. It’s been down to Bell and Rogers for years.

Rogers is the big cable company here. They made a deal with Shaw many years ago. They swapped customers. Rogers got all the inner city GTA customers and Shaw got all the external customers. Bell has no real competition other than Rogers. Neither cares if you leave as they swap customers constantly.

Hate that shit, only the new customers get good deals, they have Comcast/Xfinity here. And you don't count as new unless you haven't had service in over a year. Keep waiting for fios to reach our street just so i can have a bargaining chip

Man i have to eat my own words... On a whim i started a text chat with an Xfinity agent. They said, what is your question with your bill? Cause i had to pick something from the options.

I said no question, I'm tired of my bill.

Somehow it was very easy... I'm kind blown away.

Went from $123 after taxes for 1 gig down to $85 for 1 gig, PLUS Hulu, Disney, and peacock included. I'm price locked in for 5 years and without a contract. I can quit anytime no exit fee, that's crazy, no automatic price hike in 2 years, crazy

It's not as cheap as i want to pay but much better than before, plus i get to cancel my hulu I'm paying separate for and now we have Disney which we didn't have.

Opinions??

i pay more for less... i think my internet is $80 and i pay $33 for hbo/hulu/disney.. and i pay peacock $2 ... i'm at your old price for all that.

Fuck that's probably what they wanted to charge me at first if i was renting their equipment. I swear buying your own modem pays for itself in under a year, and I've had mine for 7 years. Only advice is to do plenty of research on what is your providers approved whitelist of modems and to get the highest docsis version you can afford to help future proof the purchase. I prefer separate modem and router, but that's just cause I'm a tech guy and this gives me the most control over settings.

Just my two cents, i hate throwing money away, and this has saved me hundreds over the years.

They rape us because of location and theyre the only provider.

I tried DSL once years ago, abysmal slow speeds, maybe fast enough to steam movies on one device, that's it lol 😂 😂 maybe it's a little better than that but it's terrible

Never tried satellite, but i can't imagine the downgrade after being used to cable speeds

I nearly went to work for Racal-Vadic in 1985, they were big in everything from 1200kbaud to 19.2k
I can remember hooking up 4, 8, 12 and 16 port Micom multiplexers to 9600k modems, those were usually dedicated lines, but in the old days it was common to do a dialup for the mux too!
 
i wanna look into the 5g internet, i saw somebody that had one and his speeds were better than mine. the cable hub is just down the road and every time my power goes out so does my internet. for now i hot spot my phone but it would be nice to cut the cable...

my cable company charges me an extra $10 for internet just because i won't bundle phone and cable.. i'd love to tell them to get jacked while i get ripped off by some other company.

I once worked for my hometown's first local dialup ISP, which was based at a military highschool academy. Boy was that a trip, helping people configure all the settings to connect, we've got it made now.

What i miss most about those days are my local BBS sessions. Oh man that was cool. Just a free local call, 25 dialup nodes and 10 telnet nodes, which was also hosted at the academy. One bolt of lightning at 1.21 gigawatts to the telephone line was enough to fry it all and was never replaced as there was no profit in a free BBS.

My uncle tried the 5g with Verizon and it totally sucked, even in a huge city with plenty of towers.

Closer to DSL speeds if i remember right. Is your Internet plan 200mbps? You are right in the middle of 5g speedsScreenshot_20260414-153553.png

It's crazy so i don't really need 1 gig speeds but the next lowest tier is 500 for only $5 less, so i just stuck with 1 gig. I don't online game anymore, but that speed is nice when downloading huge torrents.

FYI if your 5g signal isn't great your speeds will suffer big time. Not everyone knows that there are external antennas that can help, especially if the signal is better higher up or whatever.

This is one is $90, I'm not really sure which ones are best, but they could be the difference of a great speed and a turtle's pace. You will need a 5g modem that has external connections to connect.Screenshot_20260414-200732.png

i looked into those type antenna before. ya gotta watch which ones ya get not all of them work with all providers.. there are separate bands for att and version and so on.. i don't even know who i have. i think i piggyback sprint network?? we have boost mobile.. $50 for two phones.

and to double the signal it steals half the bandwidth.. not a very good trade off.
