Hey, did ya ever watch the movie “Sandlot”?

Yeah, I was one of those kids growing up. There were about 3 or 4 years where we got into more devilment than you can ever imagine. It’s amazing none of us ended up on the evening news!
 
Missed early flight due to staff shortage at baggage check. No one to check baggage while we watched the plane for an hour before it took off...
Was so mad..
Customer service said that even though the flight was delayed 2 hours we were supposed to be here 2 hours before the original departure because the baggage check closed 3 hours before the delayed departure. Ah... Got a new flight today, and $200 in vouchers for my inconvenience. Frontier.... Never again.

On positive note, should be in Denver by 4pm

I’m in and out this week. Two things, prepping to make redbud jelly and breaking in a new barrel. I need at least 200 rounds through her so she settles before load development. All of this to be done before a big team match April 12th. Gonna run a 100 rounds today, then work up three loads and run a hundred more day after tomorrow. It will take me a full day to reload the hundred I’m going to shoot today.
So, I’m around at strange times..
Now, let’s smoke one before I head off to the range!

I don't mean to pry into your expenses but isn't 100 bullets expensive, I've seen stuff where they talk 1-2-5-10 100$ p[er shot, Not that 100$ for a days hobby, play is expensive, shit it cost that + balls & funny shirts to golf a lot of places. I know less than zero about guns other than call of duty and a couple shot gun blast and a BB gun once that's about it.

It depends on a lot of things. Caliber, what it’s made for, if it’s store bought.

CG reloads so she’s saving her brass casings. (They will be fire firmed to her chamber for a perfect fit and no pressure loss) Buys her favourite projectiles in the weight she likes, in the materials she likes. Then picks the best powder for her needs and new primers.

Over all iirc it’s about 1/3 or less the cost to make your own over store bought of the same quality. But it’s still an expensive hobby for sure.

I normally break things in with surplus on a fun shooting day out and use better grade for hunting or targets, but her caliber isn’t a standard one used for war. Much more expensive.

These bullets I shot today will be retired and a hundred new ones in their place. I have been shooting the same brass for over two years. You also have to remember, we reload. So, brass, bullets and primers. The brass runs 125.00 a hundred. I have been shooting that for the past two years. The bullets are 45.00 to 60.00 per hundred, So basically 25.00 per match and the primers are a 100.00 per thousand, so about 5.00 in cost per match. Eight lb jug of powder runs 360.00- 400.00 depending on brand. It will run 1800 to 2000 bullets. So, round 5.00 per match. So a match, which is two twenty round relays plus sighters, round 5-7 (sighters)for me. It would cost me 35-40.00, if I did not have sponsors. They give me free stuff to wear their shirts and use their products at shoots. Bullet companies, barrel companies, stock companies and optical companies.
Cheaper than fishing or drinking..

Most all of that is completely correct! 🥰 Cept store bought loads. I have only seen one match won with store bought loads. They just are not precise enough for long range shooting. One thing when you’re trying to take down large game at 250 yards, whole new ballgame to hit a three inch bullseye at 600 yards. This 6mm is a precision tool and it takes precision loading and some damn good Indica to pull that off! lol

Ya, that's pretty good compared to other sports and activities. I wasn't sure what they cost I've seen YT stuff where they talk big money for firing some guns. A machine gun clip, there goes a couple hundred dollars fast, looks like fun but up here we'd be in jail just asking. Bullets for my AK please?

Hey, not sure if you've been involved in playing with the color spectrum's in your grows. I've been playing with Far reds and I just bought a pair of Blue 44nm booster lights. I want to limit the amount of stretching the reds give me and blues are supposed to help with that. Now that I have them up and on, they both have dimmers and I'm lost on how to utilize these new lights.

In using my Far reds for just 15 min at lights out I get all the stretching and widening of the leaves I want in just over a 1 week period. When and where would I utilize the blues? On at same time as reds? no, that's not right. All day after the reds? 15 min through the day? its like a math problem. As is I have them on for now 4 weeks into flower, on with regular lighting.

Tomorrow I'll be 4 weeks into flower and stretching should be just about over so I intend on using the far reds again at lights out for 15 min because I like what it does to the color and over all health look of my plants. It will also help enlarge my buds, maybe at the expense of density although it didn't seem to hurt my last runs buds.

Any who that's my life's story...lol....as I smoke and write......have you any experience with adjusting the colors in your growing?Mar 26 blues on 2.JPG

I’ve never manipulated color with lights, but I have with temps. I had one crop that never got above 72*, it was without a doubt the most colorful crop I have ever grown.

It was an example to compare prices. As was surplus ammo. I’ve heard some hunt with surplus up here, it’s legal, but not how I was taught/raised. FMJ is designed to wound and make/take other soldiers out of action to help the wounded. Not a human round.

Most ammunition for sale up here is either cheaper for plinking or more high end for searious hunting.

Average box of twenty rounds used to be $25 for lower to medium quality like Lokt. But can double that or more for “better” quality. It would most likely improve my shot at longer distances but do nothing for you compared to your reloads.

Yep. Don’t think I’ve even tried further than 300m. Not many places I could go shoot with that long or clear an area to shoot. Even dads farm has to many hills.

All firearms are tools. Yours is just more specialized. Surgical in comparison to hunting rifles.

These are all general comparisons, exceptions happen. I’ve seen a rifle bought from a hunting store shoot with almost laser accuracy with regular rounds. Repeatedly. But suck with most others. Just a fluke and luck of the draw. Yours you dial in and any flukes are usually fliers.

I don’t belittle your equipment or abilities, I doubt I could do it these days. Takes a lot of time and effort to keep up that skill.

At one time we could buy AK’s. I have an SKS. Fun and cheap. Surplus ammo as cheap but you had to watch for Brandon(?) primers. They have salts that cause rust if not cleaned asap. Tula ammo is a Russian bimetal projectile and metal casing that’s still sold here. Not overly popular as it’s harder on firearms than brass and copper.

A couple of years before the war most stores ran out of Russian surplus. I think we know why now.

Very accurate hunting rifles are made by CZ including in 7.62x39.

I too, am at this cross road. I just invested in two HLG UVA 30s and two California Lightworks Solarsystem UVB.

Now... I would like to invest in the Red and Far Red (IR) wavelengths. In an effort to improve the quality.

It's all for home consumption, so yields are not important, or at least fall into the not as important category. I want quality! Best taste, best vape and best high. Great colors and all are part of the fun for me. I actually have fun growing.

So, new things are fun. But, wasted money sucks. So I am usually last to sign on, after it's proven. I know, scared...ehhh. I am just not interested in losses. I scrapped synthetic very quickly, because of its wasteful methodology and harm to the planet.

Jumped right into organic, and Bokashi, and super soil. Made my own super soil and never looked back. I'm interested in living soil next. Sure, I still have lots to learn and much room for improvement. But, for me...I am on the right track.

Now, for lighting...I am very excited to try some new things like...wavelengths and supplemental lighting.

Great post Pipecarver. Would think this would make a great thread for all to discuss and share experiences and knowledge. Thanks for posting. I did read a post here, about this very thing. I can't remember who posted it. I think I replied with "crop steering", or something. It was a great post for sure.

Yesterday was round one to break in a new barrel. Normally it takes a couple hundred rounds to break in a new barrel. The speeds etc will continue to change until the barrel settles in. When you can bring out a new barrel and within the first thirty shots pull this off..Im sold..it’s Krieger brand barrels all the way for me. Shot S1 was a sighter shot,meaning it shows me what I need to dial into the bull and would not be counted as score in a competition. Shot 15, I missed a mirage shift.

Although some of this maybe strain related the reds have certainly enhanced my plants growth.

Does anyone else use them on a regular basis? I'd be interested in your hrs of use, do you use them full time or 15 min at lights out and? on?

Assuming another day you get the same results it saves you a lot of time. Always nice to have luck on your side.

Do you have a few different loads you make? Different weights or powder?

She leveled up on shot thirty and repeated them results through the next seventy. But, she’s still speeding up.
Yes indeed, I load rounds at different powder weights and then test for the best waterline minus vertical and horizontal spread. Then I run with the one that groups the tightest. Seems this barrel like the last grooves on 33.1 grains.
 
Lucky as usual TGIF rolled into one, we escaped. Some existing wall cracks re-appeared -- nothing threatening. When I called my wife on her wireline phone from my.own the call went through. I was swimming, didnt feel a thing. We don't have FEMA level response teams here, lots of people sleeping on the street in a city with 12 million folks. Good thing they are getting scarcer; Mother Earth continues to warn us, and she's batting last. I knew my Granny wouldn't fergit, appreciate that😅🥰🤩

As long as its not politics I think the odd rant is accepted. Been there done that. I smoke 10-20 to get over it, when that doesn't work I smoke 10-20 more then there's the next day. Its no wonder I go through so much weed. I don't know how those that don't smoke can handle it......Yesterday on a drive into our gym it was either crap music or a political talk show. After 5 min listening to the talk show I wanted another smoke and turned off the radio. I said to my wife that's it no more TV/ radio, social media, time to move into the woods and live like hermits. Fk the world I want off.....Well that won't work I like Pizza....I guess we're stuck in the loop, pass the papers please.

I’ve been causing guys problems on the range for a long time. It was a bit tougher for me as a Woman when I first started, but I will tell you I earned that respect. I can tell you that the guys on the range treat me like gold, and they enjoy telling new men that might be a bit biased..she’s the one you gotta whip! Lol. If anyone treated me ugly at any of the ranges that I competition shoot at, you would have to whip at least forty men! I have a blast with them. Literally lol.
I am on top of politics. I also see that constantly watching that shit is enough to make one’s mind sick. So I do it in small doses. For the most part about 15 mins a day, I know what’s going on and I’m not consuming the brainwashing koolaid. I’m about facts, and proof.
By the way, I love men. I find them quite interesting and they do cool stuff! Women wanna shop, have their hair done, get pedicures and manicures. I can do my own damn hair and nails and still enjoy the fun of hanging with men.
I actually am the only female on this forum! I can’t figure out if it’s the guys scaring them off..or me! lol.
