First Sativa Grow - Panama - BudBuilders

Short update on the Panama. She has been doing just OK mostly because my time has been so limited lately. I wanted to do some work on her today but ran out of time, going to take care of this one tomorrow with a new metal trellis, gonna push this gal down as far as I can, maybe even top the livin crap outta her, got reign this gal in. Been dealing with a bit of deficiencies and bumped ppms up today, will evaluate this tomorrow but I think it will be a good move.

Then I am going to wrestle her down and get her ready to flip.IMG_3166.jpegIMG_3167.jpegIMG_3168.jpeg

First time I smoked PR was in Costa Rica. I was staying at a small resort on the east coast of CR and the owner invited my exwife and I up to his loft. We smoked some of his PR. From what I remember it had heavy sativa qualities.

I'm pretty sure the owner was trying to bang my ex. 🤣 He kept sending his assistant to our cabina to see if we needed anything. I think he was trying to find my ex alone to try and convince her to go see the owner for whatever BS reason.🤣

Did you get this cultivar from a clone or seeds? If seeds where did you buy them? I liked the PR.

Started from seed from Ace Seeds. I had to have a friend from Spain get them for me and then send them my way.

Are you planning on seeding them anytime soon?😉
Not sure what you mean by this bro. This plant is from the pack I got from Spain last year.

I did not get in yesterday but did everything today. I made my metal trellis and installed it and treated it like a scrog, pushed this gal down low and pulled everything horizontal. Not the ideal CannaGranny scrog, but I am borrowing some of her techniques. This plant had been topped twice and LST outward early on but then I did not do much with it until today.

I am still seeing some deficiencies but a little puzzled with some other signs of excess. I'm thinking I'm a bit out of balance on nitrogen and calmag (short) and been running fairly low ppms in the res. Breeder says this strain is a heavy feeder so thinking I'm going to test that out, this plant looks hungry to me.

Gonna change out the res with early bloom ratios and flip this gal very soon but want to see her in a bit better shape.

Oh ok, gotcha. Yes they are feminized and I did not have any plans to make seeds. I still have some GDP pollen, you might be giving me ideas.

I've been getting more into the idea of finding a couple nice females and reversing one onto the other, sounds like a fun project. Finding a bad ass male or two is real appealing as well no lie.

I'm hoping to find a nice girl out of that aether x gdp. I'm going to clone the females and keep them going until the smoke report can come in on them....then make my selection based on that...hopefully something crucial pops out...will send you a clone or cut back 💯 if I find some magic. Taking my time getting to the seeds tho, trying to figure out an arrangement to keep the males as well...

Not a lot to report today other than she still seems a bit hungry, running around 700 ppm and pH has been super stable after a few days of steady rise, it's settled down and staying pretty constant. I flipped to 12/12 on the first of the month, not sure how long it will take this gal to start showing blossoms but we'll be watching.

Proud of @MrsSweetLeaf, who is getting the hang of things while I am out of town. It's helped a lot that I seem to be finding my stride with the help I got from @Anthem275 and using the pH/EC imbalance chart. All three of our grows are now dialed in, EC staying constant, plants drinking a lot, and pH stable or a very slight rise.

This has been a ground breaking discovery for me in my hydro training so I wanted to give a big thanks for your help with this Anthem! Also thanks to @smoke and @Moe.Red who also helped me figure this out. I did not realize how significant a difference it is when you have an auto top of vs. topping off every day. I was trying to combine both styles of growing and also making some other over feeding errors. I think these have all been corrected and I may be graduating to 200 level classes now 👨‍🏫IMG_3184.jpegIMG_3185.jpegIMG_3186.jpegIMG_3187.jpeg

Looking good Mrs. SLG!!!😁

This plant is starting to scare me 😨 Flipped to flower almost a week ago and she is still throwing nearly symmetrical nodes and I am wondering just how much this gal is going to be stretching. I'm ready to do some super mainlining if needed when I start running out of HEADROOM!

I've got to find some time to get in there today and do some de-branching and defoliation but mainly I am trying to figure out the balance in the water. I bumped ppms up to around 700 previously and she did not respond in the water like I had hoped, ph diving hard on me. I've since brought ppms down to 575 and still fighting the diving ph, although it does seem to be slowing down a bit on the ph dive.

The dilemma I am facing is the water seems to indicate I have an imbalance of too much nutrients, yet I am seeing a lot of paleness in the growth. I have learned that that paleness is not always a sign of deficiency so I am thinking this is a genetic trait like the Mendel strains where they were very pale in veg. Everything, I think anyway, looks great otherwise, some good growth, praying fans and fairly healthy looking overall cept'n the paleness. The main stem reminds me of a tree trunk, will have to get a photo of that.

I am thinking I might dilute the res down again to get in that 500 ppm range and see how the water is behaving at that time.

Are you using silica?

Are you using silica?

I did during veg and have tapered off with using the Agsil during flower. I have, however, had to use it sparingly for a pH adjuster for the past week because I am almost out of PH Up, got some ordered but its slow getting here.

The Moonglow I harvested a month ago was the same. It was just inherently yellow. I upped cal/mag and it greened up some.
Thanks Roots, I'm almost positive it's genetics like your Moonglow. The Mendel strains did the same thing but fooled me once, tryin not to get fooled again. I'm pretty certain I have plenty of cal/mag in the water so gonna watch and see. Those fans seem to green up once they get more mature.

FWIW, so far today the pH seems to be stabilizing with ppms at 575, will know more when I get home from work tonight.

Been a week or so since I updated the Mrs's Sativa grow, things are nervously cruising along. I've got the water dialed in pretty good across the board in all 3 of our grows so the only thing that is making me freak out a bit is I am quickly running out of headroom. I raised the light as far as it will go and if she stops stretching, things will be fine, but I am not confident about that. It's been a full 3 weeks since flip and she is FINALLY showing pistils. If she keeps stretching Imma gonna have to mainline those branches horizontal and see what happens!

Been keeping air moving and pulling larger fans and other branching that won't make the canopy.

New territory here with a Sativa grow so we shall see.IMG_3300.jpegIMG_3301.jpegIMG_3302.jpegIMG_3303.jpegIMG_3304.jpeg

Is this with the spider farmer?
Actually, this is under the first light I ever bought and it's a MarsHydro. I thought it would have went out before now but it keeps working. I think I've done 5 or 6 grows with this light, mostly when I was in soil.

This plant is rockin it! Too much actually and I've found myself in a dilemma and Imma bettin ya'all are going to be laughin it up at my expense 😆 Go for it, I deserve it!

As feared, I've run out of headroom with this sativa. Almost a month into flower and she is still stretchin, flowers are starting to be more pronounced but it appears this gal is far from done on the vertical side of things.

Advice from anyone facing this situation???

Gonna give it a few, but my plan, unless someone has a better idea, is to go in and mainline those tallest branches 90 degrees horizontal and see if I can reign this gal in. Gotta do some more defoliation at that time too but my main concern is the height and getting that under control to finish this gal out.IMG_3343.jpegIMG_3344.jpegIMG_3345.jpegIMG_3346.jpegIMG_3347.jpeg

This was going to be my recommendation. But seems @Moe.Red beat me to it lol.
Id try to get them about 18" from the light if at all possible.

I’d run another net over bud with bigger squares so you can get in down easier.pinch squash about 20mm of the stem.take your time.get it at 90 and tie it to the net .I’m just thinking if you don’t use a net I’m uncertain if the plant will b able to hold its own weight once the buds fatten up and branches will lean over..maybe.if any branches split just wrap some tape around the wound..masking tape will work ..that’s my bet.

She will be pointed back up by tomorrow~! ;)
May want to think about tying her down a little also.
I break em and they are upright the next day and almost as tall again within the week.
Just more tops~!!!👊
