Tempting to enjoy now but I'm playing the long game and will age the hash after a small sampling to gauge the next direction of adjustment

Wont find a washer like this anywhere!
1-36 volt brushed motor for any speed needed forward and reverse and a power supply to feed it.
5 gallon bucket wrapped in frozen gel packs works like a frozen crucible inside the Yeti 45 tank keeping the ice longer for complete extractions.
200 micron bag inside, drains thru a series of sifting racks
3D printed vortex mixer inside pretty much creates a near freezing watery tornado inside the bucket

I actually think that with a few changes and a good fitting bag, your vortex compost tea brewer would make an excellent extractor.
There's so really wild similarities between making tea and making hash. They're both forms of extraction and lines blur often between the two.
A high psi air powered vortex is ideal but a motor and propeller is a decent option if air power can't be done.

And now that you have a 3D printer you can revisit this design and totally improve it!

I'd ditch the ice cream mixer and go with something like what's in the bottom of a washing machine that will create a vortex or tornado of water inside the washing bag.
You don't want the paddle beating the shit out of the material and instead have the material swirling around and rubbing up against the bag and removing the trichs.
Very much like a tumbler but way more gentle not shredding trichs and leaves more plant material behind inside the bag rather than letting it slip past the sieve.
I'm still working on my perfected mixer but I think it's getting very close..I found a transparent bucket which has made testing it out a little easier being able to kinda see how the action is happening inside..



This one is super close but could be about 2" longer down inside the bucket....



This is the one that finished up today for the next round and I think this is it.
More long than wide and still keeps a good helix. Gotta sand it and clean it up to get it ready. May also dip my propellers in polyurethane as well.
It's kind of a weird fit to find the right fit between depth of the propeller and water level because when this thing gets spinning and making that tornado, the walls of the water rise and can easily rise above the rim of the bucket and spill over so then the water level needs to drop and slow the rpm down to find the sweet spot.

Burning down a chunk of hash in the Ispire Daab erig at 500 but as low as 430-450 is probably better.
Not like wax dabs at all. More heavy hitting potent. 2-3 hits is all it takes. And stay away from heavy machinery

The flower smoke report is exactly what I fell in love with so long ago. Genuine over ripe strawberry flavor mixed with a spice and massive lung expansion hence the cough.
The first strain I smoked that actually matched it's given name other than skunk.
Extremely potent at 4-5 hits before I set the doob down for a break. Very loud and got a compliment from the mail lady since my front door was open when she dropped off my mail.
PITA to grow because the pheno seems to only come up at a rate of 1 in 5 for me. So it's a journey of growing four shitty plants to get one amazing specimen. If you're a connoisseur, it's worth it. If you're looking for yield and a payday, look elsewhere.


We should all be investing in the digital Stoney Scope 4200. Scoping for ripeness is nice and all but it's almost a must have in the extraction game if you want to get to know your extract on a near molecular level

Hot smash test prints because if there's one thing I know about squishin' flower, it's never a one size fits all operation and repeating the same thing and expecting different results is probably the worst road to go down on a new strain.
Test prints have to be done long before a production ran can be made so that means testing different temps and checking color, checking flow between different bags, adjusting material pressure and whether or not a bag is even needed.
If a bag is needed should it go pillow style, bottle tech, or chottle tech? All of this plays a factor and it's like putting a puzzle together. It's not ez or fast and takes a ton of patience. Usually, more than anything, the humidity and stickiness of the weed plays the biggest factor in type of bag.







My stack of test prints is getting to be the size of a small town's phonebook. Gonna combine all of it and roll it up to burn




When I do use bags, it's Gutenberg.
Gutenberg has all the tutorial on how to use their gear in their blogs so I'm not gonna explain all that here.
It's pretty much a right tool for the job thing when it comes to bags. Choose the wrong one and you're fucked. Choose correctly and you'll love what they do




I have a nice press but it doesn't make anything that much easier.
It keeps me in the right lane but make no mistake there will always be an art, an intensity and finesse to it guided by aroma.
At the end of the day, a good 5 ton press with a pressure gauge and a "feel" for it is all you need. All this shit is just a fancy stopwatch & thermostat really

As I try my best make Frenchy style hash but modernized I've kind of reinvented the bubble bag by using dry sifter trays and a 3D printed adapter.






top tray is the dumpster. This stuff has some value but it's not gonna make good hash.
Scrape it all up, let it dry, and add it to the rolling tray or top some bong bowls with it but in the end it may be garbage so that's why I call that tray the dumpster




Next tray down is treasure






3rd tray is the full melt gold.

I think I'm at around 1/3rd where I want this project. I've left a ton of yield in the water and bucket but the vortex extraction might be the best I've had the pleasure to use.

Very thorough and that's what I like most.




I think I will need to use bags though because the trays are way too small and take forever to drain and reveal the treasure inside.
But I am close or at least on the right road. Just not at that final destination I want to be at yet.



Gonna talk up some grow stuff in this thread too...mainly hilite stuff on my radar.
12/12 from seed is something I'm very interested in and I'm taking lessons from a master grower how to do it. Her name is Mother Nature. Some may have heard of her IDK.
She's taken some castoffs from last year's breeding project with zero human interference and is showing me what's possible under very adverse conditions.






This old dog might be learning a new trick because my tail is wagging!
I look at this and think about what could happen in a controlled environment dialed in like a sumbitch and using hydroponics.
Will need to make my own seeds which is already in the works anyways but I'm thinking one plant per square foot, 12/12 from seed, cola only production, cut away side branching if it happens.

Finally settled on a name..Trash Panda. Ethos Wrank X Vietnamese Bao Lac weeping willow




Xtra sticky so it requires special tools and going commando on the plates







Testing out some new Katbrite at the same time. My regular source of paper has vaporized so I'm shopping around.
I went conservative at 800 material but I actually ran up around 920-950 and was very comfortable I wasn't blowing it.
Going gentle and not dropping the hammer all at once, it might be able to handle up 1500 psi.
All other settings were about as good as can be. Not too warm to scorch and not too cool to leave anything behind for a naked puck



Thought I had a shitty yield but it came out almost transparent





After collecting it got some color and the yield looked a lot better.
A little corrupted since I went bagless so there's the tradeoff when dealing with super sticky weed...get some minor corruption or lose yield to the bag. I'm greedy so I take the yield and go bagless then just hope my erigs can handle it

It depends from run to run but I'm not a fan of fresh frozen due to the warm climate and space I use. I cannot hold the cold as well as is needed even with a Yeti and sonic ice for that to get a good haul from it so it's very ez to gum up and trap the extract in a sieve.

I prefer to dry then freeze or cut fresh and freeze then freeze dry it after it's been flash frozen.
Cut and dried requires all the same thing as fresh frozen but with a little more room for error however it's very ez to over extract and get too much clutter in with the oil.

Cut fresh then freeze dried and kept frozen all the way thru extraction is ideal for me and I really like the results from that but the yield off freeze drying is cut by about 1/3rd compared to normal. The plus side to that though is a natural dewaxing often times so it can yield shatter or crumble without needing to be winterized.

Ahh I see. Yeah that makes sense. I try to only make hash on cold days and I could see trying to make it when it’s warm would be a no go. I’ll probably just stick to dry unless I have a cold room to make it in.
