Hawk moths are so cool.
We get them hear and call them hummingbird moths.
Looking for the hummingbirds anytime now.

Is it cicadas that come out once every x amount of years and make a high pitched shrieking noise that's loud as + they hatch by the millions?

Im curious if it's the mass or the noise of them that's the biggest problem?

two different, overlapping populations. One comes out every 17 years, the other every 22. This year they overlap in a large area of the eastern third of the US and Canada. They are annoyingly loud, I don't know if they are destructive, but I'd expect them to be much like grasshoppers

yep, and from what i read this year is gonna be a doozie too... multiple species emerging at once!! the brood XIX and brood XIII.

i embrace the noise, the mess and destruction to young trees is my grief. my chickens luv em though!!! free food!

I get them in my yard. Used to come up every 5-10 years but it’s been back to back the last few years.

We have pine trees which they seem to like climbing. Lots of husks clinging to it last year. But they climb anything.

Noise isn’t that bad, in the city anyway. Reminds me of being up north.
