Yea I usually grow in Stonington soil. Trying out the Castine raised bed soil now.
Hoping these will go outside probably in large pots.
I like being able to move them around into the sun better as the season advances.
May dig a hole for a couple?

Happy Saturday~!
The foam is blocking light to 2 Sirius Black tops/clones . None of the tops are thrilled with lights at 50% but the SB are the softest. I think they are 'ok'?

I started with moist soil and now only bottom water everyday leaving a little to help.


Some of them on the left side are getting close to 4' from the ground counting bucket.
Seeing some nice growth after topping and alternating branching is taking over. Yea I am still one of those guys that likes mature girls~!

4 Fruity freaks and 2 Canna Fun coming up.
Hoping for 100% but 1 of each looks suspect.
The 4 FF were the worst seeds of the pack, so it looks good for the remaining 5.

Going to keep on vegging a little longer but it is getting crowded already.
RH is no longer low with the larger buckets.
Tent is ready to accept the clones and seedlings if I want them to get their own space.
I haven't labeled any they are just next to their mom and it is easy to water them how they are.
If these work out I will have decided that the best way for me to clone is just cut and place in soil under the mom.
It seems for me the light that far above and indirect shade of the mom seem to really help?
Should know soon enough.
Have no clue what to do with all these if they make it.
20 moms 2 runts and seedlings are really more than enough.
I just hope I don't get carried away. Laugh but it has happened before~!

I said my seeds seemed pale in color and kind of small.
Besides the 2 freebies the 4FF were the worst looking seeds sent.
They hit the VG Monday night and are all showing today.

Sweet! Sounds like this will be a super convenient way to clone. Mommas raising their daughters up right.

I keep resisting the ACI evo 3.
It fits the footprint I have and lighting footprint I want.
I won't be surprised if two arrive before this grow is over.

Those diodes sound good Upgraded 301H

The H is for horticulture and includes a anti-sulfur coating, or some kind of protective coating, that large scale growers may use sulfur, and can corrode led fixtures.

I recently learned having the diodes a little spaced out from eachother, the heat is significantly reduced increasing longevity of the fixture/diodes.

Based off thermal imaging of fixtures that have diodes closer together, and ones that are more spaced out.

I could try and find the source information


So now I'm looking/considering that variable when I also consider buying new lights.

I said my seeds seemed pale in color and kind of small.

6/6 are active and alive here. Tails are going down and head is coming up. Helmets are still on and they're not showing yet so another day or two in the VG should do the trick.

4 of 4 Fruity Freaks and 1 of 2 Cannabliss went in solo cups tonight with the Castine raised bed soil and perlite.
The second Cannabliss never completely split open so I tossed it in soil but expect nothing. I'll give it a week.They were the freebies so 50% is still free~!
It really looks like all the tops will become rooted clones.
Kind of shocked how easily and quickly they adapted.

Weekend check in.
Going to probably flip tomorrow 6/1. Easy for my twisted brain to remember maybe.
Possibly have this group done by early August~!
Going to need to use tent for the clones which means I need to label them all.
Yea it looks like all have made it with little effort on my part. Not one loss~!
It really could not have been easier; top the plant, dip cutting, place in solo cup, bottom water.
Never had easier or healthier clones before.

They got cut 13 days ago. Looks like they made it?
Room is a little crowded.

Have only just watered first time since up pot.
Gave a light amount of just water and will feed tomorrow with more water.
Feel exhausted after watering them all. Going to need the help of the Blumats I think.
Yesterday they looked and tested good but tonight there were 4 showing signs of water stress.
As much as I like it I like to control it and not be surprised by it.
4 freak seedlings will also need to go in tent before outdoors.
If it is nice out tomorrow might get the 2 runts outside and into larger pots.

Top seedling is the lone Cannabliss.

Your set up was already pretty sweet. Seems even better, now. The way you're cloning makes all kinds of sense. Especially, since they are proving to be healthy.

Because of you, I've had Blumats watering houseplants in a a little back porch/sunroom for a little while, now. I love them. Way too easy once I got the valves dialed in.

Got the room venting sealed up and ready for CO2~!
I had a flexy hose going from one end to the other years ago but it filled with condensation in the winter.
I then pitched 6 inch sheet metal pipe duct but never completed the loop from one end to the other.
Today I completed the loop with a custom drain/weep to catch condensation if needed.

I drilled a 1/2 inch hole in the coffee container to allow all water to drain into the 22g rubbermaid under it.
Now air exits one side of room through ceiling and travels above the room in 6inch pipe to end of room and then drops and turns to return on opposite end of room.
We'll see if this helps anything moving forward. In the winter it will be free cooling for just a fan, not so sure what I get besides circulation in the summer.

Removed the smallest freak as it was not doing well. To be fair and accurate I picked the 4 worst freak seeds so I am pleased with the three that are up and feel they will grow just fine at their own pace.

Going to be getting the CO2 going soon just got to fill the bottles to get going.

Thanks for the replies. I'm the same, on a much smaller scale. I'll have more than I need, unless some real disaster strikes. I think that's why I don't mind getting in there bending and sometimes breaking stuff. I can afford to lose, as long as I learn something.

More questions on the CO2, if you get time to share your thoughts. I haven't done a deep dive on learning about CO2. It's supposed to enable your plants make use of higher intensity lighting, right? Are there other benefits.

As far as doing things right: We can always learn and improve. I'm thinking this batch of cloning you did is a perfect example of that. It would be interesting to see what your first ever grow Steamroller would think if he could look and see how you're doing things now. Humility is a measure of good character, but, to a wide-eyed noob, you're a wizard.

I always enjoy looking at photos of your grow room. Are you still using blumats? They have so many options. I'm curious if you use carrots or drip rings or...? If carrots, do you need more than one per bucket?

Just trying to learn something, here: In the 5th photo, are the plants asking for more water or maybe lights just came on? Could be camera angle, but I thought I observed a little droop in some plants. I have an outdoor plant in a grow bag that dries out quicker than the ones in the ground. She gets droopy when I'm late watering her. I also see the outside plants perk up with the early sun. I haven't been seeing the indoor plants soon after lights on to make a comparison.

It would be so nice to have a buddy nearby with your kind of experience. It would be sweet to see and learn in person. This site is amazing for all of the varied input. Still, firsthand experience (with the right grower) could add another level of learning. My wife accuses me of dreaming too much, lol. She's not wrong. Wish in one hand and sh_t in the other...

I got them 12/12 6pm till 6 am and have been working 5 am till 1pm.
Doesn't sound hard to get out there at 630pm but those pictures were this am at 3:30 when I was up before work~!
Glad I went out when I did.
Being only week 2 I do really need to get the blu mats in. 1 carrot has always worked for me in 5g buckets.
I have and will attached 12 inch drip rings once the carrot is adjusted correctly.
Scheduling that has been the issue.
I set the carrot to add just enough to keep from drooping and then still mix the feed and water but the soil is always a little more constant.
All the carrots have been soaking I just need to get soil correct and install/monitor them.

Thanks for the response. I have blumats watering houseplants in a sun room. They have impressed the heck out of me and made life a lot easier. I'd never heard of them until I saw you post about using them. Just took a little tweaking to get the knobs adjusted right. The biggest pot is probably only 1.5 gallons, but it has about a 4' tall silver sword growing in it. I put one of the longer carrots in that one. I think I have 6 other plants tied in with that one, but a single one of my indoor cannabis plant drinks more than all of them combined. I was wondering how a single carrot could keep up with cannabis. I see where they sell the carrots pre-tuned with a dial for more/less water, now.

I'm running late getting home in the evenings, too. Plus, I have a long list of things I want to work on that's dwarfed by the longer list of things I need to work on. I'd still be looking for ideas to make life easier (even if I was all caught up and just lazing around all day).

So expecting rain today figured it was the best day to get clones up potted and outdoors.
I mixed last years Stonington from the 3 large pots with old manure in a bag I had to fill bottom half and then topped them all off with the raised bed mix.
Here is the graduating class;


2 Sirius Black
3 Fruity Freaks 1 of which looks promising.
2 Grape Diamonds
2 Purple Cherry Punch
1 Black Cherry Bliss
3 OG Tropicana
1 mystery of course.
If I can find or get 1 or 3 more pots I will bring out 1 more PCP and 2 more BCB.
Going to get 1 more BCB at least anyways.
I got all 4 of the Candy Store still in tent still individually labeled so I can work the best after harvesting the room if I feel so inclined.
The candy store have looked the worst in the tent like they are drowning in bone dry soil sometimes and looking good other times?

Again more than I originally planned.
I need to practice better maff.
