Zen Garden 2025

awesome!!!!!! i mean that why we do all the scale stuff to make it look real!!!
To be fair I didn’t have my glasses on. I didn’t see a plate so put them on. That’s when I had the duh moment. The trailer hitch looks wrong so gave it away.

Change that a bit and put a plate on and it’s good to go. 🤣👍

While I had a minute to think about it I noticed that the test tube stand looked about the same size as a Kleenex tissue box.

When I placed it on top it looks like it would fit inside. If I remember correctly some people buy display boxes or cases to hide them. Dollar store might have something. 🤔

Pretty sure a lunch box, especially a soft one, would fit as well. That would give room to put packaged seeds as well.

20250112: Seedling Day 10 & 04

Got tired of waiting for the remaining seeds. Opened up the VG. Nothing wrong or off but no tails either. Nothing was soft and only one cracked under my thumb. Tossed and picked new seeds.

Just to make a change I’m doing shot glasses with half water half H2O2. Then onto the heat pad with a box cover.

Took some fun pics before switching to the box.

Small seedling is trying to get out its first set of real leaves. Bigger ones a bit fugly. I misted both a couple days ago with H2O2.

Wife and son decided we need two Dummy 13 for each tent. I’ve agreed only if that’s it. No more. Stop animating is a pita. Lol
But I have a few ideas for when the plants get big. 🤔

Hey, seeds should be in the dark while in the water. At least that's something I read years ago and have stuck with it, same as in the sealed container, I have mine in a sealed box in my veg tent to keep warm but in the dark.

No worries. I put a box over them with the far corner up a few millimeters. I just take it off to check or take a pic. That’s why they are tight together. Box is a few pics up.

Temperature is around 78f at 9am.

Edit: This is at lights out ATM but the box stays on unless I’m checking for tails. IMG_2458.jpeg

Still waiting on the seeds. All sunk when I added a bit more water with a syringe but only one stayed down. We’ll look at planting tonight after lights on. IMG_2463.jpeg

The newest seedling is looking good. Out of danger I think. Older ones fine other than peroxide stains. IMG_2464.jpeg

It’s time to feed them tonight. The heat pad really adds to the trays evaporation.

Feed Mix:
.30ml 4:0:0
.70ml 2:2:4
500ml water
Which is a little less than the chart notes.

Never shared nutes with seedlings at different stages. Debating if it’s better to syringe feed the bigger one and water the tray or just use the feed mix to water the tray?

Any advice or opinions welcome.

Hey, What soil are you in? In Promix/peat based mixes I don't feed for almost 1 month. I transplant after 10 days -2 weeks into 1 gal pots they get a fresh wash of a starter charge in the soil when I saturate during transplant. The day of this pic was my first feed at 28 days old with the fkin

When I do start feeding I'm at 3/3/3/3/5/ 1/2tsp ml/gal Micro/Grow/Bloom/Diamond Nectar/Peroxide/Epsom salts

Older version of Sunshine Mix #4. It’s just peat, perlite and Dolomite lime iirc.

I wait until I get a second set of true leaves then start watching for any yellow or deficiencies. I used to use water bottles and then red cups with clear inside to germinate but these new containers are much smaller so I’m learning again.

I can’t see the roots this way and it’s really made it hard to know when to feed. But I should be able to read the plants by now, you’d think.

I’m still using the chart for the KIND Trio nutrients. I just cut them back when I can. They were discontinued here so I’ll have to change once I run out. I bought enough on sale to get threw at least this year.

You use GH don’t you? I almost went with them until I saw mine on sale for $25 for three one litre bottles, regular was $75+.

It sounds like you think we should wait a bit longer before feeding the bigger plant. It’s about two weeks old. It’s a little fugly but no yellow yet so we’ll go water again and save the feeding for later.

I’ll talk it over with my son tonight and see how he wants to proceed. I want him thinking about things and making the choices, not just following orders/directions.

Thanks PC.

Just an update on the Lobo vape that replaced our Utillian.

It’s been over a year, more like 18 months, and we still like it. It’s draw with the included glass is okay but with the longer straw or the bubbler it’s much nicer.

It’s used daily at 390* for 4 minutes including 30 second warmups. It’s our go to device as we don’t smoke flower in the house.

We get at least 5 sessions out of each usb-c charge. But I have other 18650 batteries I can swap in. I use the capsules so clean up is easy. ISO wipe for the oven, some times for real sticky capsules, then a cloth which cleans the rest. Capsules I usually do with a pick over a container to dump later. In true slacker form I usually clean them in a group and just keep changing them out. We have 13. lol

I’ve read about and experienced a charging issue. In my experience when the device is colder than 19* it fails to switch over to charge mode unless you push it in and pull it out a few times. If warm it’s never a issue. I don’t recall when this started. 🥴

Cleaning the glass, screen and bubbler is all done in a Mason jar of ISO over night. A cheat I do for cleaning the screen each session is to push a paper towel against it which absorbs most of the resin while things are still hot and runny. A lot collects at the bottom of the straw over time as well. Just pull it out and wipe it off. Running it under hot water will extend its use as well. Obviously how often it needs to be deep cleaned will depend on use.

For the money we all agree it’s been a good purchase and still performs well, has good taste, is easy to clean and has been reliable up to this point.
