20250331: Flip Day 12/12 All plants.

Things have filled out okay. Would have liked a bit more but with this weather I’ll take what I can get.

Today was a good day for environment.

Lights out

Hoping the stretch fills things in, we have some tucking to do tomorrow as it is. I like to feed them first.

Feeding every other day for the most part.

Storm only caused the chimney to leak a bit. No where near as bad as in the past. Guessing some of my efforts have helped. Need to get that bottom aluminum siding off this spring. Without damaging it. 🤔

Buddy in Barrie had a lots of ice damage in the area. Lots of broken branches and downed trees. Power was out between 3-5 hours for him but much longer for the other side of town.

Mom had to use her generator for the first time. Powers out until Thursday, they say now. Rivers not rising so that’s good. About 25mm-30mm of ice everywhere. Again lots of downed trees and power lines.

Daughter and Pipecarver are probably still getting hit by it. Hope everyone gets through with as little damage as possible. Get gas for your generators people. Moms almost out and lineups are long. Neighbours are in the same boat so they are making plans.

ahhhh yeah!!! bring on the buds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i just flipped too man, we'll be close on the harvest!!! Moe too i think he flipped this past weekend!!!

buildin' buds baby!!!!! so what veggies you starting inside this year?

I’m hoping the warmer weather gives things a boost again. -2* today and supposed to be 18* tomorrow. 😳

Excellent. I’m thinking end of May or mid June harvest. Things have been a little off this grow.

🍻 you bet!

I had them out today ready to pick what I wanted and let the wife choose the rest. (Pill bottles are home made seeds.)IMG_3413.jpeg
IMG_3409.jpeg

Then I got a text at 1:36pm from my son to look out the window. IMG_3411.jpeg

I put the seeds away until mid April. I can take a hint Mother Nature. 🫣

I’ll post the list when I try again. But; Beefsteak and cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and a few peppers are for sure. Thinking lettuce and spinach too.

I’ve been looking for a better easier way to clean capsules and screens. Recently I shared a tea ball idea that works okay. But I really want a barbercide jar.

We like different cheeses in salads and things so my wife found this precubed Greek cheese. She thought I might like the container when it was empty. She was right!
IMG_3422.jpegIMG_3423.jpeg

I’ll still keep an eye out for a barbercide jar so I can use it on scissors but this is great. Just wish I could remove the advertising but it is what it is.

Humidity is usually in the 60% until lights on and I open the door a bit. Then it’s around 35-40 the last week.

IMG_3466.jpeg
Both got a trim on Saturday. Hard to tell but both had a lot removed. I’m still not sure if this small zone will flower well. It’s got a 220w & 110w I’ve set by feel.

The clone is in the back ATM and the bushy one was the last seedling. Definitely leaning Indica. Some of the fan leaves I trimmed off the bottom nodes were bigger than my hands, very wide fingers.

When properly watered they look great. Unfortunately he keeps putting it off, even after I warn him. IMO it’s effecting the stretch and stressing them. This is the third time since flip. He has rolling hours that are rarely the same week to week with random days off but he still needs to plan ahead. He chose drinking and the movies with the guys Friday night. Didn’t feed the plants until after 1am. Then had to work at 11am, with his first hangover. 😈

He’s off today so we’ll see if he can get things sorted.

Your plants look nice, nice large green healthy leaves. I'm not a big defoliator I don't even like the word it has led new growers to drastic measures. I'm use more of a selective approach, pick the big large ones covering bud sites but if my RH is good and they are not blocking growth I like to leave my solar panels on. Dr. Bruce B says light that hits the floor is wasted light, I selectively remove with that in mind

Kids today and their priorities..right? When I was their age I was all into smoking pot, drinking beer. Then waking up milking the cows before walking 5 miles up hill to school at 5am with a hangover....but we were tough back then. No after school daycare, fk no they gave us lawn darts and said go have fun.....

I never thought I'd get this old, never planed on it and I'm a bit in shock I made it this far, so is everyone that knows me...I think learning to dodge lawn darts at an early age kept me on my toes and help with the longevity

You have to remember pipe in our day having kids was legal slavery. No free rides you had chores to do and you did them if not one crack of the horse whip on the legs and they were done on a very regular time as directed. No such thing as schools closed because of weather the bus didnt show up you walked.

Growing up in the great Vancouver area I can honestly say I never had a snow day off going to school. We walked on the rare days it did snow, we walked if it didn't snow. I remember getting the day off when Kennedy was shot in grade 4 other than that there was none I can remember.

I still experiment. But for the most part I try to open things up for air circulation and letting light through to lower bud sites. Under the net I sometimes Lollipop.

Sons trying to do it. Not always easy.

We had unsupervised lawn dart games as well. Don’t think we actually used the round hoop as a target.

I’ve found most of the kids his age act like 16-18 rather than the 23-26 they actually are. My daughter is seven years older and grew up faster, but still slower than when I was their age.

Neither did it. Live fast, die young, leave a good looking corpse. 🤣

Biggest life change after 45-50 is the constant and growing pain(s).

Getting out of bed is much harder and wakes more pain than I ever expected. Knees, back, neck…list just keeps growing. 🤣

We walked to school. No buses. Older you got the further the schools. We got snow days only if the snow was deep and staff couldn’t get in. It used to snow on Halloween once in a while. Now it might snow in late December.

Every kid had chores. Cleaning your room came before breakfast. Then you had the yard work, laundry or general home maintenance.

We all had to eat the same meals at the same times at the same dinner table. No devices or tv on during dinner either.

My folks would have a fit watching us eat dinner with the TV on. It was always a treat when they went out and left us TV diners to eat. It says it right on the package TV then they got us TV trays...oh I could see heaven. TV while dinning??

Fk my wife and I would have to talk to one another at dinner...and she's 3/4 deaf.....Whats that dear??? eh...speak up....Nope Youtube it is...........

Youtube is TV now, without cable its all there is other than movies and sht. Through the computer input Youtube is commercial free, no ads. Through the TV smart apps input its not watchable because of all the ads. Even Amazon movies that is supposed to have ads doesn't because I won't update my TV, I get a warning before I start a amazon prime my TV is not compatible with programing and might not function as it should please update for best viewing quality. Then everything works fine, the quality is good and there's no more warnings ....and no commercials....lol

I don’t think I’ve flowered in the side zone before. 🤔

More snow and -5 at the moment. What the fudge happened to spring?

Its that global warming we keep being banged over the head about changing its mind......That or Trump waving his hand and pushing clouds away from his golf games in our direction.

👎 More snow

👍 Nice work on the SCROG

😎 All the plants are looking happy
Cool, thanks.

❓ Do you normally move to where the two SCROGs are? Planning something different, this time?

Yes, I usually up pot to a 3 gallon pot and then move to either of the 3x3 zones/sections. Sons doing the SCROGs so needed both 3x3s. I showed him how to clone and popped another seed so we had backups. We are only allowed 4 plants.

Both tents are 3 in 1. I modified both to be more practical. One can now germinate and do a short veg while the other is now 3x1x6. I hope to flower the two in there now all the way. I do open the door for them a while each day. Let them get a little space.

Since my son is just learning I used my original strains seeds. Still have 300 or more seeds. After this run I was going to try one of the prizes from POTM.

20250410: Flower Day 10

My side zone is doing better than I thought. One plant might be showing early signs of tip burn on the sides of the top leaves but it could also be a trick of the lights. One’s a 110w while the other is a 220w. After the pics I swapped their positions. Temps are still low on this side low as 16* at lights out, as high as 28* lights on. RH can be 30%-75%. I’ve been leaving the top of the door open lights on and venting extra heat/humidity.

The shorter plant took off. The other hadn’t recovered from the HST last week.

Zen 2: Better yet.
IMG_3525.jpegIMG_3524.jpeg

Fugly is looking real good. Lots of promise. Only two bud sites didn’t reach past the net…yet.

Stretch is doing it’s thing with all the plants. Week two still has 4 days to go. With the cold I wasn’t expecting the side zone to stretch as much. Hope week three leaves us room. SCROGs can stretch away. Plenty of room and yo-yos for backup.

Sons taking things more seriously. Was up at 7am to feed before lights out. Wasn’t dry enough at lights on.

He’s having trouble tucking and we didn’t do a final topping before the net got dropped. One SCROG is filling in nicely. The others more a trellis ATM.

Colours look good but man are some of these leaves very thin fingered.

I think the stretch will carry over to week three. The cold seems to have slowed it but every warm up they shoot up a few centimetres.

In my 1x3x6 zone the one plant is fantastic. The other is a clone and doing good. Had to bend over the three branches that stretched too fast. Let the rest catch up a bit.

Current feeding:
9ml 4:0:0 Base
4ml 2:2:4 Grow
8ml 0:6:6 Bloom
2.5ml 2:0:0 ProCal

So 8:8:10 total

Some don't stop stretching for 4 weeks. it was 5 before I felt comfortable putting my Far reds on again. I'm going to switch reds on with the lights on to reds on at lights out for 15 min and switch on the new blues lights during lights on....Just playing. Though is to stretch the buds with the reds then tighten with blues....Not sure about this brain fart but wtf I got nothin better do do....and I bought blue lights for some reason....$300. tax and all they better be good for something.....eh.....

That’s cool. I’m always changing things too. Sometimes out of necessity, sometimes curious or bored. 🤣

I try to see if light distance and/or intensity can control hight and node spacing. I mostly do that in the 3x1 sections. Topping is done for extra growth and to slow things when other ideas fail.

20250411:

My favourite plant that I trained perfectly to grow in the 3x1x6 is actually a male. 😳

Showed his balls in all his glory yesterday at lights on. @Pipecarver i miss my eyes too brother. Your not the only one to have trouble seeing things. At least you missed nanners and not a full blown male. 🤦

G$ and Stonemason suggested I seed a plant, make Z-Weed F2’s as it’s a good looking male. But I have no where to let it finish.

The HB males I put on the main floor bay window, but that was last fall. Right now daylight lasts about 13.5 hours and gets longer every day. So that’s not going to work.

Both tents are being used and I don’t like the male in the same room as the females anyway. As they say nature finds a way.

So the axe it is this weekend. 🤔

I miss my eyes. Wonder how Cannagranny keeps hers. I used to love iron sights. Now it’s scopes all the way.

I was just watching some guy on the tubes talking about that. How keeping the plants closer to the lights through stretching will limit the stretching. I've just gone by lux. turning the lights power up to reach my lux. I should be dropping my light to reach my Lux so the plants don't stretch for it....or says says the guy....lol...all I can do is try it and see if it works.

I think the stretch will carry over to week three.
Move the light closer then

I see a lot of talk about too much stretch during flower, but no one moves the light closer? Or turns the intensity up if it's not maxed.

Elongation is due to several factors, but wanting more light and spectrum ratio are the most impacting variables, imo.

I’ve been doing it for a while. Only way I could keep plants smaller in the side zones. Only down side is it really stacks the node tight together.

If you notice I have two lights in the side zone that flowers. Helps me control things better with two or three plants.

Ones only 110w it’s maxed out atm.

You haven’t been following then. I only just raised the one light.

Node spacing is the only issue that becomes a problem when I do that. Okay, sometimes a little burn too. 🤣

After chewing on a few ideas I’ll stick the male in the main floor sun room. Shouldn’t get below 14*-16* night or day. I’ll just put an open garbage bag underneath it in case it opens early.

AI agreed that since its already flowering I have a 50/50 chance it won’t reveg. (No actual percentage was given.)

I think that far into flower that male has already popped some stuff. The little yellow flowers that first appear have dust. I hope you got your male out in time, us males like to pollinate, specially when we are young,...... virgin buds???? I shiver thinking about it.....lol

They all shot out in a 24hr period. Broke my heart. 😔

I have a green garbage bag under the tray in the bay window. Southern exposure. I’ve already shaken the colas before my shower to check for pollen.

When ready I’ll do the same as I did with the Haunted Banana and bring my female upstairs. Then trim a branch with pollen and rub it over a few lower branches.

Spray bottle with water and a couple plastic baggies and it’s done. I hope.

Having the wife’s family over again for Easter long weekend, including my buddy.

Give away a few more ounces when they’re here. Need to make room for the new harvest anyway.

Plants aren’t looking too bad all things considered. The male is still the best looking but I’ve started chopping off branches. Only going to leave one or two colas to rub on the last free range female. (The male is sitting on an open garbage bag. First sign of pollen the sides come up and it goes outside to the stoop. I’ll bring the female outside and rub a few lower branches before putting it back. Spray bottle of water will be used and plastic baggies.)

Started filling my garden VG but my son asked why I wasn’t using the germination trays. IDK, so now I’ve filled both with tomatoes and peppers. Couple of Teddy Bear Sunflowers and Hollyhocks too.

Wifey was supposed to make new seeds from last year’s harvest. She forgot so I had to rush and get them ready.

These are Thai Peppers, Cayenne Peppers, TB Sunflower, English Cucumber and Pickling Cucumber seeds.
IMG_3585.jpegIMG_3587.jpeg

Had to rehydrate the Pickling Cucumber to try and get seeds today. Wifey let it turn into a mummy. It’s on the left side of the plate in the pic.

Asshat director failed to follow through again. Had trouble falling to sleep after months of pretty good nights.

Since before Christmas I’ve been trying to join my wife so 9:30pm it’s tv in bed up by 5:30am when she leaves for work.

I’m not a morning person but I can get up early. Going to bed early is the hard part.

I've never been an early riser, except when I was young and going to play hockey Sat morning at 5am and walk about 3km to the rink with our gear. I couldn't sleep at night so anxious to play, free skate started at 6 -6:30 then we'd wait until our game time anywhere up to 9am with quick skates between ice cleanings for different teams......Other than that I like to sleep and its been a long time since I got up to play hockey.

Same here. Warm up on the outdoor rink if you had time then head inside the indoor for the game. Mom didn’t have a car and you had to walk halfway for public transportation anyway.

Other than that I like to sleep and its been a long time since I got up to play hockey.
Yeah I don’t play anymore, rarely even watch it.

I’ll still get up early for day trips like shooting, fishing, visit family in the countryside. Archery was fun and the public range not too far away but you had to get there early if you wanted a parking spot and more privet session.

How long before you get the e-bike out? Where did you keep the battery, did you trickle charge it over the winter?

Final trim this weekend. Nothing heavy. 3x1 is a bit of a hot mess. The male was the one I trained well. The remaining plant is a clone of the Zen 1 plant. It was originally just meant to be a backup.

He’s gotten much better with feeding but shift work and personal time still interfere. He’s learned to premix the nutrients and warn/ask if I’m able to check them for him.
