Scotty's 2nd Run

Yeah that's basically what I need. The good thing is once I get one I can just reuse the stuff I got to set this one up. But again someone dropped a free mini fridge off at my work & so I decided to experiment.
I dried my last run in a whine cooler it turned out good.i just didn't like the humidity swinging from 40 to 70 every time the compressor kicked on.i will let you know how this new deal works im gona harvest In about a week.

So I have a vacation coming up, we'll be gone for a week so there's no way my plants are going to make it until we get back without water. I could possibly get someone to water for me but my usual go to (my brother, who also grows) is going on the trip with us. On top of that the plants generally take me about 2-3 hours to water & it could need to be done twice while I'm gone so I really feel bad asking anybody to do all of that. So I started looking at alternatives. I actually made my existing stand/water trays into auto pots, which did actually work, but at best it's going to buy me another day or two, in order for them to last as long as I need I would have to have a massive reservoir under each plant.

As I was scouring Amazon for a solution I came across a Vivosun drip irrigation system for pretty cheap, looked like it might fit the bill so I ordered it. It actually worked OK, but the way it's set up the emitters have to be set up 4 at a time & in order to get anywhere close to the full pot watered they recommend 2 emitters per pot which can't be worked out with my 5 plants. So I decided to reinvent their system. I found a drip emitter fitting kit, 1/4" hose & some 5/8' to 1/4" taps on Amazon & went to improving. So I basically have like $70 in this thing & I have been pretty impressed with how it works. Even when I'm here I can set it up on a timer to run for a certain time period & can go & do other things while the plants water themselves. I should have done this months ago.

Here's a list of what I have in the project if anyone wants to try to replicate. You could also skip the Vivosun kit & just add some 5/16" hose & a pump. I will say the pump is tiny & doesn't deliver much pressure but for a drip application with at least 10 sites it seems to work well enough.

Very cool.
I used Blumats for my vacation and hooked them up for full time use on last grow [just finished].
Very similar to what you got but they run on/off by how dry the pot is.
I'll use them again.
I use a Rubbermaid Brute 32g for my res.

Just realized I haven't updated with plant pics in quite a while. We're exactly 4 weeks from switch to 12:12. I think from now on I'm going to wait a bit longer after flipping to flower before I start the next round of seeds. I waited 3 weeks this time & I've been fighting height for the entire grow. At this point the two plants in the back have forced me to hang the lights directly on the tent poles & the front right is about needing the same, but it's sharing a light with the one short bushy plant. Due to my vacation I'll be starting the next round as soon as I get back which will put me at about 6 weeks. Probably longer than I'll want to wait normally, maybe 4-5 weeks feels like it should about be the sweet spot. I really need to get into training to limit height. With all that said on to the bud porn:

Thanks!! Although I've been around, just don't have as much time to post as I used to. I was looking through my phone & realized I hadn't taken any plant pics in a couple weeks, so I figured I should stop in with an update.
I made it back into the Sierra Cup in May, so I’m going to be in your area. We have got to get together!

Awesome, congrats!! And definitely down to meet up. Like I said if you're staying at the holiday inn you're like 2 blocks from my house. Love to have you stop by & sample some of the goods. Just hit me up with the exact dates & we'll make it happen.

Another quick update. My drip system worked well enough while I was on vacation that nobody died. In fact I had to rig in some hangers because the buds we're getting big enough that they were starting to fall over. Seems like I always have that problem, maybe I need to look into adding silica in the future. We're 7 weeks into flower so probably looking at another couple weeks or so before we're ready to harvest.

Man I'm slacking on updates. Big tent is going to be ready to chop at about any day now, just waiting for some trics to start ambering. However I have one plant (the one in the back right) that still has white hairs flying around everywhere, it's grown past the lights (which are already attached directly to the ceiling poles in my tent) & it just won't finish up. I read somewhere that some people went to 18/6 to finish up some plants. I may have to move the babies into the tent with it & dry the rest in the veg tent.

Hey everybody just checking back in. Been really busy so haven't had much time to post. Literally in the process of harvesting the flower tent with 5 babies ready to move in as soon as I get the remaining two chopped. I didn't take many pictures, but the 2 that are still in the tent waiting to get chopped turned out really pretty. I'll try to al least post some final pictures after everything gets trimmed, but here's what's in the big tent currently.

WOW! Absolutely beautiful!

POTM material...........
Thanks!! They just developed this beautiful fade, I especially love the deep purple on yellow. It's almost a shame to have to chop them.....almost 🤣

Thanks CG, actually I'm probably going to have to hit you up for some seeds soon. As it appears my Greenpoint source may have gone down hill (and I checked yesterday & they weren't doing RA's anymore, I'm definitely not paying full price 🤣) But honestly I was looking for some variety anyway GP crossing everything to the same 2 plants is far from ideal, toward the end I was hunting RA's that were crossed with anything else.

Those 2 are actually Ponderosa Cookies, I also had Coffee Crisps in there but they all got the 🪓 a couple days ago.
The coffee crisp I been running is fire dude hell yea....the plants look good too. Im sure you'll enjoy the coffee crisps....mine is that burnt rubber smell on the plant and that classic vanilla cocoa gas taste we all like

Another totally random update. Finally got everything trimmed & bagged, didn't really get many pics, here are the Ponderosa cookies drying.

Got the babies up potted & moved into the flower tent. I ended up buying some LST clips that I used to keep a big stretcher from hitting the lights so I'm trying to implement them earlier now to try to open up the plants a bit more & see if I can get a decent increase in yield. (1st pic is about a week ago other 2 are yesterday)

Finally got this from my wife this morning, it's a SS one of our friends sent over from their son's (who also happens to be my sons best friend) phone from my 11 year old son.

Fortunately these people are cool, he grows himself & they both smoke, he even works at a grow op. So could have been a lot worse, but we're going to have to have a talk when I get home tonight, should be fun, lol.

Quick update while I'm not busy at work. All the plants are looking pretty good, just finished their 2nd feeding, thinking we're going to flip pretty soon. Per the CG method I need to do a tea before I flip, which I try not to do with a feed. So thinking when they are ready for water next time we'll do the tea & flip roughly a week later.
20250120_173401.jpg20250120_173336.jpg

On a personal note since I put my son on blast last week I gotta give him some props today. Not only was he on the principals honor roll (meaning all A's not even any A-'s) they also gave all the kids a reading test at school, basically studies their ability to read a passage & retain information & grasp certain information within the text. So my son literally maxed out the test score. He's in 5th grade & they say he's reading at over a 10th grade level. The test was based on a rating called a lexile rating 1300 is considered college/career ready reading level he scored 1400 & he may have been able to do better as the test they gave him maxed out at 1400.

That's awesome!

I'm trying to resist but screw it. What happened that he got put on blast?

It's in my last update, but basically he texted one of his friends telling him that I was growing weed. The other kids parents of course saw it, fortunately they already knew I grew weed & they're also growing weed at their house so it wasn't all that bad but we had to have a talk.

Congrats on your boy~!
Seemed like he was well aware of his environment before the test.
Kids are often more aware than we think.

Another quick update, nothing really major going on plant wise. Getting ready to flip in a couple days, really need to get in & do a bit of defoliation as they're getting a bit "bushy". Other than that everyone seems happy & healthy.
20250129_174436.jpg20250129_174535.jpg

On a personal note my drier broke yesterday. Granted I work in a somewhat related field but driers are definitely not my specialty. However I was able to get it diagnosed (bad heat element) & found a replacement on Amazon for less than $15 which is supposed to be here tomorrow. We were looking at paying minimally several hundred dollars to get it repaired & were even looking at replacing it which would have been close to $1,000. So if I can get by with a $15 repair I'm going to call that a huge win. (and then use the savings as a justification to spend money on a new vape lol)

I have a similar story with a customer of mine. She had a small casita at the back of her property that she rents out for short term stays. She had a leak in one of the showers that 3 plumbers couldn't find the issue without breaking up all the expensive marble work and she had to turn off the water supply to the entire casita. All 3 wanted to open up the valve area to see what the problem was and then go from there. Minimum charge for something like that would've been around $2000 not including the tile work that would have to be done to close it up. The tile work was original so she wanted as little tile removal as possible meaning a lot of time and care to not damage the tile around the ones that needed to be removed for valve access. All 3 plumbers told her that it was probably a cracked valve body. I told her before we go demoing a bunch of stuff before we know what's wrong we should start with the easiest and cheapest solution first to see if that will fix the problem so I removed the valve stem where the water was leaking and rebuilt all the seals. Put it back in, turned on the water and........no leak. Charged her $250 and earned a customer for life.

Yeah it's funny how some people default to the worse case scenario. Just start with the simplest possibility & work your way out. I looked up a youtube video on it before I started working & they were calling for removing the entire front of the machine & removing the entire drum to replace the element. The wife & I were burning one before I got started & told her that if the elements out I'm not tackling removing the entire drum. However after opening it up from the back I had all the access I needed to test & once I discovered the element to be the issue I saw that the entire housing was just held in by one screw & I could easily just unhook one wire & it was easy to pull the entire assembly out the back of the machine & work on it.

So at this point the wife was prepared to have to spend serious money on this thing when I come in & tell her I can have it up & running in a couple days with a $15 dollar part I'm basically a hero at that point 🤣

Looking loverly! 🥰
Now, if I could just get ya to scrog!
Thanks!! Yeah I really should give scroging a go. I have access to PVC pipe & fittings at wholesale so making the table should be relatively cheap. Maybe we'll try to get that up for the next round. I basically just need to make a frame the rough dimensions of my tent with a grid of string. Then put it on legs that would hold it up a certain amount over the tops of the pots, correct? Then once the plants get over said height just smash the grid down over the plants & let them grow through?

You need to tell the wife that you want to bank that money into your weed gear fund....heh, heh, heh.....🤑

LOL, I'm one step ahead of you, just ordered a new dry herb vape. I also ended up getting a nice commission check from work so I was even able to splurge & spend a little more than I originally planned & ended up going with the PotV Lobo. Also big thanks to @thisguyvapes for sharing his vast knowledge on the subject & linking me to his really cool website where I found the nice upgrade option. If you're in the market for a vape of any kind check out his site here.

I guess I kinda buried the lead there, the drier fix was successful. Back up & running for $15. Also just flipped over to 12/12 in the flower tent & did a major defoliation last night. Didn't get any post defol pictures & their still sleeping right now, but I'll try to get some pics this afternoon & update.

I've been a litle busy the last few days so I just wanted to give you all an update. Plants are still cruising along they just got fed yesterday & we're starting to se some flowers. It's kinda funny though the way plants work because all the ones with flowers are the same strain (Grape Jelly) & all the Purple Crunches are lagging a bit behind. They're getting there throwing pistils & all that, but just behind the others. Amazing how genetics work.
20250213_230608.jpg20250213_230454.jpg20250213_230426.jpg

So I had a bunch of trim lying around (like 2 or 3 runs worth so like 10-15 plants) & decided to finally do something with it. So I ran to the store & got some everclear & am working on some green dragon. It's been doing it's thing for about a week. Figure I'll give it until the end of the month & then start evaporating it down. Never really done this before so not exactly sure how I'm going to do it. I'm considering just setting it by a window in the basement slightly opening it & just letting a fan blow over it out the window. Or maybe use a crock pot full of water like a double boiler to speed up the process. And I'm also considering moving the whole thing to the garage (which is left open all the time when someone is there except when we're sleeping) which would be better ventilated. I know the fumes are dangerous so I just want to make sure I don't blow up my house. LOL

I filled a pretty big mason jar as full as I could but I still had quite a bit of trim left so I decided to make some canna coconut oil. This is a process I've done many times before so a bit less adventurous than the green dragon experiment, but I decided to do something different with the oil this time. Usually I just end up making it into brownies, but I really don't like having to eat a whole brownie (and I actually try to dose them heavy & cut the brownies up really small) or multiples if you really want to feel it. So I decided to try to do capsules, so we can just pop a pill or 2 and move on. Honestly I thin it turned out awesome. I have 100 (well probably like 95 by now LOL) pills ready to go & a shitload or leftover oil to fill more later.

Finally obviously today is Valentines Day so we had to make a box for our sons school party. On a somewhat bitter-sweet note this will actually be the last box we have to make as our son is moving onto middle school next year where they no longer do class parties. I will say we tend to do it up big for the V-Day boxes so again it's almost sad that it's the last one, but also nice that I won't have to deal with it again. Here's what we ended up with & I'll try to dig out a couple pictures of my some of the older ones we've done just to show off how into it we tend to get.
