While the family was out Sunday morning I looked after the new garden plants remaining. Squirrels and rabbits ate all the hollyhocks and some sunflowers.

Something has been munching my sunflowers, too. I haven't done anything to protect them, though.

I have a couple new hollyhock I need to get in the ground. I've never tried to grow them before.

They say they don’t like to be transplanted. I usually grow them in the house until they are well established. No bigger than a one gallon soft pot. Lots of sun and water. If it’s happy it will end up over 6’. You’ll have hundreds of seeds for the next year. Plus it will come back at least one more year but I’ve had up to three for the same plant.

Watch out for bugs and rabbits. They only seem to eat the leaves. I failed to cover last years this spring and the rabbits ate them because they are early to come up. 😤

We had a ton of rain on Fri the river raised around 4ft I was thinking there's going to be the chance of some salmon fishing this week.

I hooked and landed 1 salmon and lost 1 other after about 10/15 seconds of hooking it...it was still a good tug!

The tug is the drug!

What part of the world is that??? Pretty little river!

some sort of military ammunition I found recently

Looks like an anti aircraft artillery round. Cool find!
My job in the Army was artillery and I've collected a few pieces like a timed fuse head, a spacer used in a nuke round, and flechettes from a beehive round but nothing for shooting down airplanes.

Aphids are or were feasting on my apple tree...bad move.

I covered it with plastic and smoke bombed them...star dog 1 aphids 0

The smoke bombs are only £3/4 each they're very effective on the usual suspects.
My apple tree has recovered its doing ok now.

That's a lovely fish bro well done!
My rigs vary depending on the target and water height, in coloured water targeting salmon I use my spinning/bait rod with 9/10/13cm rapalas (Fin Minnow 🇫🇮) blk and silver are my go to option,

I sometimes use these called flying condoms, they're fairly effective and easy to loose in snaggy/unknown water they're only a couple of quid each.

When the river/s are running at normal levels I use my fly rod with 1 or 2 flies 1 on a dropper about 2ft from the point fly tied up with ± 8ft of 10/12lb nylon (for sea trout)

I also fish for brown trout ^^^ that's my best wild brown trout to date, I didn't have scales but I estimate 4lb ±.
Lol I didn't land any salmon that year but that trout did take the sting out of that, I was beaming with that one (8ft 4wt rod) 😄

(can you spot venus?)
Rainbow trout are good for when the rivers are too low to fish it gives us somewhere to cast a line but tbh i feel more at home on the river.

Take it easy folk's 🍻

Are there any other anglers out there besides myself and Doublej ?

Fishing appears to be popular amongst us stoners?
I'm guessing the the peace and tranquility it offers attracts us, deep down stoners crave peace, I think fishing is therapeutic it's an opportunity to forget problems for a while, fly fishing in particular demands lots of concentration and/or observations.
On the other hand you can go and drown a worm and enjoy the weather, banter and sit back with a few joints or/and beers whatever floats yer boat 😍

The USA is a angler's dream it's got most species of fish most folk's would want to catch, the downside in the USA is absolutely fricken massive you might need to travel a couple of thousand miles to target a particular species lol.

I like the USA and how patriotic you guys are, that's something to be proud about, props to the US patriots 🇺🇸 🫡
