Kief tumbler

I go old school afghan style with just heat and bit a water and after a good 6 month cure hash or my hash has a completely different profile - mellow , relaxing , indica type buzz but different .
Full melt
Brick hash (pressed kief)
Bubble hash
Black hash
All have different profiles in my opinion
1st pic is cleaned full melt - plant matter removed thru screens and static , second and third black hash made with heat only and minor plant matter left in

Used to get " Black Gold" oz with a cobra on the top in gold like those linked above back in the 80's. $130 an oz~!
Now I have to look for a photo from way back~!

We used to get it wrapped up like a roll of quarters or in a baseball skin sometimes like chocolate bars importers were creative even back then

Forgot this link if anyone wants to drool ? Lol https://www.cheebas.ga/hash
Have ordered from them a few times. They do have very nice import hash but jeez it's expensive.
The hash I get pictured above is as good or better, made somewhat locally by Indian guys using traditional hashmaking varieties grown indoors. The keif is extracted in an ice water bath then worked with heat and a splash of black tea apparently. Flavour is incredible. And it's only 180/oz.

Well, this thread inspired me to re-supply lol. Haven't had hash in a couple months. The smell of this stuff is absolutely out of this world! And arrives at my doorstep within 20 mins of an order lol

The hash is called Unicorn Hunter, this is the description of it from one of the many online vendors of it. Considered a AAAA hash.

It is phenomenal black hash. I like it as much or more than the imported hashes from the middle east. Definitely like the price better. I can get legit afghan hash too but it's almost twice the price, and honestly, no better than this.

I'll take the blame for that~!🙋‍♂️
Hell yea that looks great.
The tumbler is delayed till Monday per email.
Still haven't told the wife we have arrivals coming.
She looked at me when the spoon arrived today like 🩲~!
Bandit and Smoke are in sooo much trouble when the deliveries start tomorrow and don't end till Monday, well Wednesday got filter coming for humidifier.

We want their recipe
Don't we all. I get it from a dude who buys it from the guys that make it and they're pretty guarded about their method.
I asked him to try and get some details for me, and what they did let out is the plants are grown specifically for hash production using a variety brought here from a hash making region somewhere overseas. The trichs are water extracted and freeze dried, then worked with a small amount of tea and heat, but they didn't explain exactly how it was worked. I highly doubt they are hand working the quantity they make. The main takeaway, is they said the absolute number one factor for getting the dark black smooth consistency is the strain they use. Few flower grade strains produce the greasy dark resin necessary for black hash production. Most turns into a hard brown hash much lighter in color. I tried to get a cutting of their hashplant, and was swiftly denied lol. But apparently it's a weird plant, loose gnarly flowers, zero bag appeal, not the greatest to smoke as flower, but it has a very high resin content and makes amazing hash.

Reminds me of the kief bars we used to get, looked like a crunch bar, they came marketed as an ounce but were really 9/8ths. They were perforated into 1/3 sections and stamped with 420. You'd break off one chunk and it would be 3 8ths (10.5g). We used to do knife hits. Heat up a table knife by wedging it in an electric stove burner....load another knife with kief on the tip and when hot press em together and hit that shit lol. Primitive dabs....whole lot of waste

We used to use the butter knife in the stove too, but we would just use the hot knife to pick up the hash and then squish it right on the burner and hit it with a hooter. Also did hot knives the way you described except used a torch to heat the knives red hot. Also bottle tokes were popular. And of course pipes and water bongs. I paid more for hash in the early 90's than I do now, so it very rarely got put in joints back in those days. Now the main way I smoke it is in joints. The odd bit in a pipe if I'm smoking inside.

The best hash I think I've ever smoked was brown Moroccan soap bar hash when I was living in England in the late 90's. Fuck that stuff was good. Exotic as hell, and the most distinctly hash tasting hash to ever have hashed. That stuff only got smoked in joints with tobacco. My English buddies were addicted to smoking pot and hash because they mixed it with tobacco lol. Didn't smoke cigarettes, but would smoke 2 or 3 a night mixed with hash or whatever.

Best hash hash as in old school hash I ever got oddly enough came about 2003 at a "dead show"....we just hit shakedown street since parking was free...didn't even go to the show we were broke and needed some smoke and new we'd find something there....2 grams for 60...but a 1 hit would rip like 20 times and have 2 or 3 people sleeping lol

Best concentrate tho, I'm gonna have to confess it's either gonna be "diamonds" or live resin. Had some diamonds once of a strain called scooby snacks that was just too fire I kept a whole ounce. Live resin I had some Sundae driver from "oil refinery co" I think outta California or Colorado....anyway just the tastiest shit ever super potent too, 96.9% thc I think it was or 98.1...one or the other

Yeah its very cool to me to experience the difference between old and modern extracts. The age old methods of cannabis use like black hash, made the same way for God knows how long are just a different, almost sacred thing for me. And quite honestly, difficult to create and very unscientific. More of an ancient art form. Modern extracts like live resin and diamonds are on another level completely, and like you say, arguably a much "better" product. But just doesn't have the same experience.

All my best batches of hash, and it's been years...but all the best batches I made were accidents lol

Awesome video you hashheads will enjoy.
This is how traditional black hash is made.

I’m doing small batches with heat and drop of water - definitely an art ! Getting better - I think curing process is important here to get that smooth smoke ? Seems mine smokes better after 3/4 months in the dark- different flower makes different hash for sure , lookin for that right combo, may take a minute but I’m determined to master the old school afghan method

So how do we go about tumbling?
I see most freeze their material.
If you are tumbling buds do you grind them up first.
I have seen buds tumbled whole.
I am sure there are many ways to do this so I want here as many ways as possible and the differences.
Tracking now says tumbler and press will arrive today?

I over dry first, dryer the better ,imo. then freeze , nugs all about the size of quarter then into tumbler/sifter

It was mostly bandit
Tumbler arrived while wife was out~! ;)
It's all on you now if she sees the press~!:ROFLMAO:
Going to play with it this week coming up.
It is out in the shop since the weed will be chilled also. Convenient storage/ hiding spot~!
I always preferred to screen out in the cold. Probably 30f in the shop now.
Now I can turn it on and get warm and check in as time goes by.

What do you do to your stuff before tumbling if anything?

I don’t tumble yet but screen real quick then just crush up nugs , not pulverize like a grinder , I think bandit puts quarters like money round quarters in the tumbler to do this as it tumbles ? Sounds like A excellent idea to me

Nah I don't add anything like quarters but I've seen that and I've seen marbles added but I don't do that.

I agree go very dry and colder the better.
The most I really do is remove stems especially on larf and trash runs and that's mostly so they don't tear into the screen or get jammed between the screen and barrel rods.

When I do nug runs I leave them whole and do a short run of maybe 15 minutes and no longer than 30. All I'm trying to do there is take that top layer of trichs off the nugs without turning them into moonrocks. The more they tumble the more they start to look like moonrocks removing layers of flower. Kinda like sanding layers of paint off something.
Sometimes it will look like dispensary flower which gives you a little insight to some of the shady shit commercial grows do before you get to buy that weed but that's for another thread.
After the first tumble I examine the nugs and remove any exposed stems before tumbling again or loading in bags to make rosin.
Short times and slow speed will yield the best results but also give you the least yield. The longer they tumble and especially being so dry the more veg matter will be able to pass thru the sieve
