SSHZ does Captain RedBeard's "Biscotti Blonde" and Lit Farms "All Starz"..........

Many times.......... you just have to be careful with their genetics as some parents it's very common.

My new pH/ppm meter came tonight, I hate it when Amazon makes deliveries at 7:45pm in the evening. I've been waiting all day to water, the plants were wilting and dry as a bone. Set it up, check my reservoir and guess what- I've been water with 5.5pH so no wonder I'm having issues. By the morning, they will have bounced back so I'm going to defoliate the Biscotti#, and probably just leave the All Starz alone since most are smaller.

SSHZ did you run their Ice Cream Cake? I have 2 going right now. I will be PISSED if they herm on me.

I've only read good things, actually very good things on the Ice Cream Cake. I did see a few comments on Reddit that it wasn't a strong smoke, but others said the opposite. I know it yields really well. There's 24 of those seeds, so maybe they'll want to do a grow off or something it's it. I grew the Purple Runtz last crop and although it did not hermie, it was not potent at all. Looks nice, no taste or high........trash.

My history with them go way, way back.....when they were smaller. I had some great success with some kushes they did, but then the hermies started and I swore off them. We are talking 10-15 years ago, I'm guessing. The farm or RIU probably has the grows........

I'm running the platinum ice I believe it is. So far so good. Tall ones though. Frosty as a winter morning, but too tall for my tent. Super cropped after training branches. Out of room. Luckily stretch is over. I got some Chem crosses I was really excited about, now I'm not so sure. I haven't hermed in 3-4 yrs and chalked it up to newbie user error. Hate to have it happen again to me.

They are perking up more now though.what’s your ppm up to now and cal mag dosage.

I bumped up cal/mag to 10ml per gallon, veg ferts to raise ppm to 650...........they are greening up bottom to top so they have a way to go. Some didn't miss a beat, others yellowed quickly. A pH of 5.5 in soil will do that. lol

My meter, when calibrating, was stuck at 7.1 when dipped in solution for 30 minutes. I know there's a way to adjust it but I'll just pH to 6.2 (which will actually be 6.3).

I pulled the room out today, lolipopped the room. did a light defoliation, etc........I'll put some pics up tomorrow, after they've recovered. Still upping the N while trying to green them up more. No question the Biscotti has been a trooper thru this all though, impressively. The Lit Farms All Starz is a different story- first off, a wide range of short and tall phenos. No uniformity all all. These guys suffered with the pH out of whack, mightily.

If you remember, I had mentioned 3 of the All Starz seeds were tiny, like pin heads. These look like Haze seeds to me. They did slowly pop, and now are little tiny plants, which I have to prop up to get a fairly even canopy. 1/2 the size of some of the other plants. 6 days into flowering.

I usually defoliate first day of flowering, I waited until today so they could regain some health be the trauma. I'll spray something on them tonight, maybe some Monterey Insect Spray with Spinosad as a preventative, and flush the pots with Grandeva or Venerate (can't remember which one just now) for a mite treatment.

The Biscotti are putting off large sun leaves, choking light downwards......Ive removed the 6 largest on each plant, just trying to let some light reach lower bud sites. You can tell right away these will have to be defoliated throughout the grow, which has actually become the norm these days.

April will be 4 years with these Gavitas, not one issue. I mistreat them too, I have cuts all over my scalp from hitting the corners coming upwards. Ive looked at the diodes, as far as I can tell- every one is lit. I knew I could get 5 years out of them, not sure what I'll do at that point.

ICC was one of the best strains I have ever grown💯

That was 3 plus years ago!

Biscotti is currently one of my number ones! I have never grown a better strain when it comes to yield and quality. I’m far from a breeder but damn it checks a lotto boxes!!

Peace

Big difference once I was able to lock in the pH........I had to flush the worst of the plants, and they really appreciated the defoliation and lolipopping. A plants regenerative powers are amazing if you give them the opportunity.

I'm still looking for my conversation with Gu but did find one with Breeders Boutique, when I grew "The Dog", a kushy type strain. 24 plants, they completely hermied. The breeder just kept telling me to pluck off the male parts- I was spending 2 hours a day plucking and still losing the battle. The thread is over on RIU.

The thread below is from 2012, and it's in the old room under high pressure sodium's. Not too much has changed in 12+ years.

After reading thru, it appears I had 2 rooms going at that time, the other was Green Poison from Sweet Seeds. I wish I would have posted more pic's, but I was so disgusted with everything..........

My pH probe went bad, I didn't realize it until the plants poor health showed up. Got a new one in 2 days, back on the straight and narrow and things have greatly improved on both sides of the room. My pH out of the well is high, maybe 7.2 so I adjust to 6.3 and flush with plain water at 30-50ppm. Only 1 flush was necessary, since it was early in the grow. Wait a day, then restart fertilizatIon at a higher rate to green them up more. But the lockout was caused by the pH being too low.

Soil, Coco, or true Hydro?

Soil is a PIA to change the media PH from what I remember? I could take several days.

I’m a coco grower and in 1 gallon pots it’s easy. When in doubt flush it out with 50% nutrient solution preferably with a little extra calmag at the correct ph and check runoff until the Ph is back where it should be!

True hydro is probably even easier but I have never been down that road and have no experience!

Best of luck!

image.jpgimage.jpgI'm in ProMix, probably the most forgiving medium there is............

Another round of pic's, Biscotti first and the All Starz. Then I'll wait another week before the next one so you can judge growth.

Thinking about how to proceed with fertilization.......my normal routine for years has been in flowering:

1st 2 Weeks- 100% veg fertilzer

Weeks 3-6- 50%/50% veg/bloom

Weeks 7-8(or 9) 100% bloom

Then plain water til the chop. Stop Cal/Mag last 2 weeks.

Last crop, I switched to 100% bloom in week 1 and was happy with the results. This crop, I'm still at 100% veg, since the plants were under fed (and light green) because of the pH issues. I'll probably go back to my normal regimen, at least for now.

That’s a very well documented grow that one from 2012 ..liked reading that.short but sweet….and I loved the stacking from the green poison. Imagine it under the Gavita.

My earliest diaries are from 2010, and it's interesting to compare now vs then.......mites back then were a real issue, especially in the summer months when the room temp's were more difficult to control.
