Sorry to convolute this thread, but I just learned something about WEBP image files.

there is no way to upload webp or webm and have them displayed in posts. On any website you cannot (yet) display webp in the normal way (<img src="xxx.webp">) and be compatible with all browsers. The only viable way is to use png or jpg fallback, which uses a more convoluted code (the picture tag) with fallback alternatives

We have also run into compatibility issues with MS Edge.

There is a mod that I can apply that will transcode to jpeg. So the problem has been apparently worked-around on this Xenforo forum software.

I am not going to load this mod on prod, but I'll check it out and if it works roll it out soon. Thanks for the patience.

i'd be curious to do a code review on the mod. granted, i haven't been in PHP land for a couple years, nor have I written any prod-grade code in over a year, i'm mainly curious how they approached the transcoding. seems like something that'd be ripe for vulnerabilities.

I find it pretty wild that we got banned for things said in a private message group. And not even anything crazy. I asked MrG the name of this forum because I forgot it, even said I was just gonna lurk to see who all got banned. Boom.. im banned haha.
I mean.. no doubt the farm will recover, it usually seems to. But this is really quite the exodus.

DB the thing that started all of this is apparently I called out a sponsor on the forum for mites on clones. You were involved in that thread. You helped me diagnose it.

You remember me or anyone calling out Trustfall?

The lie that I did is what started all of this. He shitcanned me because I supposedly called out Trustfall publicly. The lunacy of it is amazing to me, and it just keeps getting funnier.

I remember that thread yeah. I was really surprised that you would have got a dirty clone from TF, I've always liked him on the farm. But I mean, what do I really know. I don't actually know anyone on the forums.

I was going through a similar infestation at the same time, never had russets before.
I noticed many growers going through it as well including you.
hard to know where they came from, but could have come from anywhere. Microscopic little bastards.

Hahahahaha, haha. Mid-ban, I was trying to reply to our PM about your photos, I said something like why are all your pics here? Don't you store them on your phone?
Tried to post it and then got logged out.

IPhone explains it. I've got nearly 16K photos on the removable minidisk in my android. Every photo I've taken and meme I've saved in the last 5 years.
 
not to mention the experience of going to a forum and seeing all the "image no longer available" placeholders instead of the original pics. external image hosting is by far the worst trend forums have seen yet.
 
Since you guys just started, let me just say that linking to external videos and such is cool. Music vids on youtube - do it.

When I get this server moved to it's forever home, we will have unlimited storage. Post whatever you want at full res.

Anything posted or said remains the copyright of the poster, or it's original owner as the case may be.

We will not pull the rug out from under you.
