Nah once your past the spawn the risk of contamination is much less. This is why we keep our spawn to sub ratio close. That gives the mycelium a huge advantage since it outnumbers everything.

Those ready-rice bags are 8.8oz each so 2 of those per lb of substrate?

If you want almost 100% success then mix 1/1 or 1/2 volume. With cube you want 3-4” of sub… so whatever size tub you need to get that depth or however much spawn you need to get that depth.

I bought 10 bags of the instant ready brown rice. The substrate I currently have came from the place I purchased the spore syringe. It's 10cc.

Id prefer atleast 2ml per bag but you can do 1. Just make sure you shake the syringe well or roll it between your hands to mix well. The syringes i buy are not spore but liquid cultures of mycelium. But of a difference but both work

I'm fine with that ... so 1 syringe is good for 5 bags ... I can simply buy another for the other 5 bags. Something like blue meanies (cubes) or Jedi

I'll get them today or tomorrow, however I have to get a few materials before I can start my inoc.

I was thinking 5 bags of innoculated rice in one tub and then 5 bags from a different strain syringe in a different tub. Would this be considered mixing since the ones in each monotub came from the same syringe?

I should have everything I need in a few days. I think next weekend might be the prime time to start with inoculating the brown rice bags. I'd rather take my time and nail each step as far as sterile technique than to rush through it and have contamination.

well, the inoculation process needs to be completely sterile lol, but after that youre good to mix it with youre substrate.

ive not done anything yet but once i get a few more things ill start the process and once colonized ill mix my spawn with coco/verm

Yeah the initial inoculation and spawn colonization is the huge risk part

So you mix your spawn 1:1 or 1:2 with coco and “let it go”
Can you do the PF tek method then crumble up/break up the pucks and mix with the coco?
Trying to figure out what method I’d like to attempt as I have all the stuff to sterilize (pressure cooker and what not but not the hepa stuff….
