Stoney & The Shine RDWC SCROG

Sooo… a little pricey learning curve. Is what I read. And your pretty much setup to try again at a later date.

I’d say you lost some time but gained an education. Not bad if you didn’t need the harvest.

One day I hope to go over these threads again and steal what works and avoid what fails when I decide to try.

Thanks for the efforts and testing what works and what doesn’t. 👍

no good quality education is free anyway i guess!!! haha

i sure know a few things not to do and could spot these same problems in someone else's grow down the road so who knows might end up being valuable versus a cost!!!

took some pics of my DIY ph probe setup...

the guts..

the GUI... (cleanroom talk for Graphical User Interface)

002.JPG

the bracket to hold the temp and ph probe, the temp is perfectly hidden in the photo by accident. put a threaded set screw on so i can slide it out for easy calibrations and cleanings!! has a full auto recognition calibrate sequence just like blue labs!!

003.JPG

it's now part of command central and yes, i later printed a set screw to match!!!! haha

004.JPG011.JPG

so if anyone would like to build one of these all you need is a PC to transfer the code and the rest can all be copied and pasted!!!

Wow I've missed 17 pages... better get to reading.

skim fast, i had issues... i'm gonna keep this thread for the new plants.. i plan to put an update on the first post to send folks to this spot.

i'm about a week in right now Grump. plants are looking fine so far, i now use GH trio and sitting around 250ppm with just agsil, calmag, trio, and great white. i will be adding rapid start and enzymes any day now. roots are just exposing now!!

i plan to do an update soon. Moe has been walking me through the DO/O2 meter he sent me and i just printed out a bracket last night and want to mount it in there tonight, gotta do a quick calibration on it and should be ready to test my bubbles!!! over the past two or three days ph has slightly been lowering so i think i have too much air again. yesterday i turned the rez bubbles off and it is better today so i might not be able to have air in rez for it to work right.. not sure till i get the meter in there.

other than i am ready for a good grow man, i'm due!!!!

There's a ton of DIY wizardry to geek out over in here. Your pH probe reminds me of some industrial tech I see all over the place. A lot of it has been good enough to hold up unchanged for over 30 years. Custom printing is icing on the cake :)

Moe/aqua what's your opinion on extra molybdenum for root growth like the product rapid start?
I use a dash of Rapid start, some Orca and Mr. Fulvic when I germinate. I've had good success with rooting doing it this way.

I also start them all like this. First into a GH Gro-Plug, then into the netpots with hydroton as soon as I have roots leaving the plugs. Usually a day or 3 after sprouting.

They'll stay like this until I'm ready. This batch was in the Germ dome a little longer than initially planned at 19 days.

I think this helps my roots. They hit the bottom of the tray as soon as they leave the netpots. These roots were exposed to light for nearly a week and still turned out pretty impressive. This is the day they went into the system.

Tons of roots for a tiny plant.

Plants were a little unhappy for the first couple days but they bounced right back once added to the system.

I dont know if these little hydroton balls make a difference but I love 'em. It's so much easier to transplant the plugs into the netpots because the little pellets fill every nook and cranny vs the random sized hydroton I was using before. I also think they helped with the side shooting as well.

I have found some strains will never fully recover at least by my hand when given a poor start.
Man like that Power Plant grow I had. Sucker was babied for 3 months before I finally tossed it. 3 months and it was weak and only a foot tall. Lame. It should've been packing on nugs at 3 months.

Or do you think getting a guardian is just as good or even possibly cheaper?
I have two BlueLab Guardians and I love 'em.

Is that weatherstripping you used nontoxic? Did it cure all the way before you started adding water?

Maybe it leeched into the system and poisoned your plants?

I dont know man.. I hate that you had to start over a couple times. That's rough.

I was at my wits end before I finally got some seeds to take, last round. Tossing out plants that are "established" isn't easy.

the printer helps a bunch, so easy to just make a bracket or something without even giving it a thought.

for the oxygen sensors i just modified the other bracket a little and didn't have tor redraw it, just a few seconds to change some dimensions.

got it mounted and wired in place too!!

never gave the weatherstrip a thought.. that was something not in grow one.. i got that stuff from Anthem back in the day, i'm pretty sure the paperwork for it is in the one pack, i'll look at it for sure man!! i also used permatx black for the joint. i left that dry for 24hrs but not sure if it can leach, its made for cars.

i thought for sure i had it solved but man the bigger plant now in soil is still doing the exact same thing, not sure if it's just encoded in the dna to grow this way now or if it's still unhappy i don't know. the plant will be going outside in mother earth as soon as it stops raining.

the third set of leaves continue to burn to this day... and no new growth ever comes from that node ever again. just baffling!!

.
.

so i have no idea if the problem is fixed or what... no freakin clue whatsoever...

what i do know is the newest plants look just fine like all the others did till week three..

the newest little baby groots with little baby roots!!!!!!!!!!! day six since sprout... The Shine!!!!!

010.JPG

the two Grape Punch from gps are in the small 1L aircells and are doing just fine in soil. i think they really liked the first eight days in hydro and haven't slowed down one bit since!!! these will also go outside but i might give these two some luv inside for a while yet.. the big plant has no hope so not wasting any more time on it.

both little ones have a twist to the single blades but not like the curls i've been seeing. i'm not worried about this twist the leaves aren't limping or dyeing back, just a twist.

so nothing has me worried but on the flip side nothing has me confident either.... waiting in suspense.

how do ya keep a stoner in suspense? .. i'll tell ya tomorrow!! haha
