Zen_seeker’s DIY Mixmash

Over the last two days the NL has really faded. The large fan leaves just started losing colour. While my usual strain is a dark green with purple washing through. Both have been fed the exact same mix and amounts.

NL is on the left.
IMG_7189.jpeg

It was feeding time and I know I couldn’t fix what’s already damaged but I can prevent it from getting worse. So I fed CB the same but a bit lighter and then added a bit of N and ProCal.

Previous feedings; ml/4L
20240131: Both plants
5ml Grow 2-2-4
1/8TSP FFBB 0-50-30

20240203: Both Plants
5ml ProCal 2-0-0
5ml Grow 2-2-4
1/4TSP FFBB 0-50-30

20240206: Both plants
5ml Grow 2-2-4
1/4TSP FFBB 0-50-30
Plus added to NL this feed only.
3ml ProCal 2-0-0
4ml Base 4-0-0

A few bud shots as they look better than the last pair of plants at this point.

NL
IMG_7247.jpegIMG_7248.jpegIMG_7244.jpeg

Removed a dozen faded and browning large fan leaves from the NL last night. Keeping leaf temps close to 24*c. CB is doing good and should start swelling noticeably by next week.

Both are frosty but I plan to wait out the NL this time. See how long it will go and what we get for our efforts. Bets are starting for week 14 and week 16 ATM. CB should be done around day 70.

CB
IMG_7278.jpegIMG_7281.jpegIMG_7274.jpegIMG_7277.jpeg

CB is looking real good. Still hasn’t swollen yet but soon. She’s taken over the basement with her funk. Smell is really strong, more like outside. The last clone is doing her best.

Garden plants are doing fine. Chives are about to flower/seed. Strawberry plant either has a couple shoots coming up, which I doubt, or has a couple of illegal aliens. Micro basil is coming along.IMG_7284.jpeg

NL clones are fine and healthy. 👍

CB
IMG_7349.jpegIMG_7350.jpegIMG_7351.jpeg

Both are getting chunky. Temps and humidity are up and down each week, sometimes daily. Weathers all over the place like mid spring. Still trying to keep the leaves at 24*.

CB & NL2 are about the same ATM.

The Hollyhock, Chives and Strawberry plant are coming along.IMG_7380.jpeg

A week later. IMG_7390.jpegIMG_7391.jpegIMG_7392.jpeg

I’m guessing the main Strawberry plant died and the little shoots are from seeds planted by birds/squirrels last fall. Not giving up on it yet.

Made 6.5lbs more FFJ yesterday with Apples and Bananas again. I’ve been using it and lacto in my feeding the last few feedings. About 5ml a gallon for now. IMG_7388.jpeg

We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Flower Day 55:

NL2:
Is coming along but fading fast. Top and bottom yellow and brown equally. Most, if not all, large fan leaves are gone. 9 fingers first now 7 finger and 5.

IMG_7404.jpegIMG_7433.jpegIMG_7437.jpegIMG_7436.jpeg

Going by the last NL this is only half done.

CB:
This is still looking to be her swansong. Purple, black and now yellow. Chubbed up and frosty. Leaves are more leathery. Some crack or tear if pulled or bent.

Be nice if I could do this well or better each grow.

IMG_7403.jpegIMG_7434.jpegIMG_7438.jpegIMG_7441.jpegIMG_7440.jpegIMG_7442.jpeg

I know you can’t exactly duplicate grows but I hope this means I’ve gotten a handle on my main strain. I won’t really know until the next time I pop a seed.

The Northern Lights cross is a completely different animal. Feeding the same didn’t produce great/equal results. I missed a window or sign along the way.

I’ve been adding FFJ & Lacto the last few feedings. Just 3ml/gal then 5ml/gal. Also switched to FFTB @ 10ml (2-8-4) for the last two feedings.

The original Northern Lights I harvested after 85 days flower.

I came so close but missed.

Family sampled last night after dinner. My wife didn’t feel much but my son and I got a body stone and frontal head high. Felt it in arm and leg joints. Body hum/tingle/vibration. On the bright side I sleep 7 hours or more each time I’ve tested it.

Going to try and get NL2 right this time. Highs totally different and a welcome addition if I can finish her off properly.

Did you try the Lazarus Vape Co? (😁)The site is taking a long time to load today, but we had a power failure. Mebbe related or not but this dope looks like some damn Jonny winter weed....February has been beery beary berry good to you Mr Zen. Cheers

Replacement vape died but I fixed it, for now. Have the old one for parts but need a new one. Old one was $250…🤦

Break time.

Flower Day 56:

Clone B is almost ready. Took a few scope pics to check then did a final wet trim before next weeks chop. Mostly faded large 7-9 point fan leaves and new small inner leaves.

Bud check from below canopy.

That’s about it for Clone B. She’ll be taken between day 63-70 depending on how the scope pics look.

NL2 is a hot mess to look at. Yellow leaves and bushy, droopy, thin branches. But loaded with buds. 🤷‍♂️

Nice work Zen .

Thanks Max. Just trying to catch up to you guys.

I think I learned a lot watching and grooming Twin 2 outdoors. I wanted to try and do the same inside. I must have done something right as I got similar results. Good and bad. (One or two stalled shorter branches.)

Next time I pop one of these seeds I’ll try it again. Unfortunately the NL2 plant stopped doing as well with the same feeding once flipped to flower. Another learning curve to deal with. 😝

Flower Day 58:

Watching closer now. I want this one just a time but early. More zoom.

CB: Took pics from middle and tops.
IMG_7563.jpeg2024-03-01-21-50-42-480.jpeg2024-03-01-21-50-51-795.jpeg2024-03-01-21-51-44-115.jpeg2024-03-01-21-51-45-131.jpeg

I know it’s close but I don’t want to rush it.

NL:
IMG_7562.jpeg

She’s lost a lot of large fan leaves. Mostly bleached to light yellow, sucked dry. More and more are getting brown’ish and withering.

She’s swelling and getting heavy all across the canopy now. Clips and string are supporting major branches or junctions. How many days to go…42-49? No idea how this is going to turn out. Just hope it’s worth it in the end.

Trying to use the wifi microscope to check if it’s harvest time. Apparently my house is on a fault line. Dam thing won’t stop shaking. 🤣

I ended up cutting a bud at G$ suggestion. I’ll see if my loupe helps with my new glasses.IMG_7659.jpeg

Pretty sure she’s getting chopped…

Flower Day 61:

I think I get a contact high walking through the grow room. Clone B has got that heavy, musky, earthy smell going. It’s like a spreading blanket at lights out. Thick and warm.

To be honest I’m itching to chop her. I want her early as I’ve let most of the last year go longer. So we could enjoy but also sleep. I want the up up happy happy she gives. Clone A is good, real good, but Clone B is looking so much better.

But I’ll at least go the 63 days and microscope again. The loupes and magnifying glass aren’t good enough. I might not get very good pics with the scope but I can see much better. When it settles down. Apparently I need a bench rest for my microscope arm.

Clone B:
No flash looks off.
IMG_7683.jpeg

Flash shows better but never good color. IMG_7684.jpegIMG_7685.jpeg2024-03-04-09-17-20-011.jpeg2024-03-04-09-16-06-507.jpeg

Northern Lights 2:
IMG_7686.jpegIMG_7687.jpegIMG_7688.jpeg

She’s unruly, doesn’t listen, grows how she wants, and needed far more N than I gave her. But she’s sticky as hell all over. I’m forever brushing my arm reaching over. I smell like a tangerine again. Her leaves are thin and she’s going to go at least 90 days. As G$ noted; she’s more Sativa than my current strain. Not what I wanted but if it’s better I’m okay with that. 👌👍

Flowers nothing like Clone B. Flowers and pistils look and act completely different. I expected more color than Clone B as well but nothing but some burn, and yellowing leaves. Pretty much anything but the largest leaves are covered with trichomes.

If she keeps swelling like this I’m going to have a problem. Already running out of places to clip and tie up. Branches keep drooping ever other day.

I’ll add one pic of the buds showing what I mean after lights on.

Okay, ramble off. Back to work.

I’ll leave this pic full size.
IMG_7695.jpeg

This is just a zoomed in screen shot of above. It’s just covered, sticky, and smells like Clone B if I brush up against it. That tangerine or clementine smell.
IMG_7699.png

Unless I chop that’s it for today. Haven’t slept well the last few days. My wife and I have been having stomach issues.

Not sure if stress or diet, something else?

Flower Day 63:

Going to chop Clone B.

Only a crappy old iPhone but I think the flowers look good. Pending how she tastes and feels I’m calling this a job well done. 🥲👍

Chop on Day 63:

30 Indica

I really tried to do the same job I did on the outside plant Twin 2. I think I did well. Tons of room for improvement but pending final smoke test I’m happy with her. I got the results I wanted and expected. Will wonders never cease. 🤣

IMG_7721.jpeg
IMG_7722.jpegIMG_7723.jpegIMG_7724.jpeg

Here’s hoping in 7-14 days we have a great trim day too. 👍

73152179643__4B9DB639-7132-445C-8F92-1E033B3BAEC5.jpeg

The lowest branch on the plant had a brace pushing it outward. After cutting the force ripped it off. The last brace I left on as it’s still opening the middle to dry.

Flower Day 63:

NL2:
IMG_7750.jpegIMG_7752.jpegIMG_7749.jpegIMG_7748.jpeg

I’m beginning to see an appeal. Now will it make it to day 90+? The leaves are fading much faster this round.

With no other plants flowering I hope the aroma comes out soon. Clone A & B were both strong and overpowering.

Just finished cleaning the tent and setting up with wife’s help.

Have three of the Northern Lights clones. How many remain depends on how NL2 turns out. 🤔

I finished the transplants an hour or two ago. Two aren’t in top shape from sitting in red cups so long while I mucked with the humidity, temp & light trying to save the Topanga Cookie seedling.

IMG_7757.jpegIMG_7758.jpeg

Going to give them a bit to recover. Lowered the lights and will check tomorrow. I don’t want large plants this time round.

Yes to Fox Farm Tiger Bloom.

CB=Clone B, I just get tired or typing it. I’ve never known my original strains lineage. 🤷‍♂️
The one I got to grow seemed like it was definitely in the Tangie family line imo, very very citrusy aroma and orange peel stem rub, and looked like the tangie I grew once before.
But with how many strains are out there it's so hard to tell by taste/looks/smells
