CannaGranny’s Corner a Thread For General BS and Good Will On BudBuilders

Started work at 5a.m.
Done by 9a.m.
Got no excuse not to be up potting.
I worked til midnight last night. I’ve got ten lbs of potato salad made up a cucumber salad and a couple of huge bowls of Cole slaw. Smokers banging this morning, got the meat in round ten last night. Everyone is due round 12:30-1:00. This morning I’m throwing a peach cobbler in the oven. Then, imma just sit, crank up the music and enjoy a good joint.
I’m tired Boss. Been working my ass off. Hubby is down in his back, so I have pulled all his slack this week. Mowing, etc. while trying to get all of my outdoor spaces spiffed up.
I have pulled it off though..12 coming for our first of the year bbq and smoke off lol.

Hey Gday, here's a trick that looks interesting a gnat eating plant1747601307651.png

I copy pasted his statement on these off a Reddit link

"Cape sundews are fungus gnat catching machines, the are literally a live yellow sticky trap that can grow & eat the gnats and last indefinitely without need for new trap replacements , a typical cape sundew can be had for 10$ and worth every single penny.

Is prolific from seed and propagation , one 10$ investment can start a whole lifetime IPM program for F gnats that’s extremely effective beyond yellow stickies."

Hey Yiz Menz!
Another late night before I can call it quits. I have been working/running my azz off. Matter if a fact, I’m too tired to tell you about it. This whole coming up week is hectic as hell. This coming weekend is the Sierra Cup and I’m going to have to work my azz off just to get my 175 rounds loaded. They say, no rest for the wicked, I swear I don’t ever remember being this mean!

So, a short breakdown of my last two weeks.
The Hubby is down in his back. (He broke seven vertebrae, seven ribs and punctured and deflated a lung eleven years ago and has a spinal fusion and a cage across nine vertebrae).
So, I’m covering all of his chores along with mine. The days are long!
I mowed the yard for the first time in a few years this week. I managed to get the toe of my shoe hung in the mower deck and fell on my knees on the metal floor of the mower. Caught with no way to release my foot. Hubby managed to get me released. Got on the mower, mowed about two acres, went to put the mower away, stepped down off of it, my knee gave way and I fell off of it! Yup, all in one day..fell on the mower, then off of it!
Been running like the wind, every day..I absolutely hate going places.
I covered all the shopping and managed a meal for eleven, Friday. The day started off sunny, then a freak storm hit. It hailed, the sun shined. It poured rain and then hailed, then it fogged up, the sun came out and then it hailed again. We just kept tokin and watching. The porches soaked, lined up 11 deep along the wall..
My little Sister came for a visit the next day, that meant cleaning a guest room and washing sheets.
Today, will be spent loading rounds for this weekend.
Tuesday is a doctor’s appt. 150 mile round trip. Wednesday is a doctor’s appointment another 150 mile round trip.
Thursday looks like a day off. (Thank you Jesus)!
Friday will be a trip to St Louis for the Sierra Cup a 390 mile round trip.
Shoot all day Saturday and Sunday, then the drive home.
All of this is where I have been and why my time here has been so scarce.
I’m tired Boss, I’m just tired..

Damn CG, I hope all is good now. So sorry to hear about your escapades of pain and suffering. Only the young...huh? Here's wishing you a better week, filled with painless joy and relaxation. I know you won't slow down, but I hope it's without further harm to you and yours. Have a better week.

Sorry for your husband's pain. That was a horrible injury. Must only be tough people living in your house. Gotta admire your determination to carry the extra load and continue with the original agenda. It's easy to imagine a lot of people in your shoes deciding to drop the shoot, just to free up some time.

Hope the hail didn't damage any young veggies and/or flowers. We have more rain headed our way. I still hear people at gas stations, grocery (old word, I know) store, etc. saying, "Well, we need some rain." Blows my mind. Ground is soaked and creeks a running high.

PS- The old adage about mounting right back up when you get thrown only applies to horses... not mowers.

It’s a big deal. National championship that only eighty people in four classes are chosen for. Imma make it happen!
The hail beat the snot outta my trees. It has rained so much here, I’m beginning to wonder WTH is going on. Raining right now as a matter of fact.
lol at remounting..gotta show that big hunk o metal, I am not afraid lol..

I’m actually doing well, ugly bruise and a sore leg, but I’m still getting around making it all happen. Never give in or up, right?
Thanks much for the good vibes ❤️

With the location, I figured it was a big one. I didn't imagine it was this BIG, though. Congratulations for making the cut. Good luck!

Wildlife sanctuaries are all the rage. Tall grasses and wildflowers are in.

Couldn’t find any plants just seeds. Lots of seed scams even on Amazon. I really like the idea and don’t get many bugs but nats do get in now and then. Unfortunately I don’t think I’d be able to keep it alive over the winter. Wonder if petsmart carries flies? 🤔
