Stoney's Luv Shack

I do remember now~! 🥴
They must have a way in from the outside which may be an easier way to get them?
You're right I love wood way more than sheetrock~! Just part of livin right IMO.
Natural and healthy.
Happy New Year man~!;hop

i have a ridge vent on my other roof not that room and i think they're getting in there, i know a mouse could fit through there so i'm sure one those could, they're small man, they get super flat thinner than a chipmunk even. i've had them get in years ago but had them above my laundry room not attached to that roof. it's funny about an hour ago i was talking to my neighbor about it and he says no shit? i got them too. we were both like wtf?!? it only makes sense thats where they got in but i'm not sure how they got from the ceiling to the living room. theres really only a couple places that they could now that i think about it. gotta be in that corner...

.

my fam and i sanded and treated every one of those beams man!! trees came from this mountain and were saw mill cut and we sanded them all down with electric belt sanders in the back yard... my parents, uncles. cousins, friends.. all built that room by hand. so proud!! except for the shingles.. fuck that i hired a few guys!! haha

sacrificed a little on insulation to get the beams to look exposed like that.. only 2x3 walls.. double roof though. it will out last me thats for sure!

Flying squirrels?
Like Rocky and Bullwinkle?
Are they flying because they get into your stash or they fly because when you catch one you punt it into the next county?

I like that Son of a Peach you got there. Mostly because it's gameday and we're playing at the Peach Bowl so everything is all peachy here.
Even ordered some peach flavored Pepsi and Coca Cola from the online stoner snack shop.🍑🍑🍑🍑

PSU made it look ez last night. Hope we can do the same today! ;hem;horns;hem

i'm sure it will be nice for them to be home next week!!

;hem

wouldn't that be awesome!!!!!!! i'd be breeding the bastards!!! hahaha

well you remember back when i first heard something.. never caught anything, but still heard something maybe once a week. it was odd. i had stopped putting traps u p there because i had to move my wall clock to access and i wanted to hear the clock again so i took the traps out, i wasn't catching anything anyway. and left the bated mouse trap just on top of my oak beam in the living room, not in the ceiling, just in the room. i put my clock back and all was fine, then it snowed xmas eve or the day before and everything was covered outside.. xmas eve it must have gotten desperate enough to go for the mouse trap... i went out there late at night to fill stockings and saw some speaker wires disturbed and noticed the mouse trap on the floor upside down with something big in it.. i was like please dont be a rat, please don't be a rat.. then i saw the small tail and sighed in relief, i turned over the trap and i just thought it was a chipmunk. i was how the hell did a chippy get in here??? so i was like well i know i'm using the wrong trap to catch something this big and my rule is whenever you catch a rodent there is always one or two more.. so i set the cage trap and set it right on the beam and caught two more since then and then found out that it was really the bug eyed flying squirrel.. all the clues make sense now,, big but not heavy, only at night, and i swear a few times when i was banging on the ceiling to scare them i would hear something out on the porch roof just seconds later. everything that didn't make sense all started to click... except for one million dollar question, how the hell are they getting in my living room???? i think it might be in the corner near the trap because i've had some trouble there a long time ago and just seems like a good as any place to start. if i happen to catch one more i'll set some cameras up to see if i can tell what direction there coming in.

my living room isnt drywall like the rest of my house, it's the kind of room you would like... i'm going to have to get a ladder and move it 87 times to inspect every single part of the beams up there!!! grrr.. i hate ladders!!!!

Happy new year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That right there is a flying squirrel gymnasium. 🐿️ 🤣

After a fresh snow I’d be checking the roof for tracks. Usually around the eaves or chimneys. Maybe at a roof seam. Has to be a hole there somewhere.

Chipmunks can be a real pain. Make holes everywhere in homes and outbuildings. Pretty aggressive too. Chase out other animals/birds. We just have a soft spot for them because they are cute.

snow, metal roof, ahhh thats a big fuck no on that one!!! besides i don't think they're active and walking around on the snow. when it snows i'm sure theyre hunkered down in my warm roof!!! i think the snow caused the first one to get desperate enough to go after the mouse trap.

it's been a couple days now and i haven't had any activity so maybe i got em all... between flying squirrels and spider mites it has me wanting to torch the whole place man!!!!!!! kidding of coarse!!!

Maybe at a roof seam. Has to be a hole there somewhere.

i have a ridge vent along the entire peak of my main roof. i'm thinking this is how?? i looked and nothing was wrong or broken on the soffit anywhere around the house so it's the only place i can think of.

my issue is how it got from the ceiling to inside the living room. this part should be completely sealed! there must be a compromise somewhere

Chipmunks can be a real pain. Make holes everywhere in homes and outbuildings. Pretty aggressive too. Chase out other animals/birds. We just have a soft spot for them because they are cute.

we get chppys in the summer a lot... never in the house though. a few years ago i had them stealing my strawberries in my greenhouse so i put out the trap. after catching like ten i started thinking it was the same ones coming back. i was just letting them go at my mailbox a mile or so away.. so i started spray painting their tails when i caught them... hahaha turns out i just had a lot of them. never caught any with a painted ass!!! haha

I used to release but as you say some comeback I think. Now anything that tries to get in the house or garage gets a pellet.

If it’s ever required rabbits will be relocated.

The ridge vent mesh or screen should stop them but if they want in they will chew through.

My moms is a metal roof but the squirrels keep getting into her roof. Once through the dryer vent. Another is there now through the soffit. They can’t fix it until it’s out. They have crappy vinyl siding that wasn’t done properly imo.

I was thinking a ladder here and there outside would let you see any tracks from when they go out to forage. But I see/read ladders aren’t your favourite tool. Reason?

I’ve used saw dust and diatomaceous earth to try and find out where mice are coming in with success. They tend to stick to walls and cover. Not sure for flying squirrels. We have them but I’ve rarely seen one.

Can’t wait to hear how they are finding their way in. Once inside water, electric, or any voids/holes are usually enough to let them travel. They pull up insulation to nest with as well.

Catch and release after you put a Bluetooth tracker on one. 🤣

the kicker really wanted to make it a nail biter for us!!!!

movin on,, movin on,,, !!!! ;horns

The mountain only gets steeper and harder to climb from here. The two best teams of the regular season are out so now it's all up for grabs for teams with both flaws and strengths to win or lose it all.
Texas has the defense and the fight to take this thing. Nobody is more battle tested
OSU has the best roster money can buy with studs peppered in all over the field but their QB is 0-3 vs Texas
PSU is the total team package but there's still questions vs elite opponents
ND has a puncher's chance

Familiar sponsor for this one. We need to roll out the NASCAR package ;hem

gonna start my harvest and bug removal... between the mites and predators and all that bug poop i'm going to wash my harvest before drying. i picked up some of this here...

002.JPG

i'm gonna add some to a tub of water and submerge the buds and stems for a few minutes and then hang them in my shower and spray them down with the wand good and let them drip dry for a little bit and in the dry box they'll go.

the harvest went well, took a little longer because i was trying to be careful not to track mites anywhere in case they were still on the plants. i trimmed everything right in the cabinet and cut the entire plant at the base and stashed them all on disposable boxes. then i pulled all the containers out and put them in the frigid cold, i'll deal with those later. then i walked around the house from the outside, stripped my clothes outside and came in through the laundry room and tossed all my clothes in the washer and hit go!! guys it was 25° outside, thats dedication!!! haha i then took a shower and and went and got all the boxes with the plants and brought them into the guest bathroom shower and put the tote with peroxide right in the shower.. i filled a standard size tote half way and then added 500ml of 12% h2o2. dunked them in one cultivar at a time, if the branches didn't fit i folded them up to fit in but kept all the branches and buds in tact. then i put a wire kitchen rack over them ( got this idea from @willie , it was a pro tip!!!) then i after about five to ten minutes i pulled them out and washed them off with the shower wand, this worked awesome!!! doing this in the shower kept the mess to a minimum and made clean up super easy! so rinse/lather/repeat six times and all the plants were done!!! dry box is loaded and stuffed and another harvest is in the books... oh and when i was done i gathered all the leaves and boxes and burned them in the wood stove!!! total time was about three hours.

pics of all the action....

You really did want to match my drying setup. 🤣👍

Remember, #1’s only. 😝

Seriously though it looks good. Hope the humidity cooperates. 🤞

Did you whack the hydro grow also?

yeah, back on the 19th i did the evil... i didn't really spell it out cuz i felt bad about it but this was the post...

i've been bombing and spraying that side ever since, in fact i've been leaving the black rooms door propped open for air becaus ei have the white room completely sealed off at the moment.. it's kinda chernobyl in there right now.

i'm going to open em both up now that i'm harvested and bomb the entire basement. it's frozen outside so nothing should be able to run and hide or come back in. I hope anyway!!!!!! after i bomb i'll steam clean, then dormant oil, then i'll wait a little and bomb again and maybe even wait another week and bomb a third time. my living space is sealed off from down there and there is nothing but my plants that i need to go down there for so i might as well overkill it!!

man i wish i had a full size like yours!!! it was a little cramped in that little bathroom!!!

to get the rh low enough i gotta make it cooler and now my dew point is off so i might make an adjustment if things don't balance out here in the next 24 hours. last time i reacted to quick and turns out i wouldn't have needed to so i'm gonna wait another day before i change anything.

Bugs man... fuck 'em. I really hope you get 'em taken care of. I hate it for/with you man. Fingers crossed for ya.

i'm gonna give it all i can man!!

i started with bifenthrin and pyrethrin bombs with no pest strips in between. next will be the mechanical up close and personal cleaning probably spaced out to one a day but a good cleaning with bleach, hot steam, home defense, and a coat of dormant oil. i'll then wait a few days and hit them with a chlorfenapyr bomb and also an etoxazole bomb. i gotta do some research and also bring up a discussion with you guys on which one of those i should do first or maybe both at the same time?
the chlorfenapyr kills adult mites, the etoxazole only kills eggs, larva, and both nymphal stages of mites. maybe the adult one and then a day or two later the egg one?

anyone here have any experience with either of those two? ^^

i haven't found information on how long each stage takes once the egg is laid. i understand conditions control the timing but there must be a window of some sort.. most i find is a life cycle between 5-20 days. i need better info.

Now comes my favorite part of the NFL season. Nope not the playoffs or super bowl...building teams and I've got my eye on your Raiders!
6th pick overall is nice. $112 million in cap space is even nicer!
Can you smell it?
Worst to first in 2025 is what I'm smellin'!
Looks like they're sticking with the coach and GM as well

i was wondering how the coach do with keeping the job, i personally have no issues with him. i don't think he did anything dumb so i'd say give him a chance!! the players really like him i know that. the GM is just so new there they can't really justify a firing.

they need major changes to a few areas and they might have to bring in some old guys to mix it up with all the young guys. i just hope they pick the right people.

there is not as many rebuild teams this year so hopefully they get some of the changes they really need!!

back in the mid season there was chatter about tom brady becoming part owner of the raiders and it had enough friction that all the owners voted on it. i haven't heard or looked for anything more on it since the vote. the team has changed so much since Al Davis was there. i would like to see a culture change come down from the top. i'm not saying Mark can't do it, i just feel he needs a change. hell mark davis is getting pretty old himself anymore.

i think the news on the raiders will be kinda quiet for a little while. till the draft anyway.. it would be so awesome to see them in contention once again!

.

it won't be much longer.....

1. Reducing ppfd
2. Reducing temps
3. Using something like koolbloom
4. Possibly reducing light hours by an hour or two

Few things you can do to encourage "fininishing" or "ripening"

Spectrum has its affects too.

Off the top of my mind.

Just how it happens in nature, fall comes, winters approaching, gotta signal to you're plants indoors, that they don't have much time left either.

Earth tilts further away from the sun, the Spectrum changes coming in through the atmosphere, it gets colder.

Same thing with how we "signal" them into flowering, changing to 12-12.

Yep, spoke too soon and AP is out but they're keeping the GM and you're right, Brady is part of the next coach search.
Looking over the list of free agents and the draft...there's tons of potential in there. Tons!!!
I think you grab the LT from Texas or the edge rusher from PSU in round 1. Get line help there and forget the top QBs and WRs. There's guys just as good without name hype in later rounds.
Rounds 2-5 has players with value and potential starters...like the RB we just played out of ASU and a good QB too but I'd still go FA for a starting QB. Winston is the fit IMO there. 2 years starting then the rookie from this class takes over.
It's all there for the taking if they get the right football heads running it and they're all in alignment.
This makes me wanna watch Moneyball and Draft Day all over again!!

wtf?!?!? three head coaches in three years now.. players have helmets older than that!

yep, i agree sir!! in fact i did all five of those things in the same order you listed, only i snuck in the spectrum change around your step 3.

quality seems off the charts this round!! i don't always get to lower my temps this cold and adding a dehuey late got me in the mid 20% rh range at the end!!!

i'll follow up with a final dry trim if needed, most of whats left should just break off with a little crunching...

Nice man!

I think that low RH towards the end helps stress them, and the sugar leaves will develop more trichomes. Along with everything else perhaps.

I've not uses the VGs yet but im itching too, waiting to find out if I can grow a few plants long term in the closet, for the short term here.

i'll be getting a couple VGs going soon too.. i printed a smaller one for myself, i've never used one those new one sided styles yet. i just need to pick a good genetic for the scrog. i need to decide soon though, it might end up being something i've grown before.

sorry man i missed this one somehow... i agree though, it's a little tougher with the living soil but i did go water only for almost two weeks before the chop.

bagged it all up last night for a quick cure... gonna give some to my neighbor tomorrow to get his feedback!!

ahhhhh yeah!!! load er up baby!!!!!!!!

you'll have fun experimenting with seed placement, both height and orientation. you can raise em up a little if you're looking for more tap root room next time. direct sow rules apply with 1/4-1/2" below.

I am pleased to announce the 2025 NASCAR Fan Rewards is open for business!
I lost the 52 points I had left from last season but opened with 188 for being subbed up to the newsletter and got another 13 for paying attention in 3rd grade math class with the first trivia question. 😋
I'm at 201 as of this morning and on my way to 15,000 for that COTA garage experience ;rockb

BTW....Texas is sending 18 prospects to the NFL this year. 10 of which I'm pretty sure could help the Raiders in 2025 🤞
Also, word on the street is Texas is a player for a pair of WR transferring from PSU. We aint rebuilding. We're reloading!!! ;hem ;horns ;hem

Early chop?
I've been finding these Irie cuts are in it for the long haul on ripening taking at least 12 weeks but up to 15 is better for some. IMO you really cant overcook them on ripening but cool air and changing spectra can help expedite a little. Haze is just a slow cooker.
That pack of Head Punch I sent you will be an early girl though. 8-9 weeks and she's more than done.
