It can be a luv hate thing. These planks came off my property last summer. I wasn't able to find a klim dryer that wasn't been used or a line for months.
So i made do bringing them in the house for a few hours then back outside for a few weeks. That wide grain shit might be pretty but it's the weakest part. And want to split as the last bit of moisture leaves if not dried slow or you'll be starting over. I have lots to replace...

Here is a painting I did of my big dumb cat after she burns my house down. She puts her tail on the glass of the fireplace until it starts smoking. Ive never seen an animal so dumb.
Also is a pic of her after I got done scolding her for doing just what I painted.

Patience is one of the big tools. Learning how to work with the grain in another. If you can’t work with it artistically then do it from an engineering perspective. Gears and rods have been of wood for a long time bud.

I’ve seen amazing things done with a pocket knife while an old man sat on a porch smoking a pipe. I e also seen some impressive work shops with tools I still don’t know the name of.

You’ll find your path if that’s what you want to do.

I made an island top out of a big butcher block. I had to use a biscuit joiner to attach two parts together. After 15 years it’s still rock solid where I attached them but one or two gaps opened on one end.

They aren’t big or spreading but I know they are there. Bugs me. My great grandfather had a trick using glue and then swelling the area with water but I don’t remember the steps. Haven’t tried it myself. Maybe YouTube might help.

Epoxy I use on plastics and metals mostly. But in your case treating it like it was a wooden floor you were trying to seal might be a good approach. Never done it myself but a buddy I used to know did polyurethane flooring. Looked like a bowling alley when he was done.

I’ve seen a few cats set their tails on fire. Mostly from walking on window ledges or skinny tables behind couches with lit candles.

Every time they just flick the tail and it goes out but I know luck runs out. Always a fluffy Persian type. 🤦

oh hell nah, i lookin to learn something new!! hahahaha i just wish i had more artistic talent to go along with my rough skills!!

last week i repaired a table for a friend, they got it at a thrift shop in Wisconsin and it was in four pieces so i repaired it and filled and stained and blended paints. turned out good.. the top swivels up and latches flat. it was missing the dowel and legs were broke off. i fixed more than a dozen chips in the top and you can only see a few of them, way better than what it was.

so yeah i'm much better at repairing things than i am creating them!!!!

I still have two stickers left. One small and one large. Wife didn’t want one on the car, which I get, but it was tempting.

I stuck one in one tent. The other large one got crinkled so I’m waiting to see if a pot store stays in business before sticking it on the siding near the entrance. The small one I want to put in my stash box but fear it will get mucked up on the wooden try over time. Love the fridge magnet! 🤣

I have/had the same type of table. Top has a brass hinge with a locking catch. Just snaps in place. The legs slide off too with brass plates and screws. My top wasn’t painted but rather a leather inlay with painted gold trim and pinstripe.

My daughter broke a leg off so I don’t recall it it was fixed and stored or just tossed out. Lost a lot of antiques to the kids/pets over the years.
