My wife was vegan when we met. It didn't last very long.
I made chicken fajitas one weekend early on and converted her.

I'm originally from California, from 0-18 then at age 21-50 have been in Texas so I consider myself Texan now more than Californian.
There's some things out there that simply don't fly here. Tofu is one or really anything imitating meat. Pineapple on pizza is another. Veggie burgers, avocado toast, etc.
Sure they're here, but I think we use them for profiling purposes

I hear you bandit. The people that owned the local hydro store sold out to grow gen and moved to north east Texas, Anyways they went out there to plan the move in a new Sprinter. Saw them at the shop after their return and already had Texas plates on the car. Was told no way CA plates in their area. Cali is shit and I will 100 percent admit it. It was a cool place in the 1980-1990s.

Yeah good luck trying to get a Texan out of his truck and to stop eating BBQ

For real though, it's wild how the law here turns a blind eye to weed here. They want cartel weed and smugglers and all that gang shit but for the home groweing cowboy hippie, we're left alone to do our thing.

I'll never forget when state police and local LEO were chasing a wanted fugitive about 10 years ago. Dude hopped every fence on this street cutting thru backyards. They cut him off in my backyard and tackled him in my small outdoor patch. State police just laughed at my grow while a local actually helped stand the plants back up that had been knocked over. Pretty much been cool with LEO since but I don't get stupid and push my luck with that either. Now if I grow back there I'm more worried about getting ripped off than I would be cops.

Believe it or not Humboldt is way more liberal than the area of Socal I am in. I hear the Russians are really taking over that part of the state and they flat do not care about anything. Here the cops will hassle a homeless person the minute they reach a boundary in the city. I am not your normal liberal Cali person, quite the opposite. Hard work and honesty are a deep part of my morals. Yes I have no problem trying new foods, been doing that since high school. Hell we where eating Korean BBQ back then and yes I am fine with Tofu but when it comes to the crap this state considers acceptable I am not a part of that movement. There are bubbles in this state where the stuff like up in San Fransisco or LA does not fly.
Telsa's and Gavie's no gas to new homes are just part of the crap this state is all screwed up about. This state started to take a turn for the worse right around the time you where born. Prop 13 was approved the same year as state employees where allowed to form Unions. The politicians and Unions have been scratching each others backs every since.

Tech is pretty much all up in Norcal other than Silicone Beach in Venice area of LA. But you can also thank your state politicians for offering tax incentives to bring California Companies to Texas. I hear Austin is pretty Liberal, once thus folks get a foot hold watch out.

I will add most of the folks moving to rural parts of the country are not the Tesla and Gavie type folks. There are among the minority members of the state.

Being from TN. I grew up around "stock" cars, me & my friends would add a 4 bbl carb, intake, headers, and "cherry bomb" mufflers, our NASCAR. Here in Texas they eat "ranch style" beans & there is a "brand" called that. Texan's are a different breed, and we volunteers from TN. came to San Antonio to help their cause. my man, i love that stuff to the core!!! i never really mentioned or showed these before but a close buddy of mine lost his son in a motorcycle accident a little over a year ago. Justin was only 24 and a hell of dude!! he and my friend had just started working on this 76 firebird. he bought it partially fixed up and in his kids honor he and I have been restoring it in our free time over the past year. just last weekend we got to take it out for a real test drive, well it turned into a 2 hour cruize!!!!!!

my buddy is great with the mechanics and know how. and his kid was just same always liked the high quality and only bought the best parts. I did all the wiring and helped with interior and small stuff like that. first time i ever wired an entire car from nose to tail!!!

it's got a 383 stroker motor, total torque monster!!! mickeys stickys, wilwood, all the best stuff!! did a rear seat delete, put the battery in the trunk with a cut off for the drag strip, line lock kit, msd two step.. the works man!!!



















it's gonna be a bad bitch when she's done!!!! handles and drives like a new car but has the muscle and roar of an old school!!!

i'm from north east pennsylvania.. beautiful countryside, no natural disasters, great water, low crime, food is ehh?? but all we get are the damn jerseys and yorkies movin in!!!!!!!!!!!!

i heard a guy say that around here a few years ago and it made me laugh.. some people get too sensitive about the area they live in, some defend it like they founded it or something... i mean seriously most people don't do anything for their close community but seem to get mad if you crack a joke about it.. kleenex crew!!!

Yeah the Russian thing was something they brought up too and I never woulda thought that would happen or even why. She's in Ferndale and IDK if you've ever been there but it's like that bridge to get there is some sort of time portal back to 1955.
Only thing Russian I ever remember was once in the early 80s a Russian sub parked a few hundred yards off the coast there.
She's not a big city girl and has no street smarts so what she sees happening in towns like Eureka with the homeless junkie take over scares here a ton.
People up there were usually pretty small town minded. Nosy at times. Most worked diary farms, salmon fishing, or timber industry and if not that, probably growing weed or has a small business of some sort that supports those other industries. There were also the biker gangs and meth cookers but at some point yeah it turned by way of Portland and SF in letting junkies do whatever they want with a lot of people thinking government should hand out everything and nobody should have to work.

There's that faction of people in Austin now too so that's what we're up against. People who want everything for free and then people from Silicone Valley moving in and not satisfied with what's here so things get gentrified as they want a home that looks like it should be in Malibu set in middle class and poor neighborhoods.
And yeah I blame the tax breaks we give them just as much.
In my perfect world it would be one of libs coming up with ideas and conservatives managing the money and slapping that lib hand to prioritize needs. But we're long past that and into this toxic and tasteless world of politics being a spectator sport and it's so gross to I just tune out and long for the day I can retire and become a beach bum in South Texas and leave city life behind

That my friend is an Austin Hipster. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned him and his kind many times in the past. And he's standing in front of Austin City Hall.
IDK if you remember but some years ago there was a laziness movement where people who did not want to work or pay for anything life believed the rich people of the world should pay their expenses. I wanna say it was called Occupy Wall Street or Occupy 1% or just Occupy ____. It was basically a bunch of lazy whiny hipster fucks camping out at places where there were rich people living and working. So of course a merry band of hipsters here wanting to be cool did it too. Then they decided to block traffic and it was on. The result was no free anything but one of those dongle nozzles became the jackass in a meme and the rest just got yelled at and flipped off by all of us who actually have to get up and drive to our jobs.

I thought it was gonna be our day.
Luv Shack by the B52 was playing before the race. US Army brought a 109 for display which is what I was on. Saw the armadillos. Got high AF.
My seat plan worked...up in the shade, not too far, not too close.
#5 was looking like it would be the winner and I watched the #14 go from 31st place and work his way into the top 5.
And to top it off, KB was out early with his Ricky Bobby impersonation driving in reverse 3/4 of the track back to his pit box.

And then

Man sorry Larson wrecked. I didn't like the cars involved and Larson got the short end but I didn't see anything dirty, just hard racing.
It opened the door for the #14 and I got giddy.
Next restart, Brisky got a great jump but by ramming the 23, split his front end splitter and his car was too tight to go full speed but it was there for the taking. Just hit the 23 a little too hard because "Mr. Restart" had a shitty restart. 23 stumbled then 24 and 1 took his cornbread. Happy crowd after that. Nobody wanted to see Bubba win.
Great race. great crowd and we had a blast. I smoked a doob on the way up from parking to entry and drank two Louds...one at driver intro and another after the gree flag dropped. I was high and happy the whole race!

Got up there on only 4 hours sleep after the Baylor beat down but once that smell of high octane fuel got in my nose, I was wide awake.

Had another awkward moment with a driver. Not Joey Logano this time but Kyle Petty.
We were at the JRM hauler to score some Allgaier swag. It was hot so I told my wife to go in front of the hauler and wait in the shade.
KP was scheduled for a QnA and autograph session about 30 minutes later which I wasn't interested in at all.
So I got my swag and went to my wife and she told me "That guy keeps looking at my shirt" She's wearing her Chicago Street Race shirt and looking good. I look at the guy and it's KP hiding behind the hauler so people don't see him before his QnA session. Creepy dude man! Creepy dude!

Here's a fun fact for you I think will put a smile on your face...
I've been to six cup races. Kyle Busch has a DNF in four of those races. His best finish was 5th at Chicago but that race also gave us his wreck into the wall of tires. His best finish other than that, 28th.
If you're a betting man and it's a race I'll be at...Bet against KB. I'm his jinx Brother!!

I wondered if they would need to repair the pit wall after the Xfinity race.
That was a hard hit.

Great race~! Rooted for #5 all year. It hurt till it got better.

ehh... bubba was just racing, i don't think he intentionally did anything, or even unintentionally either for that matter. larson was just riding on the edge and pushed it just a little too far. he should have been more patient i feel. even if bubba would have passed him with 20 laps to go he had a good shot at getting the lead. he pushed too hard to not have to race side by side and did it on old tires and maybe he could have cleaned them off a little better before the restart! woulda coulda shoulda.... great race either way!!!!

Had another awkward moment with a driver. Not Joey Logano this time but Kyle Petty.
We were at the JRM hauler to score some Allgaier swag. It was hot so I told my wife to go in front of the hauler and wait in the shade.
KP was scheduled for a QnA and autograph session about 30 minutes later which I wasn't interested in at all.
So I got my swag and went to my wife and she told me "That guy keeps looking at my shirt" She's wearing her Chicago Street Race shirt and looking good. I look at the guy and it's KP hiding behind the hauler so people don't see him before his QnA session. Creepy dude man! Creepy dude!

Here's a fun fact for you I think will put a smile on your face...
I've been to six cup races. Kyle Busch has a DNF in four of those races. His best finish was 5th at Chicago but that race also gave us his wreck into the wall of tires. His best finish other than that, 28th.
If you're a betting man and it's a race I'll be at...Bet against KB. I'm his jinx Brother!!

yeah right after larson wrecked i saw briscoe on the front row!! i was still listening to the 5's radio and they didn't make speed before that restart and was black flagged so i switched over to the 14s radio for the restart... i think i was even more excited than when larson was restarting!!! i was yelling into the speaker, get up on his door!!! there was just nothing he could do and got swallowed up. at that point i was pretty sacked and was just hoping the 6 car could hold on for ya in the pool. speaking of, how did ricky finish so good out of nowhere?!?! so with just two points apart you two will tie for the lead going into next week!!! tie!!! but did ya see with the 3 and the 5 having bad days you got a nice cushion growing!!!

not many races left... larson hates talladega, i'm not much of a fan either except for the infield action!! he needs a really good finish because now he outside lookin' in!!! and that ain't the place to be at talladega!

fun race to watch though so it had to be awesome to be there!!!

yeah i'm pretty sure nobody on either team was upset with bubba, nothing was said on the radio at all. he hit the fence and the spotter said, you ok? larson just said yeah, i'm sorry guys. then the crew chief just jumped into survival mode and thats how it ended.

i'm kinda surprised he took the inside on the restart, nobody was running as high as he was all day. he kept asking on the radio, is anybody running higher up, and they'd be like higher than you?, no! they all get loose up there like marbles, be careful with it... then larson spins out on the inside!!!
eh, woulda, coulda, shoulda.. once again!!

i just hope all the other playoff drivers get in the "big one" next week at talladega!!! hehehe

Just be patient #5 will get his pay backs. Just like he did to the #11 yesterday.

If you take a real close look the #23 used his position to force the #5 to the bottom of the track below the grove. It happened when it looks like they touched but they did not touch. There was no rubber down there. IMO this is more a part of the issue than over driving the car. This happened on their second run into turn #1. Both cars would have had plenty clean tires by this time. They were both on used tires but the degradation was low that day. The #5 was simply forced off the racing line. Trust me the #5 will find an opportunity to pay the deed back. The Nascar drivers know dam well how to make things look somewhat clean when it was dirty. I had a hard time ever seeing it but Gordon was known to be dirty as heck out on the track. Then you got someone like Spenser that could not hide a thing.

That 43 Gray Ghost car was strong all day! That was a huge surprise of that race!


I can't get mad at Bubba because everybody was racing like that all day. It was part of the strategy that got the 14 up to the front. The unusual thing was that the high car would get in the most trouble but it was reversed on that wreck. Bubba lucked out big time.
Some drivers were more of a gentleman about it, some used xtra caution because it was a very fast and slick track, and some, both 23/11 drivers were hardasses about it but had every right to be that way IMO.
Briscoe and Hamlin almost had their moment but Briscoe backed off and came down before he either wrecked, collected too much debris, or got shuffled back in track position. This went on all race and the 14 won some and he lost some with that strategy. He raced Larson a few laps the same way and I admit it...seeing the 14 and 5 racing hard a few laps got me a little misty eyed seeing two really fast cars and good drivers doing their thing.

The most frustrating part of it, was the brilliance of how the 5 got there. Running down the 12 was awesome. But when he ran down the 23, that was special. The track was covered in shadow by that time and that car came to life!
When he passed the 23 the crowd roared and the next two laps he got a standing ovation from everybody. That was the kind of racing people pay to see.
He passed on pitting and that was questionable but it's Larson and Daniels so who's gonna question them? Nobody! Those two play 3 dimensional chess while others play checkers!
Then the move on 23 was almost how his whole season has gone...Utter brilliance marred with bonehead, almost rookie like mistakes. It didn't look much different than when the 42 moved up about a foot on the track and sent the 48 and 10 spinning. BTW from my seats, it looked like the 48 was the only asshat out there doing dumb things Sunday.

Gotta love them 'Dillos! Unless of course they're tearing up your veggie garden digging for grubs.
Y'all know that old 80s song from Falco, "Rock Me Amadeus"?

check it out Smoke, you had me thinking about this stuff for my koi pond, the stuff i was using changed and is a little more watered down so i figured i would give the ML a try, i just found out somebody else i know uses it in his pond so i figured i would try it now and if it works good i'll load up next spring....

i also got their BMC blend but i'm pretty sure i got rid of my gnats now so hopefully it's just for emergencies!!!

it's crazy the psyche that goes on with stock car racing. guys study up on other drivers tendencies and lines all the time. and they never seem to forget breaks or shafts with each other!

i would hope that larson is too good of a man to get even like that, it's one of the qualities i liked about him when first choosing him as a fav.

just back at the first cutoff race when the 9 was out and the race wasn't over but it was for larson a couple laps down. the crew chief( btw, i call cliff daniels "coach") but coach asked kyle, well we can grind it out try and get a couple laps back and try to salvage a day or we can just go have fun and try to help out chase.. kyle paused for a couple seconds and said fuck it lets help chase get in... he had the opportunity to take out bubba then to put chase through but he didn't. he doesn't need to. just race hard don't make mistakes and nobody can take it from ya ever!

i missed a few spots in the race and never rewinded to find out.. i always try and get my chores done in between action but i missed a few things in the race. for one i never got to see larson take the lead, and i missed what happened to the 43.. did he get caught up when the green flag stops started and the caution came out? i know a few guys got messed up from that..

and one other thing i did tonight... i decided to start more seeds. all this bug action has cost me the seedlings and it's just not worth it or maybe not even possible to save them. good news is i don't have any bugs anymore, no gnats, spiders, ants, nothing!!! bad news is i lost my seedlings... good news is there is a huge reverse auction going on again!!! bad news is i gotta start them over... good news, i get to try ARC again!!! we can do this back and forth all day long!!! hehe

so i started eight more, the same eight i tried the first time... so with any luck some will start life on wednesday and both my plants and i will share the same birthday and have some cosmic luck thing growing on!!!!

'Dillos are weird animals Dude. Kinda reptilian or maybe like a possum in full body armor. IDK if they have teeth and I'm not gonna stick my fingers near one's mouth to find out! They have wicked Freddy Kruegar claws for digging deep and fast.
We have them but I don't ever see them. I only know they're around because I don't treat my yard for grubs and I see the little holes a dillo has dug hunting the grubs. Baby armadillos might be the cutest thing ever though.

On my driveway fence I have a gag sign that reads "Beware of attack armadillo" and you'd be surprised how many people actually think it's real and start looking around thinking a dillos gonna get 'em

Fucking gnats man. Those and springtails have given me fits in the past. Another option is misting the soil surface with diluted orange oil. Kills and repels but it's a spendy option at around $20/quart. I've used it for that but mostly use it on ants

ah man i never thought about the orange oil... i have some here too,, the good cold pressed stuff from texas,,, damn i never thought of that... oh well the deed is done now...
bro those gnats had me frustrated for sure. i should have known better and should have handled it better but i learned for sure. i was foolish and naive for thinking that it would be okay if i just dumped out half the soil and toped it off with the seed starter... i was way wrong. and then trying to use the skeeter bits i ended up overwatering everything. then two weeks later when i still had them i bug bombed the basement. i left the cabinet door open and put ketchup cups over the plants... that was also foolish, that nuke fried everything and laughed at my silly cups!!! so then i dug a deeper hole i decided to dunk them all in great white/killer crab and more skeeter juice.. it was way too late and they were already toast from the bomb... and i still had gnats!!!! so i took everything outside and dumped it out, there were gnats all throughout that soil.. thousands of them!!! i pulled out the tray too and washed everything good with the garden hose. while those were drying i sprayed everything down with home defense and figured i couldn't make it worse at this point. i let it fester for a day and then turned on all the fans for about ten hours and put the tray and seedling heat mat in with a VG loaded with more seeds... i still have the fans on and it's been 48 hrs since i sprayed the home defense so i hope i'm okay and don't fry these new seedlings too.

i also don't know what to do with containers and soil... i fucked myself by giving myself to many options!! hahaha i think i might go back to the smaller airpots that i'm more comfortable with, and put stonington mix in.

my other thought is even smaller containers with seed starter in then after a week or two when i know everything is okay then put them in the bigger airpots. right now i'm leaning in this direction

i'll think about it over the next day till the sprouts need to be moved... i peeked today though and all eight had tails!!!

bro those gnats had me frustrated for sure. i should have known better and should have handled it better but i learned for sure. i was foolish and naive for thinking that it would be okay if i just dumped out half the soil and toped it off with the seed starter... i was way wrong. and then trying to use the skeeter bits i ended up overwatering everything. then two weeks later when i still had them i bug bombed the basement. i left the cabinet door open and put ketchup cups over the plants... that was also foolish, that nuke fried everything and laughed at my silly cups!!! so then i dug a deeper hole i decided to dunk them all in great white/killer crab and more skeeter juice.. it was way too late and they were already toast from the bomb... and i still had gnats!!!! so i took everything outside and dumped it out, there were gnats all throughout that soil.. thousands of them!!! i pulled out the tray too and washed everything good with the garden hose. while those were drying i sprayed everything down with home defense and figured i couldn't make it worse at this point. i let it fester for a day and then turned on all the fans for about ten hours and put the tray and seedling heat mat in with a VG loaded with more seeds... i still have the fans on and it's been 48 hrs since i sprayed the home defense so i hope i'm okay and don't fry these new seedlings too.

i also don't know what to do with containers and soil... i fucked myself by giving myself to many options!! hahaha i think i might go back to the smaller airpots that i'm more comfortable with, and put stonington mix in.

my other thought is even smaller containers with seed starter in then after a week or two when i know everything is okay then put them in the bigger airpots. right now i'm leaning in this direction

i'll think about it over the next day till the sprouts need to be moved... i peeked today though and all eight had tails!!!

Man that description of your gnat infestation sounds insane! Reminds me of growing in coco which I still have PTSD. I used everything from predator nematodes to neem oils and everything in between and it was still horrible. My only cure that worked was to stop growing in hempy buckets with coco.

Nah you won't ever hear me complain about 'dillos! We have dillo folk art around the house and yard and can't help but like the little things.
I think their only real predator around here is traffic. Adult fox and coyote don't waste their time but kits and pups might play with one. When attacked they roll up into a little ball of armor that can't be eaten.
Dogs can sniff they've been here and follow the trail into the bushes but lose it after that. I'm not sure where they live though and they don't enter the backyard, only front. They're damn near blind too so things like fences and curbs will direct their travel. They use that nose to sniff out bugs and stuff.

I know what you mean about the containers. I had ordered some 5 gallon pots from Amazon but sent them back. Just not the right size even though they're 5s. More like undersized 3s. And when I bought my trays I also looked at the 5 gallon blow molded version of the 7 gallons I have now and they weren't right so I stuck with the 7s on this grow. A little oversized but it's better to be oversized than undersized.
I did find a couple scores though. One perfect size container for my runty Critterz and a rare and hard to find 2 gallon black bucket in the used plastics bin.



The lone 5 gallon on the left is kind of a diamond shape. I really wish I could find about 5 more of those because it's a legit 5 and near perfect size. Then the two gallon bucket to complete my collection of 1,2,3,5, & 7 gallon buckets. Yeah I kinda have a bucket fetish. Nothing better than a damn good perfect sized bucket! Whether it's watering, dunking, mixing batches of food...A perfect sized bucket is the jam!!

i remember those nematodes you got... that sure was a mess and like me probably ended up costing you more money and time than just starting over.

i wish i could have cooked those gnats!! i thought about about spreading it out on trays and in the smoker to cook it. i've done that for weed seeds in soil already... but it was raining and shitty out so i just filled a few holes in yard!!! haha

i know just what it's like with buckets and containers... i never throw any away.. my gardening shed is so packed anymore there's even too much to fit on the shelves anymore... but man when you need that right one for the right job.. ya got it!!!
