True Confessions of an American Outlaw

That moment of realization that a great Prime Day deal may not have been such a good idea.
$6 for two packages of trellis net and a free roll of garden wire.πŸ€‘

Each package has a 10'x30' net. I only need 4'x6' for this grow.πŸ™ƒ

I have a feeling opening one of these is gonna be like squeezing all the toothpaste from a tube and thinking I can get it all back in the tube.
Gotta try though. I think maybe soaking it in water and giving it some weight might make it easier to handle and work with. We'll see

Hate that stuff. Screw that in the neck. For me, it takes 14 people and all of my patience to hang that stuff and get it cut down to size. Then it is still shaped weird.

Maybe I should try putting it up without my mittens on.

Last grow was the first time I used it and that was a PITA and only 4'x8'. I think maybe that's why they included the free wire. When I get pissed off at it and want to burn it, at least I still have the wire to make something. πŸ˜‹
Once cut to size the trellis pole hooks make it ez to install but the unraveling and cutting to fit is the difficult part🀬

Bandit I use that stuff all the time. It is easy to work with straight out of the bag. It usually comes packed as a simple loose overhand knot. You could just lay it out and cut it down. You just have to make sure to cut in the same square.

Have you considered using zip ties around the poles. That is what I do but to tent poles typically. I use like 14 to 16" zip ties. I hang 1 corner and leave the zip tie loose, really loose so I can create more tension later. then I sort of stay in the middle and attach to the closes pole, ideally on the shorts wide. It 4' x 8' I next attach to the 4' away leg. I create plenty of tension on that connection. After that I sort of just keep pulling and stretching the material. At the end if I need more tension I just tighten the zip ties!!!

The poles each have these things that slide onto the pole then the set screw holds it in place and the net hooks onto the two extending tabs. There's two per pole but I only use one. Once the net is in then I can raise or lower it into position.

IMG_0501.JPG

I can get it fairly tight or at least tight enough so when they lean they won't fall over

IMG_4665.JPG

The nice thing about the hooks is being able to slide them up and down so for the last grow I had one end set low for the indicas and the other end raised about a foot higher for the hybrids

IMG_4839.JPG

And here's a clearer video of how this pole system work. I don;t grow in a tent so these poles mount to the edge of my trays but now after going with fans made for tents, I also have poles mounted to the walls I never had prior to this grow

Those are really nice bandit, never seen those before should work like a dream.

You make it sound so easy, you must really have it going on.

I get frustrated with it but I find that if I slow down and take my time it goes much smoother. I just hung some yesterday to dry buds. It is a complete shit show with 17 pots in a 4' x 8' area but I had the netting precut and I just found a narrow corner and zip tied it off and worked my way out from there. I might be dropping f bombs at the end but I seem to forget about it fairly quickly!!!

Putting those on after plants is not a sacrifice of my time I'm willing to make. At least the cheap Chinese ones I tried the nots came loose, or slid, and when I tried to adjust it and make it work with the plants grabbing it I quickly realized I would go insane if this were my job.

To me these are worth every penny

They don't grab the plants as badly, and don't slip. They are also a bit bigger diameter.

I dunno, It's like using a chip brush rather than a $20 paint brush to paint your house. They both get the job done...

I am kind of on the fence about using netting right now for supporting plants. The netting has to be put up at almost exactly the correct time to use it as well as possible. Also the white fabric stuff does cling to the buds no two ways about it. I am presently leaning towards yoyo's.

I have a yoyo system...two lines stretched across the rafters with about 30 or so yoyos hanging on the line.
They've always been my preference to hold up leaners but I like the net more so to pull down stretchers and keep the canopy even since I grow indicas, sativas, and hybrids all together at the same time.
I have custom made hooks to pull them down otherwise I'd be bending and "supercropping" tops and I'm not a big fan of that type of canopy management.
The net in my room works more like a system for LST more than holding up colas but I did notice last grow that using the net for that reduced the number of yoyos needed by about 2/3

Project 421 update

Seafood gumbo concentrate at 5 gallons w/ 60mils of 'Nova, 30mil squid, 15mil crab & lobster, few drops of King Crab, & approx 20mil pH up.
Concentrate is mixed at 6 parts concentrate to 3 parts RO water then given to the plant
Algae wants to grow in the bucket so I keep it covered now

She's taking up approx. 1.5-2 gallons of gumbo per day. Translucent bucket was a great choice here. Makes for an excellent gas gauge ;)

I printed these in petg

View attachment 24573

They slide up and down until you get the net in then pressure squeezes them to hold them. There is a spot for 2 Ty wraps if you want to make it permanent
Me like, nice design! I have fitted elastic netting pre-sized, by A/C Infinity and Vivosun which both come with hooks that squeese around the tent poles. SS

I use 1/2" PEX clips. I zip tie the pole wherever I want it to sit permanently. 1/2" PVC works well for pole clips. Rip a 10 ft length across a table saw to create the opening and cut your clip to length. The longer the stronger.

I really like the

I like the reflective "whisper" on the wall, see you have tried Foop, Larson wrecked his regular ride but stayed in the top 5 for a while, Roval race was the 1st. for me. Cheers SSgrower
Thanks SSgrower. The add a ghost app for ipad is a pretty fun app to use.πŸ‘»
I like what Foop offers a lot. Have to use a bit more than other chemical ups and downs and it is more expensive but it's clean and that matters more as to what I give my plants since I'm very anti-chem and anti salt.
Race was a good one. Larson stays alive while KB and Bubba are out so I'm happy.
Sucked for the Horns on Saturday but it happens and OU still sucks.πŸ˜‹
Have a great week and Hook Em!🀘

Me after losing to OU Saturday, #14's bad day at Roval, and then now realizing I blew right past the 420th post on my journal without realizing it or celebrating it

Gonna be that kinda week I suppose. Might as well have some Chicago for lunch... πŸ˜‹

I'm scrapping the use of netting for now.;)
I opened up one of those packages, pulled the wad out, and it released a cloud of polyester micro fibers. That was the big alarm to not use it but I did cut a chunk out and soaked it in water to tamp down those loose particles. Messing with it I got to the point of it not being a good idea, said fuck it to myself, and will do something else. Likely a custom job with the wire or order some plastic net but that net is not going in my room. Maybe outside for cukes next year IDK.

I also have my trays backwards as to how they should be so I gotta move them around before I use any trellis. Total brain fart on that I shoulda realized when I put them down. πŸ™ƒ

Houston, we have a problem

IMG_5614.JPG

Came home last night to see Project 421 trying to escape.
She absolutely annihilated her net pot some time yesterday so now there's a half a net pot and a bunch of hydroton floating around in the bucket.
She dropped about six inches down and fell on her side.
I went into repair mode with the bucket handle, some velcro, some wire up top, and a few yoyos at the ready to pretty much suspend her and hang her up out of the bucket.

IMG_5618.JPG

IMG_5622.JPG

So there's that πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

And this is the kinda shit that just makes me laugh because I can't make it up.

The microbreedery is a fail.
Not because of dead plants or anything...No fellas showed up to the party! The one time I need a male, I can't get one.
It's like one of those old 70's movies about an overcrowded all woman prison and I'm the lone male warden.

So there won't be any seeds coming out of this grow but there will be bonus sensimilla!

IMG_5620.JPG

Further proof it's the plant's world and the rest of us are just paying rent.πŸ™ƒ

nice work saving the 421!!!!! that had to be a quick panic when you first saw it!!

Thanks Buddy!
She's a wild one that 421! Last night topping her off I couldn't tell anything had happened. Maybe she reached over to a soil plant and rubbed some dirt on it then walked it off. πŸ˜‹
Best thing about that ordeal and handling her, she released her odor...lemons, lemons, and more lemons! That's gonna make a nice addition to the stash I haven't had in a long time.

No males does have me reconsidering dropping more regs next grow. That's a mojo not to be ignored.
And yeah that earthbox is showing me some things too which I definitely want to continue. Mostly the reaction of clones getting no veg time and going from the cloner into flower. They kinda limped along there for a week then took off like bats outta Hell.
The seed run to flower is an absolute yield killer and not worth it even with cheap or free seeds. But clones are a whole other story and I really like what I see happening there.
There's no rush at all into the next grow so I can easily see dropping some regs, find the best lady, and clone the living daylights out of her. Then take those clones, load up six per earthbox, and let it rip into flower. If I put four tubs in here that's 24 plants. Set up the autowaterer system and sit back and enjoy the show.
24 plants would be hilarious to see considering I usually stick to 6-8.

Happy day today! Bye week so I can say it's Friday, I aint got no job, I aint got shit to do, so I'm gonna get hiiiighigh!!!
Plus the Amazon truck comes to day so I'm all excited about that delivery. I'll update what that's all about and the garden tonight after the lights come on.

Happy Friday the 13th Bud Builders!! :devilish:

Spoke too soon. Born on the eve of an eclipse, a male flower rises.🀩

Haunted Banana or Texas Butter (Stardawg x Banana OG) X Ghost Train Haze (Ghost OG x Neville's Wreck) will soon be a thingπŸ‘»πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

ghost male.png

Next step is I need to isolate him and find a dome. If I can find one large enough to fit the whole plant great, but if not I'll cut his head off and stick it in a vase and let it drop pollen then do a selective pollination on one or more of the GTH in the earthbox.

Rub-a-dub-dub there's gonna be some lovin' in that tub. πŸ‘©β€β€οΈβ€πŸ‘¨

25 bare root Evie-2 strawberry plants are on the way from North Carolina. I expect them around middle of the week next week so that gives me time to change the included pump for one more, lets say substantial, change the tubing to polypro, and maybe modify anything else needing to be upgraded out of the box.
Also gonna put it on wheels and stealing an idea from Mr. Luv...a motorized turntable. πŸ€ͺ
So yeah, it's pretty much gonna be a berry growing droid if all goes as planned πŸ€–πŸ‘½
