Grump's Banana Sapphire Grow 🌱

Grump, i ran the gh ripen for the first time this round, didn't use it in the first two crops but i put their recommended dose in last week and again this most recent change out this week. monday i plan to change out to the florakleen which i've also never used and run that for a week and chop the following monday the 14th.. should be dry and good enough to sample on my Bday!!!! i didn't plan it that way, just worked out...

something tells me i won't even notice using the ripen or the kleen..
I looked up ripen when you mentioned it the other day. I'm on the GH line and i never used ripen or florakleen, curious if you notice a difference, keep us updated lol

This has been the first run using the AC Infinity AI controller and it will be the last. It appears to read below 1EC, but it won't display the value on the screen when it dips below that. It just shows LOW. Lame...

Sad thing is.. I inteded to use this controller in my mother tent so I can have my other bluelab back, but that tent rarely goes over 1EC. I'd only ever get to read the EC by opening up the app when I was hoping to read it from outside the tent.

I rarely read UNDER 1EC in the flower tent, so the real reason for it's retirement is moslty my disdain for AI and the wasted port space compared to me minimizing my components (no heater or humidifier).

However... there have been multiple instances where my exhasut fan decided to be controlled by the resevoir temps... make that make sense. On it's own, unbeknownst to me, on several occasions... my exhaust fan has shut off and refused to come on until my water temps reach above 80. That ain't gonna happen with my chiller. Why'd it swap it's controlling inputs? Why'd it keep the same parameters as my air temp/humidity inputs?

It's stupid... that's why. Smart controller my ass.

Luckily you have caught that before it ruined your grow .i can just imagine what the girls would b like with the water at 80f .😳
You reckon that controller is faulty Grumpy.

Hard telling. It's such a weird glitch. Water temps won't ever reach 80 without a chiller problem happening, but the humidity soared every time it's happened.

That controller was one and done for me too. Too many bad things to say to list. Some love it...peace be with them lol.
I feel like tying anything regarding irrigation and or pH is asking for a really bad day at some point with their platform.
I like the 69+Pro especially after I realized it could work the wireless transmitters for fans. For some reason I thought only the AI controller could do that.
I don't trust any of the ACI stuff for any critical jobs though. A few fans, intake and exhaust is about it for me. I've also come to appreciate separating monitoring from control.
Like I'll let my deheuy control itself and the 69 control fans but I monitor with ecowitt just to make sure it's all correct

Yeah just too weird. Not for me. I was skeptical to begin with because I'm pretty fuckin' anti-ai, but I wanted to try out the water monitoring. Weak sauce.

It's literally only monitoring pH/EC and it runs the exhaust. Basic. Wildly unnecessary for my grows.

i'm not very confident of them doing anything at all. but i own them so i can either use them or let them sit on the shelf till they go bad and i throw them away..

the ripen hasn't really shown much to me, the plants will ripen whether i use it or not. haha

the florakleen has me a bit confused, as like all GH products do. the chart says use it the whole last week and the bottle says just the last two days, i'll split the difference and go with the last four days. and the last day will be all darkness. so glad GH is so precise in their directions and calculations!!! a freakin joke with them and so frustrating.

@GrumpAzz , we've talked about using roots so much man, now that i have some healthy ones i'm going to pickle some next week. i've been practicing making pickles all summer long and have my recipe down pat!!

so i plan to pickle some loose roots along with some thicker ones like shoe strings. then i also want to slice the thick parts into really thin chips, almost going for a water chestnut kinda thing but pickled.. i assume they'll need to sit a little longer than cucumbers but maybe in a couple weeks they'll be ready to sample!!

Athena, man. One run of the smaller bottles wouldn't set you back much. Then you could at least compare it to your GH stuff, if nothing else. I was gonna switch it up a for the next run but it's just too easy and it grows some good plants.

It might be a little more expensive than GH and some others, but I'm nkt gonna do the math. It feels like when I was looking around, switching from GH, they all seemed to get the same amount of grows per batch.

Thanks for taking the plunge man. I really can't wait to hear how it goes. I'll get time to try out my cannaroot-kraut one of these days. Maybe once the kids are out of the house 🤣

i think i might run the florakleen then chop most of the plant and then flush it out and keep the plant alive and just give it water for a few days before i harvest the roots to eat... i mean look at whats in this stuff...

i'm not real fond of eating things i can't even pronounce..

Yeah that's probably a safe bet, although that shit's in everything.

Flush 'em like you would a big catfish 🤣
Have you done that before? When I'm trimming, my stalks and roots are left in the plant-sites. They'll weep a fuckin' gallon all over the lids in the time it takes to break it all down for hanging.
I bet a day or three would have them pretty well flushed.

Say it ain't so Joe.
I blew it on the back nine, my friend.

They need more airflow and more attention. Need to start the dehuey sooner than later. Need to maybe top the colas to try and avoid nugs as big as my face. Need to trellis and train them a little better. Water's on point though 👍

But for now.. I gotta clean this tent and try to be thankful for the man-hours I saved by giving up when I found the budrot/mold

I don't even think the poundish we trimmed will make it through the dry without molding and I don't see myself smoking it anyway. Not a risk I'm willing to take.

Couple pic's before reality set in...
20260918_163000.jpg20260918_163009.jpg

According to my capacity estimates of the dry baskets, we trimmed about a pound. That leads me to assume this was a record harvest before disaster struck. Like pushing 3lbs.

Meh.. like I said above.. it's all water off a ducks ass. This has been my first run-in with budrot so I've learned and I'll live. Happens to the best of 'em once in a while right? New, bigger tent required more airflow than I gave it and they deserved more attention than they got.

Moving forward.. the tent has been wiped down with a vinegar solution and the buds are drying in there as I type.

Next run I will have 2x20in hurricane box fans that I intend to mount above the lights. With a trellis and training, I hope to acheive shorter plants to make up for the lost headroom. Cherry Pie is cloned and ready to bone. She was a super squat plant so that's going to help with the lowered ceiling.

Cloned and ready to bone, baby. Let's get this shit out of the way so I can start their new thread.

Thanks for following along

Sorry boss!!
I ain't ever heard that duck expression before lol
I love when people can shake that shit off and keep on trucking

Making me nervous as I've been without top canopy fan for a week waiting on the replacement to arrive today and in the final leg of the race

Yeah man. Gotta roll with it. Stay present.
Don't get me wrong... I'm bummed, but it ain't nothing but time, really.

Got my fingers crossed for you buddy. I'll have to pop over there and get caught up.

I get it bro..those buds just too dense.i can have a fan blowing hard on a top cola and still get it.if you grow these again try spraying them with sulphur before buds start.anthem use to do this with great success .i can’t remeber how much he used .had to keep shaking the bottle as it gets clogged up..whatch out for rh swings of 20% over a period of 24 hrs can do it also…got to get them numbers down to 45% last couple weeks..it’s damn hard to do if the wetaher crap outside..the dehuey I have right now is not up to the task to get my rh down where I need it..I was going to build a box outside of my room and put a uv light in there so to knock there spore dead before they enter the room..beautiful grow that one Grumps.

Something to think about next time, for sure.

I'm hoping some added airflow and training that keeps smaller colas in mind will be all it takes. Hoping it's a fluke and not something I'm gonna have to combat every grow here on out.

whatch out for rh swings of 20% over a period of 24 hrs can do it also…got to get them numbers down to 45% last couple weeks..it’s damn hard to do if the wetaher crap outside..the dehuey I have right now is not up to the task to get my rh down where I need it..
it's humid as hell around here most of the year. My basement stays around 40 with 1 dehuey running nonstop. It just wasn't enough to keep up with those massive buds. The canopy was 65 on a pretty regular basis. That alone should've had me add some airflow, but alas...

I was going to build a box outside of my room and put a uv light in there so to knock there spore dead before they enter the room..
I'm just undwr the impression that mold is everywhere all the time, just gotta keep that humidity down.

beautiful grow that one Grumps.
It was looking so good. Thanks for the pickup, bud.

sucks for sure man!! i struggle to keep my RH down right now as well... i was getting beat with it so i kinda gave up trying. the rh down there right now is 70-80%. i turned of the dehuey because it was just running non stop and only able to keep it at like 68%.. i use ozone and uv to keep any mold spores at bay down there.

the weather is just starting to shift now and should start getting better each week. this is by far one of the wettest years we've had here.

really hope you get completely toasted on what you were able to keep!!!!!!!!

Yeah it is.that’s why I am ,was ,maybe one day 🤣 build a box over my inline passive holes and kill them dead before they enter my room using uv ….just need to put some walls inside box so it stops the light reflection entering my room when the flaps open.been wanting to do for ages but…meh ..I’m too lazy 😂

My basement stays in the 35-40% range with one dehuey running in the middle, nonstop.

You'll have to explain your Ozone and UV procedure... I don't have any visible mold anywhere else in the basement. I did find a couple more frogs in my sump again. That always leaves me scratching my head.

I'm glad someone is getting the water. We've had a few big storms but nothing really useful. Relatively dry otherwise.

really hope you get completely toasted on what you were able to keep!!!!!!!!
I'll get smoked, for sure. I just don't know if I'll smoke more than a doob. It's looking pretty good so far, and smells delicious. I've got the mama so it'll get ran again.

Stay tuned. Maybe Stoney's gonna teach us his ways.

Side note for Max...
I looked into immigrating to the Upside-Down so I signed up for a free trial newsletter thing that kinda walked me through the process. Using my trade experience and my wife's credentials, we had enough credits or whatever. We decided we'll look into it again when we can take it a bit more seriously, so I canceled that newsletter. Well... no I didn't. They charged me the next month. Canceled it again... or so I thought. Charged me again. There was an extra sneaky little step in there that then required email verification... yeesh. Cheeky bastards.
